You cannot play all 12 nominees for the 2026 Golden Joystick Ultimate Game of the Year on one console. PC has the broadest documented coverage, while Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 each have important gaps. The practical approach is to choose a platform stack: PC for the widest access, PS5 for the confirmed Sony releases, Xbox for Microsoft’s racing and Play Anywhere titles, or Switch 2 for Nintendo’s Pokémon Pokopia plus the current Capcom ports.
The shortlist was announced on 26 October 2026. Ultimate GOTY voting closes at 23:59 GMT on 30 October, and the 44th ceremony is in London on 11 November. The guide below separates confirmed releases from titles whose console listings have not yet been documented, so you do not buy hardware based on an assumption.

Can one platform play every 2026 Golden Joystick nominee?
No. The shortlist is split across publishers and hardware generations, and Pokémon Pokopia is the clearest obstacle to a one-device plan. PC is the closest single platform: the 11 games with documented or strongly indicated PC paths are 007 First Light, Big Walk, CONTROL Resonant, Crimson Desert, Dispatch, Forza Horizon 6, Phantom Blade Zero, PRAGMATA, Resident Evil Requiem, STAR WARS: Galactic Racer and The Blood of Dawnwalker. Pokopia is the likely hole because its documented route is Nintendo’s Switch 2.
PlayStation 5 has confirmed access to 007 First Light, Phantom Blade Zero, PRAGMATA, Resident Evil Requiem and The Blood of Dawnwalker. Xbox Series X|S has confirmed access to 007, PRAGMATA, Requiem and Dawnwalker, with Forza Horizon 6 the natural Xbox destination. Switch 2 currently has the fewest confirmed nominee SKUs: PRAGMATA, Requiem and Pokopia, while 007’s port is not available during voting.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- PC digital stack: the widest documented selection, but plan for a 145 GB SSD installation for Phantom Blade Zero and an 80 GB SSD requirement for 007 First Light.
- PS5 stack: the five confirmed games above, with console listings still needed for Big Walk, Dispatch, Galactic Racer, CONTROL Resonant and Crimson Desert.
- Xbox stack: the confirmed Capcom games, 007 and Dawnwalker, plus the indicated Forza Horizon 6 route. Game Pass availability was not verified for these nominees.
- Switch 2 stack: PRAGMATA, Resident Evil Requiem and Pokémon Pokopia. Do not assume that a 2017 Switch, OLED or Lite model runs these 2026 releases.
Where can I play each Ultimate GOTY nominee?
007 First Light
007 First Light is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with all three versions launching on 27 May 2026. PC buyers can use Steam, the Epic Games Store or Microsoft Store. The Switch 2 edition is delayed until 18 March 2027, so there is no Switch version to play during the 2026 awards vote.
IO Interactive’s 22 October support information lists launch-day sizes, including the day-one patch, of 50.8 GB on PS5, 58.7 GB on Xbox and 53.2 GB on PC. The PC specification calls for Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-9500 or Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1660 or RX 5700-class GPU and an 80 GB SSD. Path tracing has been discussed in PC coverage, while the support article noted no ultrawide support at that time.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteXbox Play Anywhere lets an Xbox purchase run on Series X|S and a Windows PC, and IO Interactive says it is playable on ROG Ally through that entitlement. A one-time connection is needed for the day-one patch; the main campaign can then be played offline. An IOI Account is optional for the campaign and is needed only for some cosmetic rewards. Standard, Specialist, Collector’s and Legacy editions add different physical and cosmetic extras, with higher tiers including a lifesize mask, Golden Gun figurine and steel case.
Big Walk
Big Walk is House House’s cooperative adventure and is the shortlist’s clearest PC-first option. Steam imagery and its PC Game of the Year nomination document the PC route, with teamwork, voice chat, tools and gestures at the center of play.
PlayStation, Xbox and Switch store listings were not documented. Until a publisher or platform store confirms those SKUs, buy the PC version rather than assuming that a console edition exists.
CONTROL Resonant
CONTROL Resonant is Remedy Entertainment’s sequel to Control, following Dylan Faden through a Hiss-warped Manhattan. PC availability is confirmed by a September 2026 review and by PC path-tracing coverage; Frankie Kevich is nominated for Best Supporting Performer as Zoe de Vera.
A Console Game of the Year discussion treats the game’s absence as a snub, indicating a console release, but this information pass did not capture complete PS5, Xbox or Switch store pages. Treat PC as the fully sourced route and console versions as indicated rather than fully documented.
Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert is Pearl Abyss’s open-world action game set in Pywel. It is confirmed in the PC Game of the Year field and covered in a PC-focused review published on 18 March 2026.
Console coverage discusses its omission from the Console Game of the Year list, which indicates console availability, but complete PS5, Xbox and Switch SKU information was not documented. A PC purchase is therefore the reliable listed option; verify a console store page before buying for another platform.

