Besides Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast is best known for Magic: The Gathering, a strategic collectible trading-card game. Its products include physical Magic cards and sets, licensed crossover releases, and digital games such as Magic: The Gathering Arena. Wizards also participates in broader digital development and partnerships connected to its properties, but a game based on D&D is not automatically a game developed by Wizards.
What is Wizards of the Coast’s main game besides D&D?
Magic: The Gathering is the clearest and most established answer. Hasbro’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K calls it one of the original collectible card games and describes it as a strategic trading-card game. The filing presents Magic as a franchise with compelling characters and multiple universes that continue to expand through new card sets.

Players use cards to build decks and play strategically; collectors seek individual cards and sets; and fans can follow the game’s characters and settings across new releases. Its physical products and digital version are related parts of one franchise rather than unrelated Wizards brands.
Hasbro identifies several audiences for Magic: competitive players, casual and social players, collectors, digital players, and people interested in adjacent fictional universes. Those groups may approach the same product differently. A tournament player may focus on strategy and deck construction, a casual group may use cards for social play, and a collector may care more about particular characters, artwork, or set themes. The filing identifies these audiences but does not quantify their relative size.

So, if someone asks for “the Wizards game other than D&D,” Magic: The Gathering is the central answer. Wizards’ other work is broader, especially in digital gaming, but the official corporate description places Magic at the center of its non-D&D product identity.
What does the physical Magic product line include?
The physical product is a trading-card ecosystem rather than one single boxed release. Wizards publishes individual cards, card sets, and collectible products associated with those sets. A reader shopping for the tabletop side of Wizards will therefore encounter products organized around Magic: The Gathering and particular releases, not one permanent starter box that represents the whole company.

Hasbro’s filing says that new card sets expand the game’s settings and audience. A set can therefore matter as a playable addition, a collectible release, or an entry point for someone drawn to its world or characters. The documented product categories support discussing cards, sets, and collectibles, but they do not verify current store inventory, a particular seller, pricing, or which set is best for a specific buyer.
This is also why “What other products does Wizards sell?” has a broader answer than “What other game does Wizards make?” The game is Magic; the products include the physical cards and set-based collectibles through which that game is distributed. Digital access through Arena adds another format, but it does not eliminate the physical trading-card line.
Who is Magic for?
The company’s own description suggests four practical ways to think about the audience:
- Competitive play: Players interested in strategic competition use the cards as a formal game system.
- Casual and social play: Groups can play for recreation without treating every session as a tournament.
- Collecting: Some customers are drawn to individual cards, sets, characters, or the collectible nature of the product.
- Digital play and adjacent universes: Players may prefer a digital format or discover Magic through a familiar licensed setting.
These categories overlap. A person can collect cards, play casually, and use Arena; another may engage only with digital play. The official materials establish that these audiences exist, not how many people belong to each group or what proportion of Wizards’ business each represents.
Are Magic crossover sets separate Wizards franchises?
No. Crossover releases are Magic products that feature outside fictional universes. The licensed characters and worlds should not be mistaken for separate Wizards-created or Wizards-owned franchises.

Hasbro’s fiscal 2025 filing cites Final Fantasy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Marvel’s Spider-Man among third-party universes used in Magic sets released in 2025. These examples show how the card game can reach people who already know another entertainment property, while the resulting cards remain part of the Magic product line.
Hasbro’s 2026 product lookbook lists three additional named products: Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes, Secrets of Strixhaven, and Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The catalog gives release dates of June 26, April 24, and March 6, 2026, respectively. Because the authoritative date for this article is October 30, 2026, those are cataloged 2026 products, not future releases.
The useful editorial distinction is between the game and the universe it features. A crossover title can be a licensed Magic release, but the presence of Marvel, Final Fantasy, Avatar, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles does not mean Wizards created or owns those properties. Nor should each crossover be counted as another standalone Wizards game. It is more accurate to say “a Magic product featuring a licensed universe.”
What digital games does Wizards of the Coast make?
Magic: The Gathering Arena is the clearest named digital product. Hasbro identifies it as the digital version of the card game and also refers to a related mobile application. Arena therefore gives players a software-based way to access Magic; it is not a separate collectible-card franchise.
Hasbro’s fiscal 2025 filing describes Wizards’ digital-gaming operation more broadly. It covers web, PC, console, and mobile products, along with AAA and AA development, games as a service, and licensed games. Those categories indicate a wider remit than simply converting a tabletop rules system into an app. They also explain why lists of Wizards-related games may include internal projects, partner-developed titles, and licensed experiences with different relationships to the company.
The description of a digital operation is not a complete catalog of every currently available game. It also does not establish the current release status of each project mentioned in that filing. A corporate statement about development capability should not be converted into a claim that every named title is already released, currently supported, or still in production.
The filing names Baldur’s Gate 3 as a D&D-based role-playing game developed by partner Larian Studios. That makes it relevant to the wider digital ecosystem around a Wizards property, but it is not evidence that Wizards developed the game. The safest wording is “a partner-developed game based on D&D.”

