csvkit alternatives

csvkit is a free command-line toolkit for converting and working with CSV files on Linux, macOS, and Windows. It can convert Excel, JSON, and fixed-width files to CSV; select or reorder columns; inspect data and summary statistics; filter and sort rows; and combine data. Its SQL tools query CSV files, import data into PostgreSQL, and export query results, while csvjson can produce JSON or GeoJSON. Standard input and output let you connect tools into repeatable command pipelines.

That command-line focus may be a poor fit if you prefer visual workflows, need broader data-quality checks, or want to process very large files faster: csvkit's documentation says it may reach limits with speed or file size. Its format and cell-type inference can also be disabled if defaults do not suit your data. When switching, weigh whether you need a graphical interface, richer validation and profiling, different formats or integrations, or SQL-free queries—and whether the replacement suits your platform and workflow.
