GParted alternatives

GParted covers core partition work: it can create, delete, resize, move, check, label, and copy partitions, and create msdos or GPT partition tables. It supports a broad range of storage devices and filesystems, though available actions depend on the filesystem. Its downloadable GParted Live environment can boot from CD, USB, PXE server, or hard disk. GParted is free, but installing it natively requires Linux; current Live images are 64-bit amd64 only and need compatible hardware.

Readers may want a different tool for Windows-based partition management, operating-system migration, cloning, recovery, disk images, or rollback. Some options also add disk monitoring or bootable recovery media, while Quick Assist is for remote PC help rather than partition editing. Compare each product's operating-system support and the specific tasks it handles: a recognized filesystem does not necessarily mean every partition operation is available. GParted warns that partition edits can cause data loss and advises backing up first, so consider the same risk when choosing another tool.
