For a recommended-spec PC (RTX 3070 or RX 6800 XT, 16 GB RAM), start with High at native resolution. A minimum-spec machine (GTX 1060 or RX 580, 8 GB RAM) should start at Medium, falling to Low if it stutters. On Steam Deck, use Low, a 30-fps cap and reduced Steam resolution. The original Switch is a locked 720p version; Switch 2 is 1080p at a 30-fps target; Xbox Series listings advertise 4K, HDR and 60 fps. The only developer-confirmed visual accessibility toggle is scars on/off. Cel-shading is paid Prophecy Pack cosmetics, not a performance mode. Steam Patch 1.1 (26 October 2026) added mouse camera controls and sensitivity sliders.

| PC, recommended hardware | High image quality at desktop resolution | RTX 3070 8GB or RX 6800 XT; 16 GB RAM; High preset | Windows 10/11 (Steam, Epic, Xbox app) | Oct 2026 |
| PC, minimum hardware | Older gaming PCs | GTX 1060 or RX 580; 8 GB RAM; Medium, then Low | Windows 10/11 | Oct 2026 |
| Steam Deck | Portable play after tuning | Low preset, lowered Steam resolution, 30-fps cap | Steam Deck | Oct 2026 |
| Nintendo Switch (original) | Existing Switch owners | Locked 720p; heavy edge aliasing and soft textures | Nintendo Switch | Oct 2026 |

What graphics settings does Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest actually have?
The PC version has three confirmed overall presets: Low, Medium and High. Player reports and launch reviews do not show a conventional panel of independent texture, shadow, foliage, ambient-occlusion, anti-aliasing or upscaling sliders. Treat websites listing TAA, DLSS, FSR, XeSS, dynamic resolution or per-effect controls as unverified until the developer publishes a manual or adds those options.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
That limited menu matters when troubleshooting. You cannot lower only shadows or foliage to preserve a High preset; changing the overall quality level is the documented way to reduce load. A launch Steam review said High slowed the reviewer’s computer more than much larger games, so the official recommended GPU should be regarded as a target rather than a promise of a particular frame rate. No independent publication had supplied Low/Medium/High benchmarks at 1080p, 1440p or 4K by the time of this guide.
What the presets mean in practice
- High: the sensible starting point for the official recommended GPU. Use native desktop resolution and switch to Medium if traversal or battles hitch.
- Medium: the starting point for a PC around the minimum specification or a mid-range system below the recommendation.
- Low: the fallback for frame-time problems, especially on Steam Deck or when Medium still stutters. It is a global reduction, not a collection of individually adjustable effects.
Which PC settings should I use for my hardware?
Match the preset to the hardware tier below, then make only one change at a time. These are recommendations inferred from the official Steam requirements and launch player reports, not laboratory measurements.

