Apple’s current compatibility list includes MacBook Air models with Apple silicon from 2020 onward, most Apple silicon MacBook Pro models from 2020 onward, and selected Intel MacBook Pro models. Mac mini and iMac models start at 2020, Mac Studio at 2022, and Mac Pro at 2019. Apple’s list also includes the 13-inch MacBook Neo with A18 Pro. The exact model and, for some MacBook Pros, its configuration matter.

How to check whether your Mac is compatible
- Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac.
- Note the model name, year, screen size, and chip shown. For a 13-inch 2020 MacBook Pro, check whether it has four Thunderbolt 3 ports.
- Compare those details with Apple’s model-specific compatibility list. If the model is listed, Apple says Tahoe can be installed on it.
For a compatible Mac, Apple directs users to Software Update to download and install Tahoe. See Apple’s upgrade instructions.

What compatibility does—and does not—guarantee
A Mac on Apple’s list can install macOS Tahoe 26, but that does not mean every Tahoe feature works on every supported computer. Apple cautions that some features may not be available on all Mac models or in all countries, regions, or languages. Check the details for any particular feature you need.
