GeForce NOW is the best fit if you want to stream supported PC games you already own across a range of devices; Xbox Cloud Gaming is the strongest alternative when you want a subscription-led console catalog; Luna is convenient for Fire TV households where it is available; and Boosteroid is another bring-your-own-game option. The right choice depends less on the advertised resolution than on whether your games are supported, your devices and controller work, and the service has a nearby, reliable connection. Here is how the four options differ and how to choose among them.
What makes a good Xbox Cloud Gaming alternative?
A useful alternative needs to fit the way you access games, not merely stream them. Xbox Cloud Gaming centers on a catalog associated with Game Pass. GeForce NOW and Boosteroid generally let you connect game-store accounts and stream supported games you own. Amazon Luna combines cloud streaming with access that depends on its current offerings and your location.

Before subscribing, check four things: whether the specific game is available through that service, whether the service supports your device, whether you have the required input device, and whether your home connection can deliver a stable stream. These are separate questions. Owning a PC game does not automatically make it playable on every cloud service, and a compatible TV does not guarantee that every game supports its remote or controller setup.
- Choose GeForce NOW if your priority is streaming supported games connected to PC storefront accounts across multiple device types.
- Choose Xbox Cloud Gaming if you want a subscription-led catalog and already value the games and benefits in a Game Pass plan.
- Consider Luna if you use Fire TV or another supported device and Luna is offered in your country.
- Consider Boosteroid if you want another service for games you own on supported storefronts and its service works well from your location.
Catalogs, plans, prices, device lists, and regional access can change. Treat dated plan and price examples below as snapshots, and confirm the current details on the relevant service’s official pages before paying.

How do GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Luna, and Boosteroid compare?
The main distinction is the access model: a subscription catalog is not the same as a service that streams games from linked storefront accounts. That difference can affect both what you can play and the total cost.
| Service | How game access works | Devices and TV options in the supplied service information | Network guidance | Plan or performance details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GeForce NOW | Connect supported game-store accounts to stream supported games you own, as well as free-to-play titles. NVIDIA says its library has more than 4,500 games; that figure and compatibility are subject to change. | Laptops, desktops, Macs, Chromebooks, SHIELD TV, select Samsung and LG TVs, iPhone, iPad, Android, Steam Deck, VR headsets, Linux, and supported Fire TV models. | NVIDIA specifies 15 Mbps for HD up to 60 FPS, 25 Mbps for 1080p at 60 FPS, and less than 80 ms latency to an NVIDIA data center. | Free, Performance, and Ultimate memberships. The current service description says Ultimate uses RTX 5080 rigs and advertises up to 5K HDR at 120 FPS; plan specifications can change. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Plays games from its console-game cloud catalog. Unlimited cloud gaming is included with Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate, according to Xbox Wire’s December 19, 2025 guide. | Windows PC, Apple and Android phones and tablets, Xbox consoles, select LG, Samsung, and VIDAA smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Meta Quest, according to Xbox’s device information. | The supplied Xbox information does not state a single minimum bandwidth figure. A compatible internet connection and controller are required. | The December 19, 2025 Xbox Wire guide gives US examples: Essential from $10/month with 50+ games, Premium at $14.99/month with 200+ games, and Ultimate with 400+ games plus day-one new titles and named additional benefits. Prices, plan names, and catalogs are date-sensitive. |
| Amazon Luna | Streams games from the cloud. Access to games and eligibility depend on Luna’s current offering and the user’s country. | Fire TV, Fire tablets, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, Chrome on PC, Mac, and Chromebook; Edge on PC and Mac; Safari on iPhone and iPad; and select Android phones. | Amazon recommends at least 10 Mbps. At 1080p, streaming can use up to 10 GB per hour. | Amazon’s help information says Luna is offered in 14 countries. The supplied details do not establish a single universal plan price or catalog count. |
| Boosteroid | Bring your own paid games from supported official distributors; Boosteroid does not sell those games. A game must be supported by the service as well as owned on an appropriate account. | Browser and app-based access across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Android TV, iOS/browser, and supported smart TVs. | The supplied official information does not specify a comparable minimum speed or latency threshold. | The official site advertises plans from €7.49/month with an annual subscription, unlimited session duration when servers are available, and up to 4K capability. Actual performance depends on device, network, location, and game. |
The table is a starting point, not a guarantee that every model of TV, device, game, or controller will work. Check the service’s current compatibility information for your exact device and title. In particular, a platform’s overall game count is not a promise that a specific game is in its cloud catalog.
Which service is best if I already own PC games?
GeForce NOW and Boosteroid are the clearest choices when you want to use games from PC storefront accounts, but neither should be treated as a universal cloud PC that runs every game in your library. The title needs to be supported by the service, and account or storefront compatibility still matters.
GeForce NOW: broad device support and tiered streaming
NVIDIA describes GeForce NOW as streaming supported games from the cloud to devices including computers, phones, tablets, TVs, Steam Deck, and Linux PCs. You connect supported game-store accounts and choose a game that the service supports. NVIDIA lists more than 4,500 games in its FAQ, but that changing library figure should not be read as a compatibility guarantee for any particular storefront title.
Its Free, Performance, and Ultimate memberships give it a tiered structure. The current service description identifies RTX 5080 rigs for Ultimate and advertises up to 5K HDR at 120 FPS. Those are upper-end advertised specifications, not a prediction of what every game, display, network, or membership session will deliver. If you care about a specific resolution or frame rate, check the current plan terms and the requirements for the game and device you will use.

