Adjusted EPS beat expectations
Adjusted earnings per share were 45 cents, versus a 13-cent analyst estimate. That is 32 cents above consensus, or roughly 3.5 times the forecast figure. Because the result is adjusted, readers should not treat it as identical to a GAAP earnings measure; the headline comparison nevertheless signaled a much stronger quarter than analysts had modeled.

Is Starlink still driving SpaceX’s profits?
Yes. The Associated Press reported that Starlink remained SpaceX’s largest profit generator even though AI led revenue. Starlink ended the quarter with 13.6 million subscribers, above the 12.19 million analyst expectation.
The subscriber beat came with a pricing trade-off. Average monthly revenue per subscriber was $69 in the quarter, down from $99 in 2023, as lower-priced international plans expanded. Subscriber growth can therefore improve scale while reducing the average amount collected from each account. Investors will need both measures—customer additions and revenue per subscriber—to judge whether Starlink’s profit contribution is strengthening.
Did the possible Tesla merger add to the rally?
It likely added speculative momentum, but it was not the same kind of evidence as the earnings report. Musk said SpaceX and Tesla had created special committees to discuss a union and told Reuters, “I think it would be a good idea, but it’s really up to the special committees of both companies.”
