For World of Warcraft: Forever, Blizzard has confirmed that Early Name Reservation carries your reserved character identity into launch—most clearly, the complete two-name character name and the pre-created launch character attached to it. Eligible players can reserve up to three characters total across Normal, PvP, and Role-Play rulesets during the October 27–November 3, 2026 window.
Blizzard has not announced that levels, experience, gear, bags, currency, quests, professions, reputations, cosmetics, or other progression transfers from pre-launch creation. Treat the reservation as a way to secure your launch identity, not as a promise that pre-launch progress or possessions survive.

What is confirmed to carry over?
The confirmed carryover is your reserved character identity and the launch character created under that reservation. Blizzard’s Early Name Reservation instructions tell eligible players to create up to three characters with their chosen names for launch. The published materials do not provide a separate transfer system for progression.
Your full reserved name
Names are first-come, first-served and must follow Blizzard’s naming rules. A desired name is not guaranteed until the reservation succeeds, and a name that is unavailable or violates the rules cannot be secured through the event.

World of Warcraft: Forever uses two names for every character rather than one realm-specific name. The complete first-name-plus-second-name combination must be unique within a region. That means another character may use the same first name if the second name creates a different full combination.
The character slot created during reservation
Blizzard’s wording describes the reservation as creating characters that will be ready for launch. This confirms the reserved character entry itself, but the announcements do not itemize every field selected during character creation or promise that each field is independently transferable. The full name is the clearest guaranteed part of the identity.
The reservation is tied to one eligible account
The benefit applies to the specific World of Warcraft account associated with the eligible World of Warcraft: Forever digital upgrade or Collector’s Edition purchase. A reservation made on one account should not be assumed to appear on another account under the same household or Battle.net login arrangement.
What does Blizzard not say carries over?
Blizzard’s official reservation and launch announcements do not promise transfer of any progression or possessions. Until a separate transfer rule is published, the safe assumption is that only the reserved identity and pre-created launch character are confirmed.

| Pre-launch element | Carryover status | What to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Character name | Confirmed | The reserved two-name combination is intended for launch, subject to naming rules and successful reservation. |
| Pre-created character | Confirmed in launch instructions | The reservation creates a launch character entry associated with the chosen name. |
| Level and experience | Not documented | Do not expect pre-launch levels or experience to appear at launch. |
| Gear, bags, and inventory | Not documented | Do not plan around items or equipment surviving the transition. |
| Gold and other currency | Not documented | No currency transfer has been announced. |
| Quest or story progress | Not documented | Assume launch quests begin under the rules Blizzard sets for the live game. |
| Professions, skills, and reputations | Not documented | No profession, skill, reputation, or unlock transfer is promised. |
| Character-specific rewards or cosmetics | Not documented | Keep no reward or collection unless Blizzard publishes a separate rule. |
| Appearance and other creation choices | Not itemized | Blizzard has not separately listed which customization fields persist; the name reservation is the documented guarantee. |
This distinction matters because “create a character before launch” is not the same as “progress on that character is copied into the live game.” Blizzard has described name reservation and launch creation, but has not described a snapshot, migration, or progression import.
How many characters can I reserve?
Eligible players can reserve up to three characters total during Early Name Reservation. The cap is shared across all rulesets, not granted separately for Normal, PvP, and Role-Play.

| Normal | One reservation toward the account-wide total | Using all three reservations here leaves none for the other rulesets. |
| PvP | One reservation toward the same total | Two PvP characters consume two of the three available reservations. |
| Role-Play | One reservation toward the same total | A Role-Play character uses one of the shared three slots. |
For example, creating two PvP characters leaves one reservation for either Normal or Role-Play. The cross-ruleset limit described here applies specifically to Early Name Reservation; it should not be read as a statement about every future live-game character limit.
When is Early Name Reservation available?
The reservation window runs from October 27 through November 3, 2026. World of Warcraft: Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