Boosteroid: another bring-your-own-game route
Boosteroid’s help center says a paid game must be purchased from an official distributor, such as Steam, Epic, or Xbox; Boosteroid does not sell the game. Its documented process is to sign up, choose a tariff, select a game, and log in to the relevant game account. The service’s advertised unlimited session duration is qualified by server availability, so it is not a promise that capacity will always be available.

How to decide between them
- Look up the exact game in the service’s current supported-game information before subscribing.
- Confirm that the game is attached to a storefront account the service supports; a purchase alone does not establish cloud compatibility.
- Compare what you already pay for games with the service subscription. A bring-your-own-game service fee does not include the price of a paid game.
- If you plan to play on a TV or phone, check whether the particular title supports a controller rather than assuming a keyboard and mouse will be practical.
When does Xbox Cloud Gaming make more sense?
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a strong fit when the games and other benefits in a Game Pass plan justify its subscription for you. It is more catalog-led than a service whose central promise is connecting your existing PC storefront library. Microsoft describes Xbox Cloud Gaming as a way to play hundreds of console games on compatible internet-connected devices.
Xbox Wire’s December 19, 2025 guide said unlimited cloud gaming was included with Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. It gave US examples of Essential from $10 per month with more than 50 games, Premium at $14.99 per month with 200 or more games, and Ultimate with 400 or more games, day-one new titles, and added EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics benefits. These are dated examples, not guaranteed current prices or catalog contents; check the current US plan page or your local Xbox page for what is available where you live.
Do not choose based only on the largest catalog count. Ask whether the games you actually want are included, whether the relevant plan is available in your region, and whether you will use its other benefits. A broad catalog has little value if the games you want are absent or you would rather play titles you already own elsewhere.

Is Luna a good option for Fire TV and smart-TV households?
Luna can be convenient if you already play on Fire TV or a supported smart TV and the service is offered in your country. Amazon lists access through Fire TV, Fire tablets, select Samsung and LG TVs, and browsers on several computer and mobile platforms. The exact supported models and regional availability should be checked before you plan a setup around a particular television.
Amazon recommends a minimum 10 Mbps connection and says 1080p streaming can consume up to 10 GB per hour. That data use matters if your internet plan has a monthly data cap or if multiple people share a connection. The estimate is a maximum stated for 1080p, not a fixed amount every session will consume.
Amazon’s help page says Luna is offered in 14 countries. Availability can be a deciding factor: do not assume that being able to access Amazon services generally means Luna is available in your location. Check the country list and the current Luna catalog before choosing it for a specific game.
What internet speed, latency, and data use should I plan for?
Bandwidth is only one part of a playable stream. GeForce NOW publishes specific speed and latency guidance; Amazon Luna gives a minimum recommended speed and a data-use estimate. For every service, Wi-Fi quality and distance to the streaming service’s data center can matter alongside your measured download speed.
| Service | Published connection guidance | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| GeForce NOW | 15 Mbps for HD up to 60 FPS; 25 Mbps for 1080p at 60 FPS; latency under 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center. | Meeting the speed figure alone does not establish that latency or Wi-Fi stability will be good enough. The latency figure is specifically to an NVIDIA data center. |
| Amazon Luna | At least 10 Mbps recommended; up to 10 GB per hour for 1080p streaming. | Consider data caps as well as speed, especially for long sessions or shared connections. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming and Boosteroid | A comparable speed threshold is not stated in the supplied service information. | Check current service guidance and assess the actual stream on your own network before committing to a long-term plan. |
If a stream stutters despite a fast speed test, try reducing competition for bandwidth, moving closer to the router, or using a wired connection where your device supports it. If input feels delayed, test at another time and on a more stable connection. A nearby service data center and low-latency route can matter more than raising the headline bandwidth above an already adequate level.

