Instead of Docker Desktop
Docker Desktop alternatives
Docker Desktop brings core container work into one environment: Docker Engine, CLI, Compose, Build, and Kubernetes, with built-in Kubernetes for local deployment, scaling, testing, and management. Docker Debug supplies CLI diagnosis tools for containers and images, and Extensions let developers add third-party tools for debugging, testing, security, and networking. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. Business adds controls such as single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, image and registry access management, and Enhanced Container Isolation, alongside VDI support for Citrix, VMware Horizon, and AVD.

A different tool may fit better when the job is dependency security, license review, artifact storage, or Android accessibility testing rather than container development. Docker Desktop has a free Personal plan, but commercial use at companies with more than 250 employees or more than $10 million in annual revenue requires a paid subscription; Pro starts at $9 a month billed annually. When switching, weigh what the alternative scans or stores, how it fits CI/CD, whether it handles SBOMs and policy, and its deployment requirements. Many options here address a narrower security or testing need, rather than replacing a container desktop outright.