Dispatch
Dispatch is AdHoc Studio’s narrative superhero workplace game, centered on Robert Robertson III, also known as Mecha Man. It is nominated for Ultimate GOTY, Best Storytelling, Best Soundtrack and Aaron Paul’s Best Lead Performer category. Steam screenshots in awards coverage indicate a PC release.
No PlayStation, Xbox or Switch listing was documented. The unusual release schedule allowed Dispatch to qualify across two awards years, but that qualification does not establish a console SKU.
Forza Horizon 6
Forza Horizon 6 moves the Horizon Festival to Japan and includes more than 550 real-world cars. Xbox Series X|S is strongly indicated by its Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games identity and its Console Game of the Year nomination. Steam artwork in awards coverage indicates a PC version as well.
PlayStation and Switch availability was not documented. Do not infer a PlayStation port from other multiplatform racing games, and do not promise Game Pass access: a current Game Pass catalogue listing was not verified for this title. TechTimes reported a Metacritic score of 92; that is a published score, not an independent test here.
Phantom Blade Zero
Phantom Blade Zero is S-GAME’s wuxia action RPG, in which Soul has 66 days to live. PC launch was 28 October 2026 and the wider launch, including PS5, was 29 October. That timing left voters only a short period with the game before Ultimate GOTY voting closes on 30 October.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The PC install is about 145 GB and requires an SSD. Minimum specifications are an i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 6 GB or RX 5500 XT 8 GB, 16 GB RAM and DirectX 12, targeting 1080p/30 with upscaling and ray tracing or path tracing disabled. Recommended hardware is an i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X, RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB or RX 6700 XT 12 GB, targeting 1440p/60 with upscaling. Xbox and Switch versions were not mentioned in the launch specifications.
Pokémon Pokopia
Pokémon Pokopia is a life-simulation game from Game Freak and Koei Tecmo, published by Nintendo outside Japan. You play a Ditto in human-like form while restoring a desolate world. Contemporaneous launch coverage lists Pokémon Pokopia for Switch 2, and its Console Game of the Year nomination reinforces that Nintendo route.
PC, PlayStation, Xbox and original Switch compatibility were not documented. Treat Switch 2 as the intended platform and do not buy the 2017 Switch family expecting compatibility until Nintendo publishes a clear listing.
PRAGMATA
Capcom’s PRAGMATA is confirmed on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam. Launch-week coverage places release in mid-April 2026, with sources listing 16 April and 17 April depending on the publication date. The Sketchbook demo appeared on PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, Xbox Store and PC.

This is one of the strongest buy-once, play-now clusters: the same nominee is available across all four current platform families. Capcom reported more than 2.5 million units sold worldwide in its results for the three months ended 30 June 2026. A Deluxe edition adds extras beyond the standard release.
Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW. GameSpot’s hub lists 27 February 2026 as the first release date. The game follows Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy in Raccoon City, and Angela Sant’Albano is nominated for Best Lead Performer as Grace.
Capcom reported more than 8 million units sold worldwide. A later sales article listed only PS5, Xbox Series and Steam, but that shorter line is incomplete rather than evidence of a Switch 2 or Epic delisting; the launch-platform listings remain the better guide. Requiem is the broadest physical and digital target on the shortlist if you want one game that spans the four current platform families.
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode with Lucasfilm Games, is a post-Empire racing game starring Shade against the Bool family. Steam screenshots in awards coverage indicate a PC version.

PlayStation, Xbox and Switch platforms were not documented. Until a store page is available, PC is the only citable route.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on 3 September 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam. Rebel Wolves’ dark-fantasy RPG follows Coen, human by day and vampire by night, under a 30-day story clock. Xbox Play Anywhere covers an Xbox purchase on Series X|S and Windows PC.
There is no Switch listing in the launch materials. A pre-launch report said the game would not be on Xbox Game Pass and would not support crossplay; treat the Game Pass statement as pre-launch information rather than a permanent catalogue guarantee. Editions include Standard, a digital Eclipse Edition with compendium, comic and soundtrack, a physical Day One Edition with steelbook and world map, and a Collector’s Edition with a printed compendium and 23 cm Coen figurine.

CONTROL Resonant, PRAGMATA and 007 First Light have also appeared together in PC path-tracing coverage. If your drive is nearly full, reserve space before downloading Phantom Blade Zero; its listed footprint is roughly 65 GB larger than 007’s required SSD allowance.

Which nominees support cross-device or cloud play?
Only a few portability and cloud options are documented. Xbox Play Anywhere is confirmed for 007 First Light and The Blood of Dawnwalker, allowing the Xbox and Windows PC versions to share an entitlement. GeForce NOW is listed for Resident Evil Requiem.
Game Pass status was not verified for Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Light, Resident Evil Requiem, PRAGMATA or The Blood of Dawnwalker. PlayStation Plus and Nintendo Switch Online catalogue inclusion was also not documented. Buy or subscribe only after checking the live service catalogue for your region.

Which other games are nominees in the PC and Console categories?
The Ultimate 12 are the list most readers mean by “GOTY nominees,” but two category ballots add games outside that shortlist.
Console Game of the Year
The 10-game Console GOTY field is 007 First Light, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Forza Horizon 6, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Nioh 3, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Pokémon Pokopia, PRAGMATA, Resident Evil Requiem and SAROS. Three are Capcom releases: Onimusha: Way of the Sword, PRAGMATA and Resident Evil Requiem.

PC Game of the Year
The 10-game PC GOTY field is Big Walk, Crimson Desert, Escape from Tarkov, Esoteric Ebb, MECCHA CHAMELEON, Mewgenics, Order of the Sinking Star, STAR WARS Zero Company, The Blood of Dawnwalker and Valheim. Games such as Escape from Tarkov, Mewgenics and Valheim are category nominees but not part of the Ultimate 12 guide above.
Why is Grand Theft Auto VI not on the ballot?
Grand Theft Auto VI is not a 2026 Golden Joystick Ultimate GOTY nominee because its scheduled 19 November 2026 release comes eight days after the 11 November ceremony. The voting window and eligibility period therefore close before the game launches.