What controller or input device do I need?
Controller compatibility can decide whether a cloud service is usable on a TV or mobile device. Xbox says a compatible controller connected by Bluetooth or USB is required for its listed cloud-gaming paths. NVIDIA lists Xbox controllers, Sony DualSense and DualShock 4, and other supported gamepads. Boosteroid’s TV and mobile guidance is gamepad-oriented, especially for titles built for controller input.
Keyboard and mouse support depends on the client and the game; do not assume it works uniformly across a service’s apps, browsers, TVs, and titles. Before buying an accessory, verify that the exact controller is supported by both your device and the cloud-gaming client. Also check whether the game itself expects a controller or keyboard-and-mouse input.
- For Xbox Cloud Gaming, make sure you have a compatible controller and can connect it to the device by Bluetooth or USB.
- For GeForce NOW, check the support information for your controller and the device you plan to use.
- For Boosteroid on a TV or phone, filter your choice toward games with gamepad support.
- For any service, test controls in the game you intend to play; a successful device connection does not guarantee the game uses the input method you prefer.
How should I compare the real cost?
Compare the total cost of the games and setup you will actually use, not just a monthly subscription figure. Game access differs: a subscription-led catalog may include access to listed games while you meet the plan terms, whereas a bring-your-own-game service generally adds a cloud-service subscription on top of paid games you must already own.

- Service membership: include the current recurring fee and whether the price is regional or promotional. The Xbox examples above are US figures from December 19, 2025, and Boosteroid’s €7.49 figure is advertised with an annual subscription.
- Games: count separately any paid titles you must buy from a supported distributor. For Boosteroid, the service explicitly says it does not sell those games.
- Hardware: include a compatible controller and a streaming device if you do not already own them. Check compatibility before purchasing.
- Internet: account for data caps and any connection limitations that could make long sessions costly or unreliable.
- Region and tax: check the price and availability shown for your own country rather than converting another region’s advertised number and assuming it applies.
A cheaper monthly fee can be poor value if your games are not supported or you must buy several titles separately. Conversely, a higher plan price may make sense if its included games and other benefits replace spending you would already do.

- Write down your target game and where you own it. If you do not own it, determine whether a subscription catalog includes it or whether you must purchase it separately.
- Check current game compatibility. For GeForce NOW or Boosteroid, confirm the title and relevant account/storefront are supported. For Xbox Cloud Gaming or Luna, check the current catalog and your regional eligibility.
- Confirm the device path. Check the exact TV model, operating system, browser, app, or mobile device against the service’s current support information.
- Sort out the controller or other input. Pair or connect a compatible gamepad if needed, and verify the game supports your chosen input.
- Assess your connection where you will play. Check the service’s published guidance, account for data caps, and prioritize stable Wi-Fi or a wired connection if available.
- Try a short session before making a longer commitment. Assess whether controls respond well, the image remains stable, and the service has capacity at the times you play.
Boosteroid’s documented sequence is to sign up, choose a tariff, select a game, and log in to the relevant game account. For the other services, exact screens and sign-in paths can change, so follow the current setup instructions in the official app or help pages rather than relying on an outdated menu path.
What are the most common reasons an alternative disappoints?
Most mismatches come from assuming one kind of compatibility implies another. A game can be owned but unsupported, a TV can be listed while a particular model is not, and a fast connection can still have poor latency or unstable Wi-Fi.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use cloud gaming on a hotel or public Wi-Fi network?
It may work if the network permits the service and has stable performance, but public networks can be congested or restrict streaming traffic. A brief test is more useful than assuming that a high posted Wi-Fi speed will translate into a responsive game.
Do cloud gaming services transfer my saved games between platforms?
There is no universal save-transfer rule across these services. Whether progress follows you depends on the game and the account or save-sync system it uses, so check that game’s own support information before switching platforms.
Will my Xbox-owned games automatically be available in Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Do not assume that owning a title makes it streamable. Availability depends on the cloud catalog and current service terms; check the specific game in Xbox’s current cloud-gaming information.
Can I share one cloud gaming membership with family members?
Family access rules vary by service, plan, account, and region, and the service details here do not establish a common sharing policy. Check the current account and plan terms before relying on multiple household members being able to play.
