If you want Xbox achievements that reward skill, exploration and persistence—not five-minute Gamerscore—you should start with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, then choose from prestige lists such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Rare Replay, Sea of Thieves and Red Dead Redemption 2. These games tie their original achievements to bosses, difficulty modes, collectibles, mastery and long-term play. Xbox’s Mythic Achievements, now live for console players, make that distinction more useful: completing a game’s original list earns a separate 0-Gamerscore badge, while DLC does not block it.

What makes an Xbox achievement list meaningful?
A meaningful list makes you play the game deliberately. Its achievements ask for campaign mastery, difficult bosses, exploration, creative restrictions or a substantial system goal. The original shipped set should be a coherent challenge, not an idle loop padded with title-update points.

- Skill: Examples include LASO campaigns, boss parries and high-difficulty combat.
- Exploration and collectibles: Skulls, terminals, hidden areas and complete ability collections add a reason to revisit levels.
- Systems mastery: Driving, extraction, crafting or other core mechanics should matter more than opening the game repeatedly.
- A finishable original list: DLC can expand a game later, but the shipped achievements should define the completion target.
- Community respect: TrueAchievements votes, completion data and named achievements are useful proxies because Microsoft does not publish a qualitative ranking of achievement design.
How should you read TrueAchievement Ratio?
TrueAchievements defines it this way: “TrueAchievement Ratio (TA Ratio) compares the Gamerscore value of an achievement to how many players have unlocked it.” “A lower ratio generally means an achievement is easier or more commonly earned, while higher ratios indicate tougher or rarer achievements.” Use the non-DLC ratio when comparing original lists; expansions and years of live-service additions can make a complete catalog look artificially extreme.
Ratio is only one axis. Pair it with completion percentage, estimated time and the type of work required. A 7.00 ratio caused by a broken online requirement is less attractive than a 3.63 ratio attached to a carefully written 200-hour campaign.

Which Xbox games offer the best meaningful achievement hunts?
1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the strongest all-round recommendation. It won TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2025 with 17% of 8,000 votes and swept all four achievement-related categories. More than 22,000 TrueAchievements members unlocked an achievement during its August 2025 TA Playlist month, and it took 32% of the vote in the 12 Days of Christmas community event.
The non-DLC TA Ratio is 1.84, so this is approachable rather than punishing. Its achievements still have memorable goals: Peace at Last covers one of the game’s toughest bosses, while Feet Collection requires all 44 of Monoco’s skills. As Sean Carey described it, “This achievement is for beating one of the toughest bosses in the game.” On the collection award, he wrote: “This achievement is for unlocking all 44 skills for Monoco… ‘It’s a strange-but-fun achievement, which is only made better by Monoco being absolutely hilarious.’”

The collection remains the default prestige hunt for Xbox players. Its catalog snapshot lists 7,000G, a 3.64 ratio, 826,284 gamers, 0.4% completion and an estimated 300–500 hours, with a 4.5 rating. The work spans legendary campaigns, skull combinations, playlists, terminals and cross-game mastery. It is a substantial original list rather than a quick Gamerscore transaction.
3. Halo: Campaign Evolved
The 2026 campaign list is built around recognizable Halo skills. The published list includes difficulty achievements worth 10G, 20G, 30G and 40G; 39 skulls; all skulls and terminals for 50G; a remixed no-death campaign challenge worth 40G; and a 50G LASO achievement titled MYTHIC. Fully Evolved is the 50G capstone for completing every achievement. That combination of story progress, collectibles, challenge modifiers and a true completion goal is exactly what a meaningful list should look like.