Because names are first-come, first-served, waiting until the final day risks losing a preferred combination. Blizzard’s published dates do not establish a grace period after the window closes, so complete the reservation before November 3 rather than relying on launch-day availability.
How do I reserve a character correctly?
Have the eligible account, your ruleset choices, and several acceptable two-name combinations ready before starting. The reservation is limited by account and by the shared three-character cap.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Use the eligible account. Sign in with the specific World of Warcraft account associated with the qualifying World of Warcraft: Forever purchase. The reservation benefit does not automatically follow a different account.
- Choose a ruleset deliberately. Decide whether each character belongs on Normal, PvP, or Role-Play. Every reservation, regardless of ruleset, uses one of the three total slots.
- Build a complete two-name identity. Select both the first and second name. The combination, rather than the first name alone, must be unique within the region.
- Check naming compliance. Names must comply with Blizzard’s naming rules. Keep alternate combinations available in case your first choice is already taken or rejected.
- Confirm each reservation before leaving. Do not assume that entering a name reserves it. Finish the character-creation flow and verify that the character appears in the account’s reservation or character list.
- Record your choices. Save the exact full names and rulesets you selected. This is useful if you later need to identify which of the three shared reservations you used.
Does reserving a name guarantee the exact character design?
No separate Blizzard statement guarantees every customization field. The official material clearly identifies the reserved name and the pre-created launch character, but it does not list a transfer policy for appearance settings or every other creation choice.
If a particular appearance, class, race, or other selection is important to you, do not describe it as confirmed carryover unless Blizzard publishes a clarification. The defensible promise is narrower: the reserved character identity—especially the complete name—will be associated with your launch character.

Do beta or pre-launch levels and gear transfer?
Blizzard has not documented transfer of beta or pre-launch levels, experience, gear, inventory, currency, quests, professions, reputations, rewards, or similar progression. A test or pre-launch character should therefore be treated as temporary unless an explicit launch-transfer announcement says otherwise.
This is an evidence boundary, not a claim that every technical transfer is impossible. Blizzard could publish additional rules, but the current announcements do not authorize readers to rely on progression or possessions surviving.

Name availability is first-come, first-served. Because uniqueness is based on the complete two-name combination within a region, changing the second name may allow a character to share a first name that another player already uses.
Keep several compliant combinations ready. A name that is merely typed into the form is not a confirmed reservation until the character-creation process accepts it and the character is created.

What should I check before the November 3 deadline?
- Confirm that the purchase and reservation are on the intended eligible account.
- Count reservations across all rulesets; the maximum is three total, not three per ruleset.
- Prepare multiple two-name combinations for each character.
- Check that every name follows Blizzard’s naming rules.
- Verify that each completed character appears in the account’s character or reservation list.
- Do not spend pre-launch time expecting levels, gear, currency, quests, professions, or rewards to transfer.
- Recheck Blizzard’s official announcements if the reservation window has changed or a launch-transfer clarification is issued.
What is the practical answer for launch planning?
Plan around identity preservation, not progression preservation. Reserve the names and rulesets you want before November 3, keep the confirmation details, and assume that live-game advancement starts under the launch rules unless Blizzard announces a separate carryover policy.
The confirmed schedule is straightforward: Early Name Reservation runs October 27–November 3, 2026, and global launch follows on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST. The reservation gives eligible players a head start on securing a unique two-name identity; it does not currently document a transfer of the character’s accomplishments or belongings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can two characters have the same first name in WoW: Forever?
Yes, provided their second names differ and the complete two-name combinations are unique within the region. The uniqueness rule applies to the full identity, not to the first name by itself.
Does the three-character reservation limit reset when I switch rulesets?
No reset is described. Early Name Reservation uses one shared total across Normal, PvP, and Role-Play, while Blizzard has not stated that changing rulesets creates additional reservation slots.
Should I treat a beta realm character as my launch character?
No. Unless Blizzard publishes a specific transfer rule, beta or other test-realm levels, items, and progress should be considered separate from the live launch character. The confirmed pre-launch benefit is the reservation and associated identity.
Where can I verify a later change to the carryover rules?
Check Blizzard’s official World of Warcraft announcements and launch instructions after the reservation period. The dates, eligibility terms, and any progression-transfer policy can change through an additional official clarification.
