Instead of PPSSPP
PPSSPP alternatives
PPSSPP is a free emulator for software made for Sony’s PSP, available on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows. It can render PSP games at full HD or higher, upscale textures, and apply post-processing shaders. Save states, a turbo button, customizable touch controls, and support for controllers or keyboards add options for playing. It can also use saves transferred from a real PSP and supports PSP multiplayer. The trade-offs are its narrow scope—it does not run PS1 games or UMD Video discs—and the need to provide your own PSP game files.

These alternatives serve other purposes, from running Android apps on a computer to emulating vintage computers or providing a CPU emulation framework. Some focus on a different game system; others are tools for application testing, hardware preservation, or running older operating systems. When comparing them with PPSSPP, start with what software or system you need to run, then consider the host platforms, controls, and development or debugging tools each offers. A different target may be a better fit, but it does not replace PPSSPP’s PSP-specific features.