The same filing described internal projects Exodus and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons as then expected for 2027. Those statements preserve the filing’s timeframe; they do not confirm a release date or current status on October 30, 2026. Development schedules can change, so an older projected window should not be presented as a current launch announcement.
How do Wizards’ non-D&D offerings compare?
| Offering | Format | Relationship to Wizards | Typical reader goal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magic: The Gathering | Physical trading-card game | Core Wizards/Hasbro franchise | Competitive, casual, social, or collectible play |
| Magic crossover sets | Physical card products | Magic products using licensed universes | Play or collect cards tied to a familiar property |
| Magic: The Gathering Arena | Digital game and mobile access | Digital version of Magic | Play the card game digitally |
| Partner titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3 | Digital role-playing game | Based on a Wizards property but developed by a partner | Experience a story-driven game using D&D material |
| Projects named in a corporate filing | Potential digital releases | Internal or described development work at the filing date | Track announced projects, not assume availability |
This comparison prevents several common category errors. A physical crossover set is not a new Wizards-owned franchise; Arena is not unrelated to the tabletop card game; and a partner title is not automatically Wizards-developed. Format, ownership, reader purpose, and product maturity are separate questions.
Which familiar Hasbro games should not automatically be called Wizards games?
Hasbro’s larger portfolio includes well-known games such as Monopoly, Jenga, Connect 4, The Game of Life, Scrabble, Clue, and Trivial Pursuit. Their presence in Hasbro’s portfolio does not establish that each is made by Wizards of the Coast. Unless a specific source identifies a Wizards role, it is more precise to call them Hasbro games.
This distinction separates two questions: what Hasbro makes across its corporate portfolio, and what Wizards makes or supports as a business. Magic is the well-documented non-D&D Wizards franchise in the cited corporate materials. Familiarity with the parent company does not prove that a board game belongs to Wizards’ product lineup.

A game may use a Wizards setting or license and still be made by a partner. The filing’s description of Larian Studios’ role on Baldur’s Gate 3 is a direct example. Calling the game D&D-based is supported; calling it Wizards-developed is not.
What should a shopper or reader verify before choosing a product?
First identify the format: physical cards and collectibles, digital software, or a partner-made game. Then identify the relationship: core Wizards franchise, licensed crossover, internal project, or partner title. This keeps a product description accurate without implying a price, seller, inventory status, or release date that has not been verified.
For physical products, the broadest accurate shopping phrase is “Magic: The Gathering trading cards.” It points to the central product category without pretending that one particular set is currently in stock or suitable for every player. Accessories such as sleeves, deck boxes, storage, and playmats are practical parts of a trading-card hobby, but availability and merchant terms can change and should be checked separately.

For digital products, distinguish access from ownership. Arena is the named digital version of Magic; a game such as Baldur’s Gate 3 is a partner-developed D&D-based experience. For a project listed with a projected date, check a current announcement rather than treating the filing’s forecast as a guarantee.
How can you tell what belongs in a list of Wizards products?
Start with the relationship being described: a product made or published by Wizards, a game based on a Wizards property, a partner-developed title, or another Hasbro brand. Those categories can overlap in the wider entertainment business, but they are not interchangeable.
- For a core non-D&D franchise: name Magic: The Gathering and its physical card sets, collectible products, and digital version.
- For a crossover: describe the item as a Magic product featuring a licensed or partner universe. Do not present the outside universe as a separate Wizards franchise.
- For a digital title: distinguish a Wizards digital product from a partner-developed game based on D&D or another Wizards property.
- For a Hasbro brand: do not assign it to Wizards merely because both sit within Hasbro’s broader portfolio.
- For a project listed in an older filing: preserve the filing’s timeframe and avoid presenting a projected date as a confirmed current release.
These distinctions produce a more useful answer than a long, undifferentiated list. The short version is that Magic is the major non-D&D franchise; its card products extend into licensed crossovers; Arena provides digital access; and Wizards’ wider digital operation includes both internal development and partnerships.

Is Magic: The Gathering made by Wizards of the Coast?
Yes. Hasbro’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K identifies Magic: The Gathering as a Wizards franchise and describes it as a strategic trading-card game. It is the clearest answer when someone asks what Wizards makes beyond D&D.
What games does Wizards of the Coast own besides D&D?
The clearest documented non-D&D franchise is Magic: The Gathering. Its physical cards, sets, collectibles, and digital version are parts of that franchise. Crossover properties such as Marvel or Final Fantasy should not be treated as separate Wizards-owned brands.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIs Magic: The Gathering a board game?
It is described by Hasbro as a strategic collectible trading-card game. Its primary physical products are cards and card sets, with digital access through Magic: The Gathering Arena and a related mobile application.
What is Magic: The Gathering Arena?
Arena is the digital version of Magic: The Gathering. Hasbro also refers to a related mobile application, so it is a digital access point for the card game rather than an unrelated Wizards franchise.

What are Magic crossover sets?
They are Magic products featuring licensed or partner universes. Official examples cited for 2025 include Final Fantasy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. The 2026 lookbook lists Marvel Super Heroes, Secrets of Strixhaven, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products.
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 a Wizards of the Coast game?
The fiscal 2025 filing describes it as a D&D-based role-playing game developed by partner Larian Studios. That supports calling it a partner-developed game based on D&D, rather than attributing its development to Wizards.
Are Monopoly and Clue made by Wizards of the Coast?
They are examples from Hasbro’s broader game portfolio. The cited corporate materials do not establish that either is a Wizards-made product, so describing them as Hasbro games is more accurate.
Did Wizards release Exodus and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons?
The fiscal 2025 filing described them as internal projects then expected for 2027. That historical statement does not confirm their release or current status on October 30, 2026; a current announcement would be needed.
How large is Wizards of the Coast’s audience?
The cited corporate materials do not provide a standalone current Wizards player or consumer count. Hasbro’s 2026 corporate page says the parent company reaches more than 1 billion fans annually, but that is a Hasbro-wide figure, not a Wizards-specific statistic.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Wizards of the Coast’s principal product beyond Dungeons & Dragons is Magic: The Gathering, a strategic collectible trading-card game with physical sets, licensed crossover releases, and digital play through Magic: The Gathering Arena. Wizards also works across digital development and partnerships, but Hasbro brands and partner-made games should not automatically be labeled Wizards products.
