mBlock alternatives

mBlock brings block-based coding and Python together for robotics, STEM, and coding learning. Learners can switch from blocks to Python in one click, build games and animations, and program Makeblock robots or other open-resource hardware. AI and IoT features, classroom tools, and a curriculum library give it uses beyond individual coding projects, and it runs on web, desktop, and mobile platforms.

Its hardware and Python workflows have limits: the Extension Builder works only in Chrome, the web version cannot use the Bluetooth dongle, and device programming in the Python editor is limited to CyberPi. Upload mode uses MicroPython rather than third-party Python 3 libraries. The alternatives below shift the focus to particular robot families, virtual robots, richer AI and Python tools, or structured classroom lessons. Compare supported devices and connection methods, the coding formats and learner levels, and whether you need physical robot control or a simulator before switching.
