For a Malaysian corrugated converter that needs a mature structural-design-to-production workflow, ArtiosCAD is the default enterprise choice. EngView Packaging Suite is a modular alternative for teams that want structural design, artwork integration and production modules assembled around their workflow; Arden Impact 2026 is worth evaluating when reuse of legacy designs and automation are priorities. None is an automatic winner for every plant: choose by running the same representative dielines through each system and checking whether its geometry, proofing, nesting and production outputs fit your equipment and processes.
What should Malaysian corrugated teams look for in packaging CAD?
Structural packaging software is more than a drawing tool. A dieline must describe a package accurately enough to be reviewed, adjusted and passed into the next production steps. For corrugated work, the selection question is whether a system can support the team’s structures and revision practices, connect design with artwork and proofing, and deliver outputs that the converter’s plotter, die-maker and other systems can use.

Compare the products against your actual work rather than relying on feature counts or broad vendor positioning. A software package may include 3D presentation or layout optimization, for example, but that alone does not establish that its output matches your production requirements. A controlled bake-off reveals whether a team can make a change, regenerate the design and produce a usable file without introducing errors or unnecessary manual work.
- Standards and board behavior: Check the depth of FEFCO and ECMA coverage, the ability to modify standard designs, and how the system handles your board caliper and custom rules.
- Revision control: See whether a dimension or material change can be applied parametrically or through constraints, and whether dependent geometry updates as expected.
- Proofing and artwork: Evaluate 2D dielines, 3D folding or fit checks, and the workflow for aligning existing Illustrator artwork.
- Production planning: Examine sheet nesting, waste reporting, case or pallet implications, estimating and the connection to the team’s costing process.
- Manufacturing outputs: Verify the files and workflows needed for sample tables, cutting plotters, die-making, dieboard, stripping or counterplates—where relevant to your operation.
- Team operations: Assess project organization, reuse of previous work, scripting or automation, training, implementation, language, local support and integration with your RIP, plotter, die-maker and ERP.
Not every converter needs every capability. A team focused on structural design and sampling may weigh 3D proofing and plotter output most heavily; a die-maker or larger converter may put more weight on CAM, reuse, automation and production-system integration. Write down the required outputs and workflows before the vendor demonstrations so that a polished presentation does not substitute for a production fit check.

Which software belongs on the shortlist?
Three options have distinct strengths in the available product information. ArtiosCAD is the baseline to test for a broad, established structural workflow; EngView is the modular option; and Arden Impact 2026 is the automation-oriented candidate, particularly for technically mature teams with substantial legacy data.
| Product | Capabilities described | Best reason to evaluate it | What the available information does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| ArtiosCAD | Dedicated 2D and 3D design; resizable US, ECMA and FEFCO standards; internal fitments; virtual prototyping; assembly instructions; CAD preflight; die-making; interoperability with Illustrator, Cape Pack, STEP, IGES, SolidWorks and other formats. | A mature design-to-production workflow with broad integration needs. Esko calls it “world-leading” and “unrivalled” in structural packaging design; that is the vendor’s claim, not an independent ranking. ArtiosCAD product information. | Malaysia pricing, implementation charges, local support SLA, and how a specific converter’s equipment or existing data will work with it are not stated in the cited product information. |
| EngView Packaging Suite | CAD/CAM for boxes and POP/POS displays; more than 2,500 ready-to-use standards, including full ECMA and FEFCO codes; parametric drafting, 3D presentation, Illustrator integration, layout optimization, display nesting, costing, CAM and project organization. The Professional bundle adds parametric components, waste comparison, cost models and cutting-plotter or laser output. | Teams that want to assemble modules around their process and keep structure and artwork closely connected. | Current Malaysia price, local support terms, module-by-module availability and compatibility with a particular plant’s equipment are not stated in the cited material. |
| Arden Impact 2026 | Supports corrugated, carton and POP/POS packaging from structural design through manufacture. The 2026 release adds Design Similarity for finding reusable designs and tooling layouts, Dynamic Constraints enhancements, 629 new standards creating more than 1,000 additional design combinations, native Python scripting and workflow plug-ins. | Technically mature converters and die-makers with legacy work to reuse or automation needs. Arden’s 17 August 2026 release describes the release as introducing AI-powered capability for the first time; the announcement does not, by itself, establish how a specific team’s work will benefit. Arden’s Impact 2026 announcement. | Malaysia pricing, implementation charges, support SLA and the specifics of the AI-powered capability are not stated in the cited announcement. |
Do not treat the table as a performance ranking. The product descriptions establish that the vendors offer certain capabilities, not that those capabilities will be equally convenient, accurate or compatible in your factory. Those questions require a demonstration using your files and acceptance criteria.

