Yes. Earning yield on XRP through Xaman’s Flare XRPFi Yield xApp can leave you with fewer native XRP than you deposited, especially on a small first deposit. A modeled 100 XRP transaction, after entry, setup and redemption charges, still returns about 99.38 XRP after a year even if the vault compounds at a constant 2.25% net annual rate. That is an illustration, not a promised result, but it shows why the displayed APY is not the same as your round-trip return.
The route is convenient: Xaman sends native XRP to a Flare-secured XRP Ledger account, FXRP is minted 1:1 on Flare, and FXRP enters the earnXRP vault. Fees, variable returns, queued withdrawals and cross-chain risk all matter before you decide whether the yield is worth it.

What happens when you earn XRP yield in Xaman?
The wallet is Xaman, and the product route is its Flare XRPFi Yield xApp. Your XRP does not remain as immediately spendable native XRP throughout the process.
- Xaman sends native XRP to an XRP Ledger account secured for the Flare process.
- A Flare smart contract mints FXRP, a 1:1 representation of XRP on Flare.
- FXRP is deposited into the earnXRP vault, and you receive earnXRP receipt tokens.
- Upshift infrastructure and Clearstar’s strategy management deploy and rebalance the vault across on-chain strategies. Returns are compounded in XRP terms.
- When you withdraw, earnXRP is burned and FXRP is returned. You then complete the redemption step to receive native XRP again.
Xaman says, “The signing stays in Xaman. The custody stays with the user.” That describes control of the signing key, not the removal of smart-contract, bridge, strategy or liquidity risk. Your assets still move across XRPL, Flare and managed DeFi infrastructure.

What fees can reduce the XRP you get back?
The first-use route has several separate deductions. The fixed setup charge is especially damaging to small deposits.
| Cost or assumption | Amount or condition | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Xaman yield-deposit service fee | 0.5% once on deposit | Applies to supported yield products and is charged separately from other route costs. |
| FXRP minting charge | 0.11% in the modeled route | Shown after the Xaman deduction in the model; verify the live route before depositing. |
| Flare Smart Account setup | 2 XRP once for first-time setup in the model | A fixed cost that dominates a small deposit. |
| FXRP redemption | 0.2% in the model | Charged when converting FXRP back to native XRP. |
| Vault return assumption | 3.5% gross, 2.25% net in the illustration | A hypothetical constant rate, not a live or guaranteed yield. |
The 0.5% Xaman charge is not an all-in fee. Minting, account setup, vault expenses, redemption, network costs, slippage, reward-conversion delays and any instant-exit premium can change the final amount.
How long does it take to break even?
Under the illustration’s 2.25% effective annual return and successful redemption, the fixed setup charge makes the break-even period much longer for small deposits.

| Initial deposit | Modeled break-even | XRP after 6 months | XRP after 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 XRP | 15.4 months | 98.28 | 99.38 |
| 500 XRP | 6.5 months | not stated | not stated |
| 1,000 XRP | 5.4 months | 1,001.00 | 1,012.19 |
| 5,000 XRP | 4.6 months | not stated | not stated |
| 10,000 XRP | 4.5 months | 10,028.13 | 10,140.32 |
The model estimates that a 100 XRP deposit needs about 15.4 months to recover the initial deductions, while a 10,000 XRP deposit reaches break-even in roughly 4.5 months because the fixed 2 XRP setup cost is spread over more XRP. These are scenarios, not forecasts. They exclude extra network charges, instant-exit premiums, taxes, slippage, delayed reward conversion and losses.
Is the earnXRP APY fixed?
No. APY is variable, backward-looking and affected by strategy results and reward treatment. Do not combine snapshots from different dates as if they were one current rate.
What the dated snapshots show
- On October 21, 2026, CryptoSlate reported a 1.18% trailing 30-day Total APY for the Clearstar earnXRP vault and a 0.75% management fee. The displayed APY included discounted vested rFLR rewards.
- Upshift’s guide reported about 1.6% annualized since January 2026, with rolling 30-day returns ranging roughly from 0.2% to 5.3%, and about 1.0% trailing APY on September 29, 2026.
- Upshift’s live dashboard later showed 0.97% over 30 days.
Use the live vault display at the moment you transact. A trailing APY can fall, and a reward component may not be immediately redeemable as native XRP. A conditional calculation using a constant 1.18% effective annual rate would take about 29.1 months for the modeled 100 XRP route to restore 100 XRP, and about 8.5 months for 10,000 XRP.