| Hardware | Start here | Additional action | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTX 3070 8GB or RX 6800 XT, 16 GB RAM | High, native resolution | Use a gamepad or Steam Patch 1.1 mouse camera | This is the official recommended specification |
| GPU above GTX 1060/RX 580 but below the recommendation | Medium | Drop to Low if High or Medium stutters; close overlays | High has been described as unusually heavy at launch |
| GTX 1060 or RX 580, 8 GB RAM | Medium | Use Low if frame pacing remains uneven; a controller can avoid camera friction | This is the official minimum tier |
| Integrated graphics or less than 8 GB RAM | No supported target is established | Check the Steam requirements before buying | The published minimum calls for a discrete GTX 1060/RX 580-class GPU and 8 GB RAM |
Official Windows requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10/11 64-bit | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| Processor | Quad-core Intel or AMD, 2.8 GHz or higher | Hexa-core Intel or AMD, 3.2 GHz or higher |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 or higher | GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB) or Radeon RX 6800 XT or higher |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 4 GB available space | 4 GB available space |
The 4 GB figure is disk space, not memory. The small installation requirement does not imply that High will be easy to run: launch reports specifically describe High as poorly optimized relative to larger games.
How do I fix FPS drops, stutter or lag on PC?
Because the game exposes only a global quality preset, troubleshooting is a short sequence rather than a long slider-by-slider exercise.
Recommended Free Tools
- Confirm the baseline. In Windows, check that the game is using the discrete GPU, that DirectX 12 is available, and that at least 8 GB of system RAM and 4 GB of free storage meet the published minimum. A system below the minimum has no documented settings combination that guarantees smooth play.
- Start one preset lower. Change High to Medium, or Medium to Low, then restart a demanding scene or battle. If the hitching disappears, keep the lower preset; there are no confirmed texture or shadow controls for a smaller compromise.
- Use native resolution first. Keep the desktop resolution while diagnosing. If the preset change is insufficient, lower the game or display resolution as a second step. This reduces sharpness but is more predictable than relying on unconfirmed dynamic-resolution features.
- Close overlays and background capture. The hardware guidance for minimum PCs specifically recommends closing overlays. Disable recording, browser windows and launchers that consume memory before judging the result.
- Choose a controller when camera movement is the problem. Steam lists full controller support. A controller does not raise the GPU ceiling, but it avoids the launch keyboard-camera issue described by many players.
- Install current Steam updates. Patch 1.1 added the mouse camera, X/Y mouse sensitivity sliders, left-click confirmation/interact, right-click crouch and moved the exit key from P to Esc. It also included bug fixes and a Steam Deck resolution update. If those controls are missing, verify that Steam has completed the update.
- Report reproducible issues with specifications. Trailmark’s Patch 1.1 notice asks players to include PC specifications in feedback. Include GPU, CPU, RAM, resolution, preset and the scene where the hitch occurs; do not assume a frame-rate cause without a measurement.
There are no published frame-rate tables to justify claims such as “High equals 60 fps at 1440p.” Expect results to vary with drivers, background software and the specific area of the Lake Territories.
What are the best Steam Deck settings?
Use Low, cap the game at 30 fps, and lower the resolution through Steam’s properties. A ProtonDB player report also recommends enabling a sharpness filter after reducing resolution. Patch 1.1 specifically updated Deck resolution compatibility.

- Choose a lower display resolution in the Steam configuration available for the Deck.
- Launch the game and select the Low overall graphics preset.
- Set a 30-fps limit in the Deck’s performance overlay.
- If the reduced resolution looks soft, enable the Deck sharpness filter and check text readability.
Deck compatibility labels conflict: one launch-week guide called the game Valve Playable, while a later aggregator listed it as Verified. Those labels do not establish a default 60-fps experience. The practical, conservative setup remains Low, 30 fps and reduced resolution; Valve’s label may change as updates arrive.
How different are Switch, Switch 2 and Xbox graphics?
The console editions do not expose the PC Low/Medium/High menu, so the hardware choice determines image quality and frame-rate targets.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →| Version | Published or reported output | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Original Nintendo Switch | Locked 720p, including docked play | Heavy aliasing on geometry edges and very soft textures; there is no High preset to recover detail |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 1080p handheld and docked; 30-fps target | Vastly cleaner and sharper than Switch 1, although the 30-fps presentation remains apparent |
| Xbox Series X|S | Xbox Store listing: 4K, HDR, 60 fps | Best documented console frame-rate target; one digital purchase covers Series consoles and Windows through Xbox Play Anywhere |
| PlayStation 5 | PS5-only version; no resolution or frame-rate figure established here | DualSense vibration and adaptive-trigger effects are listed; Remote Play is supported |
If you own both Nintendo systems, buy the native Switch 2 listing rather than the Switch 1 SKU. The original version’s 720p output and aliasing are hardware limits, not options that can be repaired in a menu. Xbox’s 4K/HDR/60 description comes from the store listing; it is not a replacement for an independent performance test.
Which accessibility options are confirmed?
The clearest accessibility control is the scars toggle. In an IGN interview, Creative Director Adam Johnston said the on/off choice was intended to respect age groups, sensory comfort and player agency. The scars are stylized rather than graphic, and the ESRB rating is Everyone 10+ for Fantasy Violence.

