Apple Intelligence is supported on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models or later running iOS 27. Apple says its on-device models use up to 8 GB of storage on other supported iPhones, and up to 14 GB on iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. That is space used on the device—not the iPhone’s total advertised capacity.
Which iPhones support Apple Intelligence?
Apple’s current requirements list iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, plus iPhone 16 models or later. The compatible phone must also run iOS 27. Apple does not list the standard iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus as supported in these requirements. See Apple’s current Apple Intelligence requirements for the official model and software list.
If you already own a listed model, you do not need a newer iPhone just to meet the model requirement. Whether a particular feature is available also depends on language and region.
How much storage does Apple Intelligence need?
Apple says the on-device models require up to 8 GB on other supported iPhone models. It lists up to 14 GB for iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. These are maximum stated storage requirements for Apple Intelligence models, not recommendations for the phone’s total capacity. “Up to” matters: the figures do not mean every supported iPhone will always use exactly that amount.

Make sure the phone has enough available space to accommodate the models. The requirement is storage occupied on the device; it is separate from the iPhone’s total capacity and from the storage needed by your apps, photos, videos, and other files.
Language and region requirements
Your iPhone’s device language and Siri language must be set to the same supported language. If you change Siri’s language, Apple Intelligence may remain unavailable until the language finishes downloading and matches the device language. Apple says availability varies by language and region; features continue to work when traveling to other regions after setup.

Mainland China restriction
Apple says supported devices purchased in mainland China do not currently work with Apple Intelligence. A device bought elsewhere also will not work there if you are in mainland China and your Apple Account country or region is set to mainland China.
