Use the requirements for the storefront you will install from. The developer launcher lists a much lower minimum than Steam: 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 750 Ti-class GPU versus Steam’s 16 GB and GTX 1060 6 GB minimum. Both list the same recommended CPU and GPU class and 32 GB of RAM. Storage also differs sharply, from the launcher’s 60 GB quick-package reservation to Steam’s 130 GB minimum and 200 GB recommended space.
For graphics, there is no verified universal “best” preset for every PC. Start at your monitor’s native resolution with the game’s preset, check motion and responsiveness in representative gameplay, then reduce the preset or resolution scale if the underlying frame rate is unstable. Only after the real rendered frame rate is adequate should you evaluate DLSS or frame generation.

Which Where Winds Meet requirements should you follow?
Follow the row belonging to the launcher you will actually use. The official developer launcher, Steam and Epic Games Store do not publish identical minimums or storage allowances, so combining the lowest CPU with Steam’s storage number—or treating the launcher minimum as a Steam minimum—can give you the wrong preparation checklist.

Developer launcher tiers
The official installation guide lists three desktop tiers. Its minimum calls for a Core i7-4770K or Ryzen 5 2400G equivalent, a GeForce GTX 750 Ti, Radeon RX 550 or Intel Arc A380 equivalent, and 8 GB of RAM. It specifies 60 GB of HDD space and recommends an SSD; this is an installation floor, not a promise of a particular frame rate.
The recommended tier moves to a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X equivalent, an RTX 2070 SUPER, RX 6700 XT or Arc A750 equivalent, and 32 GB of RAM. It lists 100 GB on an SSD. A separate high tier lists a Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 9 5950X equivalent, RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT graphics, and 32 GB of RAM, also with 100 GB of SSD space. No official frames-per-second target is attached to that high tier.

Steam tiers
Steam’s minimum is higher than the developer launcher’s: Core i7-7700K or Ryzen 5 1600, GTX 1060 with 6 GB or RX 480 with 8 GB, and 16 GB of RAM. Steam lists 130 GB available, DirectX 12, broadband connectivity and Windows 10/11 64-bit, with an SSD recommended.
Steam’s recommended row returns to the same CPU, GPU and memory combination as the developer’s recommended tier: Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 2070 SUPER, RX 6700 XT or Arc A750, and 32 GB RAM. Steam lists 200 GB available for this tier, plus DirectX 12, broadband and an SSD recommendation.
Epic Games Store tiers
Epic’s minimum mirrors the developer launcher’s processor, graphics and memory floor—Core i7-4770K or Ryzen 5 2400G, GTX 750 Ti, RX 550 or Arc A380, and 8 GB RAM—but lists 100 GB and DirectX 11. Its recommended row uses the same Core i7-10700/Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 2070 SUPER/RX 6700 XT/Arc A750 and 32 GB RAM combination, with 100 GB, DirectX 12 and an SSD recommendation.
Why do the storage requirements differ?
The numbers describe different distribution listings and package reservations, not a single universal install size. The developer launcher guide says to reserve over 60 GB for its quick package or over 100 GB for its standard package. It does not replace Steam’s published 130 GB minimum or 200 GB recommended allowance.
Steam’s larger allowance is the figure to plan around if you install from Steam. Epic users should use Epic’s 100 GB listing. Leave additional free capacity beyond the stated number when possible, because the developer warns that requirements may be adjusted in later updates; the published figures do not establish a fixed allowance for every future patch.

Is an SSD necessary?
An SSD is not listed as an absolute requirement in every row, but both the developer and Steam recommend one. The official installation guide says, “For the best experience, we recommend installing the game on an SSD.” An SSD is therefore the sensible target for a new installation, while an HDD only matches the developer launcher’s stated minimum storage medium.
Before installing, check the drive’s free capacity rather than its advertised total capacity. Use the requirement for your chosen storefront, then keep enough room for the operating system, launcher files and future updates. If the installer reports insufficient space, moving the game to a larger SSD or freeing space on the same drive addresses the storage constraint; it does not change the CPU or GPU requirement.
What does the laptop minimum mean?
The developer also publishes a laptop minimum equivalent to a Ryzen 7 5800HS processor, an MX450-class GPU, 8 GB of RAM and 60 GB of available storage, with an SSD recommended. That row establishes an installation floor for a laptop configuration; it is not evidence that every laptop meeting it will deliver a smooth or consistent frame rate.