4. Rare Replay
Rare Replay turns a back catalog into a demanding hunt. It contains 4,000G, a 6.99 ratio, 0.2% completion and an estimated 200–300 hours. The attraction is variety: different eras, genres and unusual objectives mean that completion requires learning how each game works, not repeating one low-effort action. Its physical Xbox One release also remains a straightforward purchase path for collectors.
5. Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves records 6,310G, a ratio of 8.75, about 751,304 gamers, 0.0% completion and 1,000+ hours. Voyages, tall tales and pirate-world feats are tied to the game’s actual cooperative loop. The warning is catalog sprawl: the full number includes years of add-ons, so compare the original list rather than treating every later achievement as a requirement. Mythic status uses that original-list boundary.
6. Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 offers a more approachable hunt without becoming an idle farm: 3,000G, a 3.83 ratio, 0.5% completion and an estimated 80–100 hours, with a 4.5 rating. Achievements reward driving, exploration, collecting and seasonal participation. The game also appeared among the Xbox Excellence Awards 2025 daily-active-user standouts, evidence of a healthy player base rather than a deserted checklist.
7. Red Dead Redemption 2
A single 1,000G list can still be meaningful when the game is long and missable. Red Dead Redemption 2 has a 3.63 ratio, 0.6% completion, a 4.7 rating and an estimated 200–300 hours. Story decisions, chapter-specific objectives, exploration and online requirements make planning important. It is the clearest counterexample to the idea that Gamerscore value alone tells you whether a list matters.
8. Gears 5 and Gears of War: E-Day
Gears 5 combines campaign, difficulty and long-term multiplayer work across 2,500G. Its catalog snapshot shows a 7.08 ratio, 0.2% completion and 1,000+ hours. The list is prestigious but demanding, especially where online and mode-specific requirements dominate.

Gears of War: E-Day launched on 6 October 2026 with a 0G Mythic title, “The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day.” An early snapshot shows 1,000G, a 35.59 ratio, 14,064 gamers and 0.0% completion. Treat that ratio as volatile: a new game with a small sample can move dramatically as more players finish it.
9. Ninja Gaiden 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black
Both action games appeared in TrueAchievements’ 2025 hardest-list ranking and were noted as Game Pass titles at that time. Ninja Gaiden 4 had a 5.83 ratio and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black 7.14. Their value comes from combat execution and repeated mastery, not a triple-stack shortcut. Game Pass availability can change by region and month.
10. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition
This edition appeared in the same hardest-list coverage with a 7.00 ratio and a Game Pass listing at the time. It suits players who prefer a combat-focused completion with real execution demands. As with the Ninja Gaiden entries, verify the current catalog before relying on a subscription route.
11. Arc Raiders
Arc Raiders has 50 achievements worth 1,000G, including seven secret achievements. TrueAchievements described it as “a nice, well-rounded list that isn’t just predicated on ‘win and kill’ like, for example, Battlefield 6’s Redsec achievements.” Examples show the range: Escape Artist asks for 100 safe returns to Speranza for 80G; Legend of Speranza requires level 75 for 80G; A Tale for the Ages asks you to destroy the Queen for 80G; and Heart of Gold requires being thanked 10 times for 10G.

12. Elden Ring
Elden Ring is the longevity proof. TrueAchievements recorded 9,303 completions among its 2024 players, with 4.1% completing the list. That is a low percentage compared with casual games, yet thousands still finished because the challenge felt worth mastering. Difficulty and meaning are not opposites when the game gives players reasons to persist.
Which approachable lists are still worth playing?
Not every low-ratio list is shovelware. Narrative games can be easy because they are complete, focused experiences. TrueAchievements’ 2025 figures include Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii at 1.24, ENDER MAGNOLIA at 1.37, DOOM: The Dark Ages at 1.82, Assassin’s Creed Shadows at 1.84 and Split Fiction at 1.85. They are suitable when you want a real game with a manageable completion, not when you are trying to inflate a profile in minutes.

TrueAchievements counted 37 triple-stack games in 2024, exploding to 246 in 2025 — TrueAchievements, 2026. Those represented 738 individual triple-stack releases across three platforms in 2025 — TrueAchievements, 2026 — and roughly 2.3 million Gamerscore from triple stacks in 2025, including DLC and title updates — TrueAchievements, 2026. Games typically launch with 1,000G; some title updates raise that to 2,000G, later to 5,000G per version — TrueAchievements, 2026.