Is ArtiosCAD the best choice for corrugated dielines?
ArtiosCAD is the strongest starting point when a Malaysian converter wants a broad, established structural-design-to-production workflow and needs to test several forms of integration. Its documented scope includes dedicated 2D and 3D design, corrugated and other packaging work, standards, fitments, preflight and die-making-related capabilities.
Its breadth matters if the same team needs to move from a structural concept to a 3D presentation, review assembly, check a CAD design and hand work toward manufacturing. The listed interoperability includes Illustrator, Cape Pack, STEP, IGES and SolidWorks, which makes it a sensible system to evaluate where files cross between structural designers and other departments or tools. The existence of an integration, however, does not confirm that a particular file exchange preserves every attribute your workflow depends on; test it with real projects.

ArtiosCAD is a baseline, not a substitute for checking the requirements of your plant. In a demonstration, ask the vendor to show how the team’s typical corrugated structures are built and revised, how 3D proofing reflects a changed design, and how the required manufacturing file is generated. Ask which outputs are included in the proposed configuration and which depend on additional components or local implementation work.
When does EngView make more sense?
EngView is a compelling alternative when a team wants a modular CAD/CAM suite and values a close connection between structural design and artwork. Its product description spans parametric drafting, 3D presentation, Illustrator integration, layout optimization, display nesting, costing, CAM and project organization, while the Professional bundle is specifically described as adding parametric components, waste comparison, cost models and cutting-plotter or laser output.
That distinction makes configuration a central procurement question. Ask the vendor to map each required task to the exact module and bundle in the quote rather than assuming that “EngView Packaging Suite” means every capability is included. Use a sample job to verify the full sequence from design adjustment to the outputs you expect; a list of modules is not an acceptance test.
A Glomat Malaysia-hosted brochure describes EngView modules for folding-carton and corrugated packaging, including parametric libraries, ECMA/FEFCO standards, 3D, sheet layout and CAM. Because the brochure is older, treat it only as a local lead: confirm current authorised status, version, implementation capacity and support SLA directly before relying on it for a purchase decision. The brochure does not establish current local pricing or current service commitments.

What is new in Arden Impact 2026, and who should consider it?
Arden’s 17 August 2026 release positions Impact for corrugated, carton and POP/POS packaging across structural design and manufacturing. The update is relevant to teams investigating repeatable design reuse, constraint-based changes and automation: it adds Design Similarity, Dynamic Constraints enhancements, native Python scripting and workflow plug-ins, alongside new standards and combinations.
Design Similarity is described as a way to find reusable designs and tooling layouts, which may be useful where teams have a substantial body of prior work. The release also says that 629 new standards create more than 1,000 additional design combinations. Those are vendor-announced product figures; they do not predict how many designs a Malaysian converter can reuse or how much time a particular workflow will save.
For a team considering the native scripting and plug-in capabilities, ask for a demonstration built around a real repetitive task, with an agreed input, expected result and review process. The release calls the update the first AI-powered capability in Impact, but the announcement does not specify enough detail to infer what it automates or how it affects a given dieline workflow. Evaluate the demonstrated function rather than assuming a general-purpose AI feature.
How should you run a fair software bake-off?
Give every vendor the same representative projects, starting files and expected deliverables. A useful evaluation set includes a FEFCO regular slotted carton, a multi-part or shelf-ready corrugated structure, a project with existing Illustrator artwork, and a sample-table or die-making output. Choose examples that expose your real sources of rework, not just designs that are easy to demonstrate.