Compare the actual GPU in the laptop, its memory, cooling and power mode with the named equivalent rather than relying on the model number alone. The published requirements do not provide laptop-specific frame-rate targets.
How should I choose a graphics preset?
Use a staged process instead of copying a claimed “best settings” list. Current sources do not establish a universal 1080p, 1440p or 4K preset, nor a reliable per-setting FPS ranking for the current build.
- Verify the installation route. Identify whether the game came from the developer launcher, Steam or Epic, then compare your CPU, GPU, RAM and free storage with that route’s row.
- Install on an SSD when available. This follows both the developer’s and Steam’s guidance and avoids treating the HDD-capable minimum as the preferred configuration.
- Start at native display resolution. Select the monitor’s native resolution and the game’s normal preset first. Do not begin by forcing an upscaler or frame generation mode.
- Play a representative section. Check camera movement, combat, traversal and busy scenes rather than judging only a menu or quiet area. Pay attention to responsiveness and uneven frame delivery, not just the largest number shown by an overlay.
- Lower image demand if the underlying frame rate is unstable. Reduce the preset or resolution scale in small steps and retest the same type of gameplay. This proposed workflow is not a published benchmark or a guaranteed configuration.
- Evaluate upscaling only after the base image is responsive. If the build exposes a supported upscaler, compare its image quality at the same output resolution and keep the setting only when it improves the trade-off for your hardware.
Changing several options at once makes it difficult to know which adjustment helped. Keep a short note of the preset, resolution scale and upscaler mode you used so you can return to the last responsive configuration after an update.
Does Where Winds Meet support DLSS and frame generation?
NVIDIA confirms DLSS Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation support for the game. Multi Frame Generation is identified with RTX 50-series GPUs; it is an optional feature path, not a requirement in any published system row. Ordinary upscaling, Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation are different controls, and the game may not expose the same options on every GPU.

DLSS Super Resolution
DLSS Super Resolution renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the output. It can be useful when the GPU is the limiting component, but it is a quality/performance trade-off rather than a replacement for meeting the recommended hardware tier. Select it only if the current build shows the control and your GPU supports it.
Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation
Generated frames can make motion appear smoother, but they do not create the same input responsiveness as additional fully rendered frames. AMD’s general FSR 3 guidance says interpolation looks best with at least 60 frames per second before interpolation, warns that going below 60 is not recommended, and says to avoid fewer than 30 pre-interpolation FPS. Those are technology-level guidelines, not measured Where Winds Meet results.
NVIDIA previously demonstrated up to 3.9× at 4K with maximum settings for Multi Frame Generation in a vendor presentation. That was a pre-global-launch demonstration, not an independent current-build benchmark and not a result every GPU achieves. Treat it as a vendor illustration rather than a performance promise.
What should I do if DLSS or frame generation is missing?
First confirm that the hardware and current build support the feature, then check the active rendering path. Steam players have reported that selecting the DirectX 12 launch option and inspecting the in-game Display or Super Resolution controls can reveal settings that were not visible at first. These reports are anecdotal and may stop applying after an update.

- Exit the game completely and relaunch it through the intended storefront.
- On Steam, verify that the DirectX 12 launch selection is being used when the game offers more than one launch path.
- Enter the game, open Settings, then inspect Display and the Super Resolution controls.
- Check that the GPU driver and operating system meet the feature’s requirements, without assuming that a setting available on one GPU family must appear on another.
- If the control remains absent, use the native-resolution preset workflow instead of forcing an unsupported option. The available controls can change with a game update.
NVIDIA’s older developer documentation for DLSS Frame Generation describes DirectX 12 and hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling for the integration it covers. That document is not a complete compatibility list for every current Where Winds Meet configuration.
Should I turn ray tracing off?
The available game-specific sources do not establish a current ray-tracing toggle or its performance cost. Do not apply a categorical “turn ray tracing off” rule to every installation. If a ray-tracing control appears in your build, evaluate it with the same native-resolution and representative-gameplay process as any other image-quality option.
NVIDIA announced on October 13, 2026 that a DLSS 5 game upgrade was coming in late November 2026. As of the October 29, 2026 information date, that upgrade was future-tense, so it should not be presented as an already released setting or as a reason to buy new hardware.

How much RAM and graphics hardware should I target?
For a new desktop build or upgrade, 32 GB of RAM is the common recommended tier across the developer launcher, Steam and Epic’s recommended rows. The minimum varies by storefront—8 GB on the developer launcher and Epic, 16 GB on Steam—but minimum memory should not be confused with the recommended configuration.
For graphics, the named recommended class is RTX 2070 SUPER, RX 6700 XT or Arc A750. A gaming graphics card should be judged against that tier, along with its power connector, power-supply capacity, case clearance and motherboard compatibility. An RTX 50-series card is relevant to NVIDIA’s Multi Frame Generation feature path, but no RTX 50-series model is required by the game’s published requirements.
Before buying components, verify the exact interface, power supply, physical dimensions and laptop or motherboard RAM support. The available information contains no verified retail prices or product-level benchmark results, so a purchase decision should not be based on an assumed FPS figure.

The requirements support a hardware and installation checklist, not a promised frame rate. The developer’s high tier has no official FPS target, and no credible current-build source establishes exact FPS gains for individual settings or a universal best preset at common resolutions.
