Instead of Okular
Okular alternatives
Okular covers more than PDFs: it opens comics, EPUB books, images, Markdown and other document formats across Linux, Windows and macOS. It includes annotations, form filling, text-to-speech, text selection and PDF signature viewing, verification and signing. It is free software under GPLv2+, and KDE says its software respects privacy, with telemetry opt-in and disabled by default where offered.

Its broad document focus may be more than needed if the main task is managing images, converting files or opening a specific kind of disk. Okular has no OCR support, and its platforms do not include Android or the web. When switching, weigh whether you need a specialist image workflow, broad file conversion, offline access or mobile support, and check which formats and tools the alternative actually provides. Some alternatives handle a narrower range than Okular; others add format conversion or local file processing but have their own limits.
