The S95F is the leading choice for compatible PC gamers who want Samsung’s highest documented 4K OLED refresh tier, up to 165Hz. The S90F is a more size-flexible OLED option rated up to 144Hz. QN90F is the 4K Neo QLED choice for bright rooms and very large screens, while QN990F is the 8K Neo QLED family for buyers prioritizing maximum resolution and screen size. Samsung has not supplied enough evidence to rank a fifth current US model, establish a value winner or quote reliable current prices, so this guide compares the four documented families instead of inventing a fifth pick.
Which Samsung gaming TVs are current?
Samsung’s US gaming-TV comparison currently names four families: QN990F, QN90F, S95F and S90F. That is the defensible product set for this comparison. Samsung’s figures use terms such as “Motion Xcelerator,” so they should not be read as the native frame rate of every input. A game, graphics card, cable, console and TV setting all have to support the target resolution and refresh combination.

Which Samsung gaming TV is right for you?
Choose by room lighting, screen size, gaming hardware and the refresh rate your system can actually deliver. The S95F is the clearest premium-PC choice; S90F makes more sense when you want OLED in smaller sizes; QN90F suits bright rooms and unusually large 4K screens; QN990F is for buyers who specifically want 8K and understand its compatibility limits.

Is the Samsung S95F the best Samsung gaming TV for PC players?
For a compatible PC, the S95F is the strongest documented OLED gaming choice in this comparison because Samsung lists up to 165Hz at 4K. It combines that ceiling with OLED’s display category, Glare Free treatment and four HDMI 2.1 ports.

What does “up to 144Hz” require?
Samsung’s S90F specification sheet says: “Requires compatible gaming PC supporting 4K resolution, 144Hz motion rate and Variable Refresh Rate.” In practical terms, your graphics card, game, cable and operating-system display settings must all be able to negotiate that signal. If any part of the chain is limited to a lower refresh rate, the TV will operate at the lower supported mode.
The S90F is therefore a sensible choice for a desk, bedroom or smaller living-room setup where a 42- or 48-inch OLED is more practical than a 55-inch panel. It is not the right choice if you specifically need Samsung’s documented 165Hz OLED PC tier.
Is the QN90F the best Samsung gaming TV for a bright room?
The QN90F is Samsung’s 4K Neo QLED family for buyers who need high brightness handling, reflection-conscious features and an unusually broad size range. Samsung lists Glare Free for the family and offers sizes from 43 inches through 115 inches.
Why the QN90F stands out
- The range includes practical small and medium sizes—43, 50, 55, 65, 75 and 85 inches—as well as 98- and 115-inch options.
- Samsung lists motion up to 165Hz, while the 115-inch model is listed at 144Hz. That size-specific difference must be checked before purchase.
- Neo QLED positioning and Glare Free treatment make it the family to investigate when daytime viewing and reflections matter more than selecting OLED.
What the QN90F does not guarantee
The “up to 165Hz” figure is not a promise that every size, input or game will run at 165 frames per second. Confirm the exact panel size, input resolution and refresh support for your graphics card or console. Samsung’s published comparison provides the family-level figures, but it does not establish a universal performance result for every size.
There is also no evidence here for declaring the QN90F the cheapest, best-value or fastest real-world option. Compare live price, warranty, size and the display mode your equipment supports at the time you buy.
Who should consider the QN990F 8K Neo QLED?
The QN990F is the specialist choice for a very large 8K display. Samsung lists 65-, 75-, 85- and 98-inch sizes and describes Motion Xcelerator 240Hz, while noting that the 98-inch model is listed at 120Hz.
When 8K makes sense
Choose it when the screen size, viewing distance and desire for an 8K panel justify the premium over a 4K set. It can also appeal to a buyer whose gaming setup is part of a broader home-theater system rather than a dedicated desk display.