The low-ratio examples are the opposite of this guide: Crime Opera Fandisk: The Caterpillar Candids (1.00), Hidden Kittens: Kingdom of Cats (1.01), Shy Cats Hidden Tracks Vol. 2 (1.02), Card Storm Idle (1.02), Idle Wizard (1.05), Hidden Cats in Rio de Janeiro (1.05) and Astro Miner (1.08). These lists can be completed quickly, but they do not test meaningful play.
In October 2026, Xbox told developers that releasing identical games that “don’t provide distinct experiences” will violate section 10.1 Distinct Function & Value; Accurate Representation of Microsoft Store policy. Sean Carey called the change “an absolutely massive and long-overdue change to the Xbox achievements ecosystem” and said it “should not only help curb Gamerscore inflation, which has diminished the prestige of Gamerscore through a flood of easy-achievement triple stacks, but also help clean up the Xbox Store.”

How do Mythic Achievements change completion hunting?
Mythic Achievements began rolling out to Xbox Insiders on 29 September 2026 and were reported live for all Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S console players on 29 October 2026. Completing every achievement the game shipped with earns a separate Mythic badge worth 0 Gamerscore. Add-on and DLC achievements do not block it.
The game page now shows a progress bar and an original-achievement filter. Mythics are retroactive, including completed Xbox 360 and Windows Phone lists. As Lee Brady reported, “You’ll retroactively be awarded Mythics for all of the base game lists you’ve already completed on your profile, and it even counts Xbox 360 and Windows Phone games you’ve finished.” More than 900 games were eligible when the program launched, reaching back to Xbox 360.
The platform’s design is explicit: “completing all of a game’s original achievements earns you a Mythic Achievement.” It is “basically Xbox’s answer to a PlayStation Platinum Trophy,” but it is not a way to climb a Gamerscore leaderboard. That makes a well-designed original list more valuable than a stack of disposable 1,000G releases.
How should you choose your next meaningful list?
- Set the kind of challenge you want. Choose skill (LASO or combat), exploration (skulls and worlds), collection (a compilation), driving, story completion or a social/live-service goal.
- Check the non-DLC TA Ratio. Use it as a rarity signal, not a quality score.
- Read completion time and percentage together. MCC, Rare Replay and Red Dead Redemption 2 demand hundreds of hours; Forza Horizon 5 is closer to 80–100; a low percentage may reflect ambition rather than poor design.
- Identify grind and missables. Online levels, seasonal tasks and chapter-specific objectives need different planning from a one-player boss hunt.
- Confirm the purchase route. Game Pass catalogs are volatile and region-specific. For a permanent copy, check the current digital listing or physical Xbox release.
- Filter to original achievements. This is the set that determines Mythic status, even when a live-service game has accumulated years of add-ons.
What are the hardest lists that are not automatically meaningful?
High ratios can reflect friction rather than thoughtful design. TrueAchievements listed FragPunk at 23.56 and NBA 2K26 at 16.15 among the hardest 2025 Xbox lists. Those figures can be driven by live-service grind, mode requirements or bugs; a high number alone is not a recommendation. The same test applies to any sports or competitive list whose difficulty comes mainly from population, matchmaking or a broken achievement.

Do DLC achievements prevent an Xbox Mythic Achievement?
No. Mythic status is based on the achievements shipped with the original game. Add-ons, expansions and later title-update achievements are excluded from the requirement, so a long-running game can still have a clear original-list finish line.

Why can a game with a low TA Ratio still be respected?
TA Ratio measures rarity, not artistic or mechanical value. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a 1.84 non-DLC ratio yet won every TrueAchievements 2025 achievement-related award because its goals are tied to bosses, exploration and character systems.
Will a new Xbox game’s TA Ratio stay the same after launch?
Usually not. Early ratios rely on a small player sample and can change as more people unlock difficult achievements. The 35.59 figure for Gears of War: E-Day is specifically an early October 2026 snapshot.