How long can an XRP yield withdrawal take?
Standard withdrawal can take up to 72 hours. Upshift describes queued withdrawals and an optional instant path that depends on available liquidity and may charge an extra fee. A vault balance therefore is not a guarantee that native XRP is immediately spendable.
What to check before withdrawing
- Read the queue estimate and any instant-redemption price shown in the vault interface.
- Confirm whether rewards are vested, liquid and included in the amount you can redeem now.
- Wait for the FXRP redemption to complete before judging the result; an intermediate balance is not your final native-XRP amount.
- Keep enough XRP outside the position for fees and urgent transfers.
What risks are added beyond ordinary XRP ownership?
The route introduces several layers of exposure:
- Smart-contract risk: bugs or exploits in the minting, vault or redemption contracts can impair funds.
- Cross-chain and bridge risk: FXRP depends on the Flare representation and the mechanisms that connect it with XRPL.
- Strategy and counterparty risk: the vault is managed and rebalanced across on-chain strategies rather than simply holding XRP.
- Liquidity risk: queued withdrawals can delay access, while instant redemption can cost more.
- Performance risk: a low or negative period can extend break-even or prevent it entirely.
Flare Growth Lead Ethan has described the opportunity by noting that only 0.1% of XRP supply was utilized in DeFi despite XRP being the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. That potential does not change the mechanics of your fees or guarantee a return.
How should you calculate your real XRP return?
Judge the position in native XRP, not by the headline APY or the number of earnXRP receipt tokens. Add every XRP committed, then divide the native XRP received after the complete withdrawal and redemption by that total.

- Record the exact native XRP sent, including any XRP used for account setup.
- Record Xaman’s deposit fee, minting deduction and all displayed network or route charges.
- Record vault deposits, withdrawals and any rewards separately, including whether rewards are converted.
- Wait until redemption is complete and record the native XRP that actually arrives in Xaman.
- Calculate
native XRP received ÷ total XRP committed. A result below 1.0 means the round trip lost XRP, regardless of the displayed APY.
For a first-time 100 XRP user, that calculation is the crucial test: under the stated illustration, the balance remains below the starting amount after 12 months. Larger deposits dilute the fixed setup cost, but they also place more XRP at risk across the same contracts and liquidity process.

What records should I keep for XRP-yield taxes?
Save the deposit transaction, each fee, FXRP mint and redemption transaction, vault receipt, reward distribution and final native-XRP withdrawal. Tax treatment varies by jurisdiction, so give those records to a qualified local tax professional rather than assuming the displayed APY is taxable income at one universal rate.
Can I stop the position before the vault withdrawal finishes?
You can request a withdrawal, but the standard process may remain queued for as long as 72 hours. Until FXRP is redeemed and native XRP arrives, the amount shown in the vault is not the amount available for an urgent transfer.

Why might two users see different effective returns?
Deposit size changes how heavily the fixed setup cost is felt, while entry date, reward vesting, withdrawal timing and any instant-redemption charge change the round-trip result. A trailing 30-day APY is therefore not a personalized quote.
Should I treat rFLR rewards as immediately spendable XRP?
No. The reported APY included discounted vested rFLR rewards, which are a separate reward component from native XRP. Check the vault’s vesting and conversion rules before counting those rewards toward money you can withdraw today.
