Instead of OpenSpeedTest

OpenSpeedTest alternatives

OpenSpeedTest measures sustained download and upload speeds, latency, jitter, and connection stability in a browser, without requiring an app, plugin, Flash, or Java. Its free tool supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows use. You can embed its responsive widget, start or customize tests with URL parameters, or deploy it yourself from Docker images or source code.

A different tool may suit you better if you need ongoing monitoring, traffic generation, or virtual network labs instead of a speed check. OpenSpeedTest’s self-hosted setup requires a public IP address, a domain resolving to the server, and an email address for its Let's Encrypt setup. Firefox is not recommended for stress tests longer than 10 minutes or speeds above 2.5 Gbps. When switching, weigh whether browser-based measurements are enough or whether you need server selection, continuous latency tracking, protocol-specific traffic tests, or network emulation—and consider which platforms and deployment methods fit your setup.
