RustyN64 alternatives

RustyN64 is a free Nintendo 64 emulator for Linux, macOS, Windows, and a WebAssembly browser demo. Its pure-Rust core schedules the CPU and coprocessors on a canonical 187.5 MHz clock, while its low-level RDP and VI output matches Angrylion across 164 conformance vectors. The egui frontend connects video, audio, and controller input and offers save states, rewind, and run-ahead. Deterministic runs can produce bit-identical framebuffer and audio output from the same seed, ROM, and inputs.

The project is still early: version 0.7.0 is described as the first playable release, and a commercial title does not yet reach a rendered frame. RustyN64 has no full-speed run path or published headline performance measurements, and desktop use requires a wgpu-supported GPU; Linux also needs development headers. Alternatives may fit better if you need Android or iOS, broader Nintendo 64 compatibility, other consoles, or built-in netplay. Compare each option’s platform coverage, game focus, setup requirements, rendering extras, multiplayer tools, and frontend scope before switching.