What to verify before buying
- Check the refresh specification for the exact size, especially the 98-inch version.
- Confirm that your PC, console, cable and games support the resolution and refresh mode you intend to use.
- Do not assume the 240Hz motion label is an available 8K input frame rate; Samsung’s comparison does not establish that for every source.
- Measure the wall, stand and viewing distance. A 98-inch television has very different installation and seating requirements from a 65-inch model.
For most buyers who simply want a high-refresh gaming TV, QN990F is not automatically the right answer. Its differentiator is 8K scale, not a proven universal advantage in frame rate or value.
What should you look for in a Samsung gaming TV?
Start with latency and refresh rate, then verify resolution, VRR, ports and the capabilities of your source device. Samsung’s own gaming guidance highlights latency and refresh rate, but those specifications only matter when the rest of the signal chain supports them.
Refresh rate and actual frame rate
A TV’s maximum refresh rate describes how often its panel can update under a supported mode. It does not create extra frames. A game rendering at 80 frames per second cannot become a 165-frame-per-second experience simply because the television is rated to 165Hz. Match the TV to the output your PC or console can sustain at the resolution you use.
Variable Refresh Rate
VRR synchronizes the display’s refresh behavior with changing game frame rates, reducing visible tearing when the frame rate is not fixed. The S90F’s official sheet explicitly requires a compatible gaming PC supporting 4K, 144Hz and VRR for that top mode. Check the same type of compatibility for any other family and size you consider.

ALLM lets a compatible source signal the TV to switch into a low-latency game setting. Samsung describes it this way: “Auto Low Latency Mode sets optimal latency settings for your games automatically, allowing for smooth gaming and fast reactions to your commands.” It is a convenience feature, not a substitute for checking the TV’s actual game-mode behavior.
HDMI 2.1 ports
Samsung lists four HDMI 2.1 ports for its OLED families. That gives S95F and S90F owners more flexibility when connecting multiple modern sources, but port capability is still only one part of the chain. Use a cable and source that support the resolution, refresh rate and VRR mode you want.
Glare and room lighting
Samsung lists Glare Free for S95F and QN90F. If your seating faces a window or strong lamp, compare the exact model’s reflection handling and place the screen where direct light does not strike it. A specification cannot compensate for an unavoidable reflection at eye level.

Can Samsung Gaming Hub replace a console or PC?
Samsung Gaming Hub provides access to cloud-gaming services through supported televisions, but it is not a guarantee that every game or service is included. Samsung says a compatible controller and high-speed internet are required, and additional subscriptions may be necessary.
- Confirm that the television model and your region support Gaming Hub.
- Use a compatible controller; the TV’s remote is not a replacement for every game controller.
- Connect the TV to a stable, high-speed internet service.
- Check each cloud service’s catalog, account requirements and subscription terms.
- Test network responsiveness from the intended seating position before relying on cloud gaming as your primary setup.
Cloud gaming adds a network latency variable that does not exist when a local console or PC renders the game. A high-refresh panel remains useful, but your internet connection and the service’s responsiveness can become the limiting factors.
How should you choose the size and resolution?
Choose the smallest screen that gives you the viewing angle and text clarity you want from your actual seating position, then confirm the output resolution your hardware can sustain. Bigger is not automatically better for competitive games if you sit close or need to scan the whole screen quickly.
- Desk or close seating: S90F’s 42- or 48-inch sizes are the most directly suited to a compact OLED setup.
- General living room: S95F, S90F and QN90F all offer 55- to 65-inch-class options, so room brightness and hardware compatibility become more important than family name.
- Large-room viewing: QN90F reaches 98 and 115 inches, while QN990F reaches 98 inches and adds 8K resolution.
- Competitive PC gaming: Prioritize the refresh mode your graphics card can drive consistently at 4K, rather than paying for a higher label you cannot use.
Remember that size-specific specifications matter. QN990F’s 98-inch model is listed at 120Hz, and QN90F’s 115-inch model is listed at 144Hz, so do not generalize the family’s highest figure to every size.

Ignoring size-specific exceptions
The QN90F 115-inch model is listed at 144Hz rather than the family’s up-to-165Hz figure, and QN990F’s 98-inch model is listed at 120Hz rather than the family’s Motion Xcelerator 240Hz claim. Confirm the exact model before paying for a capability you expect to use.
Using an unsuitable cable or port
A compatible television cannot negotiate a mode that the cable, source or selected HDMI port does not support. Connect the gaming device to the appropriate port, enable the source’s high-refresh and VRR options, and test the resulting signal in the device’s display menu.
Buying without checking the regional model
Samsung’s size and feature labels can vary by region and SKU. The documented US 55-inch S95F model is QN55S95FAFXZA; use the exact local model number when checking specifications, warranty and availability.
Expecting Gaming Hub to be free of conditions
Cloud gaming can require a compatible controller, high-speed internet and separate subscriptions. Confirm those requirements before treating the TV as a console replacement.

Does Samsung officially list a fifth gaming-TV family for the US?
