Instead of COLMAP
COLMAP alternatives
COLMAP is built for turning ordered or unordered image collections into 3D reconstructions. Its incremental Structure-from-Motion pipeline recovers camera poses and sparse structure, while Multi-View Stereo produces dense point clouds and meshes. Users can start with an automatic GUI workflow or work through its command-line interface; PyCOLMAP and a reusable C++ library support programmatic use. It is free, runs on Linux, macOS, Windows, and the web, and supports a wide range of camera models and multi-camera rigs.

A different 3D application may fit better if reconstruction from images is not the main task. COLMAP’s focus is sparse and dense reconstruction, not the sculpting, animation, parametric modeling, rendering, or 3D-print export offered by several alternatives here. It is also research software, and its Windows binaries may trigger a Defender warning. When switching, weigh whether you need image-based reconstruction or instead want tools for creating and editing models, which platforms you use, and whether a free plan’s conditions or a paid price work for you.