- Prepare the test pack. Provide dimensioned requirements, the board thickness or caliper to be tested, any existing artwork, the desired output files and the acceptance criteria for each job. Keep the inputs and requested result consistent across vendors.
- Build the structures. Ask the vendor to create or adapt each design using the standards and custom geometry your team actually needs. Record how much must be drawn or corrected manually.
- Change dimensions and board thickness. Request a defined revision after the initial model is complete. Check whether a parametric or constraint-based rebuild preserves the intended geometry, and note any manual repair or redraw.
- Regenerate and review 3D proofing. Inspect the updated structure, folding and fit presentation. Record whether the team can identify the changes that matter to a customer or production reviewer.
- Produce a nested sheet and manufacturing outputs. Request the relevant layout and plotter, sample-table or die-making files. Have the people who receive those files confirm that they can open and use them in the intended downstream process.
- Score the work and support experience. Compare geometry integrity, revision speed, waste reporting, output compatibility, training burden and the vendor’s response to questions. Note any assumptions, configuration dependencies or extra steps instead of treating a successful demonstration as proof that every workflow is ready.
Keep a scorecard with one row per test job and one column per criterion. Define pass, partial pass and fail before the demonstrations; otherwise, teams may end up scoring an impressive feature rather than the outcome they need. Record the exact software version, proposed configuration and any required integration or implementation work alongside each result so that the evaluation remains tied to the offer being considered.

Public information cited for these products does not provide a like-for-like Malaysian price, tax-inclusive quote, implementation fee or support SLA across all three. Ask each vendor or authorised local channel for a quote using the same test jobs and acceptance criteria, then separate recurring licence costs from one-time onboarding, training, customization and support charges where those apply.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsLocal availability needs its own verification. The Glomat-hosted EngView brochure is a lead rather than proof of current authorised status or service capacity. Confirm the current version offered, who implements it, who handles support in Malaysia, the response commitments in writing, and whether training and troubleshooting can be delivered in the language and hours your team needs.
Before comparing totals, ask each supplier to state what licence model is being quoted, which modules or integrations are included, what workstation or network prerequisites apply, how updates are handled, and whether the offer covers the users and sites that need access. The available product material does not establish common answers for these commercial and deployment details, so they should be treated as quote and contract questions rather than assumed features.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Finally, include the people who will use and receive the files in the decision: structural designers, artwork operators, sampling staff, die-makers and IT or ERP owners. A system can cover the required functions on paper and still create friction if training, file handoff or support is weak. Make the purchase conditional on meeting the agreed bake-off outputs and documenting any exceptions.
How should you make the final choice?
Start with ArtiosCAD if broad workflow coverage and interoperability are the primary requirements. Put EngView beside it when modular configuration, structural-to-artwork connection, costing or specific Professional-bundle outputs are important. Add Arden Impact 2026 when design reuse, constraints or scripting deserve a direct test—especially if the team has substantial legacy work or automation plans.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does FEFCO support guarantee a box will perform correctly in transit?
No. A recognized structural standard helps define a design, but it does not alone establish performance for a particular board, load, converting process or transport environment. Validate the finished package against your customer’s requirements and any applicable testing protocol.
Can I move my existing dieline library into a new packaging CAD system?
The product descriptions do not establish a universal migration path or guarantee that legacy files retain editable structure, constraints or metadata after import. Ask the vendor to convert a representative sample of your actual files and show what remains editable before committing to a migration plan.
Will a packaging CAD file open correctly on every plotter or die-making system?
No interoperability list can answer that for every machine, software version or configured output. Have the receiving operator validate a real exported file on the intended downstream system, including units, scale and any required machine-specific settings.

What evidence should a supplier provide for a promised automation feature?
Request a live demonstration against a defined task from your workflow, plus a written description of inputs, outputs, required configuration and human review. This makes it easier to distinguish a capability that fits your use case from a feature label that is too broad to assess.