How to turn off scars
- Open the game’s Options menu.
- Find the scars setting in the visual or gameplay options.
- Switch it off and return to the game. Scars earned from combat choices should no longer be displayed.
The Outerhaven’s PC review confirms that scars can otherwise persist through the end of the game. Turning them off changes presentation only; it does not remove battles or alter the turn-based combat system.
Subtitles, audio and controllers
| Language | Interface | Full audio | Subtitles |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Dutch | Yes | No full audio listed | Yes |
Steam lists full controller support, and a gamepad is the safest input choice on PC if the camera feels awkward. Patch 1.1 improved mouse camera control and added separate X and Y sensitivity sliders, but its notes do not confirm complete key rebinding.
Options that are not confirmed
Do not assume the game includes a colorblind mode, scalable UI text, high-contrast interface, camera-shake switch, combat-turn timer, closed captions or a full remapping screen. Launch reports specifically complained that controls could not be rebound, and Patch 1.1 lists mouse sensitivity rather than a complete binding editor. An official manual or later patch could change this; the current documented evidence does not establish those features.
Is the cel-shaded setting free, and does it improve performance?
No. Cel-shading is a character skin in the paid Prophecy Pack, bundled with the $39.99 Feral Edition; the standard game launched at $29.99, while the pack was commonly listed around $14.99 separately. It changes the cat’s appearance and is not an accessibility option, frame-rate mode or system-wide graphics preset.

In Prophecy Mode’s Cat Creator, the Cel-shaded choice appears in the footer beside Randomize, according to an access guide reported by GameSpace. The DLC also includes eight cat-creator accessories, 12 wearables, four photo-mode poses and four photo-mode effects. One PC review praised the look, while a critical Steam review said the shading could clip awkwardly with lighting; those are subjective observations, not a performance measurement.

Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is a licensed action-adventure and turn-based RPG from Bamtang Games, published by Trailmark Games, set in the Lake Territories from Erin Hunter’s books. It launched on 23 October 2026 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The listed PC storefronts are Steam and Epic Games Store, with the Xbox app version covered by Play Anywhere. No native Mac, Linux, mobile, PS4 or Xbox One edition is listed.

What should I buy if graphics are the deciding factor?
- Choose a recommended-spec PC if you want the adjustable High preset and native desktop resolution, accepting that launch reports call High demanding.
- Choose Xbox Series X|S if you already own the hardware and value the store-listed 4K/HDR/60-fps target plus Play Anywhere.
- Choose Switch 2 over the original Switch when portability and a sharper 1080p image matter. Both target 30 fps.
- Choose Steam Deck for portable PC access only if you are comfortable with Low, reduced resolution and a 30-fps cap.
- Choose the original Switch mainly when you already own it or need that SKU; its locked 720p output is visibly softer and more aliased.
Steam user sentiment was Mixed at the time of this guide: 48% of 1,464 reviews were positive on the store page, while a same-week aggregator snapshot showed 49% of 1,373. Those figures change over time and do not measure graphics performance.

How we picked these settings
The recommendations use the official Steam minimum and recommended specifications, confirmed player reports about the three available PC presets, documented platform output claims, and developer-stated accessibility information. Where no official manual, console patch note or independent benchmark exists, the article labels the gap instead of filling it with a guessed slider, frame rate or compatibility promise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the game support HDR on PC?
HDR is explicitly stated for the Xbox Series store listing, but the supplied PC specifications and confirmed settings do not establish a Windows HDR toggle. Treat PC HDR support as unconfirmed rather than assuming the console feature carries over.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Can I use a mouse and controller together after Patch 1.1?
Yes. The detailed Steam note summary says mouse and arrow-key camera input can work together, while a controller remains supported. The update added separate X and Y mouse sensitivity controls, but it did not document a full keyboard-binding editor.
Will my scars disappear from an existing save when I disable the option?
The documented behavior is a presentation toggle in Options; it does not erase the combat choices that caused scars. Switch the setting off and check the character in-game, and turn it back on later if you want the visual record restored.
Is the Prophecy Pack required to play the main game?
No. The standard launch edition contains the base game, while the Prophecy Pack adds Prophecy Mode content and cosmetic creator items such as the cel-shaded skin. The Feral Edition bundles the base game with that pack.
Does the Xbox Play Anywhere purchase include the Steam version?
No. Play Anywhere links the Xbox Series console license with the Windows Xbox app version. Steam and Epic purchases are separate PC storefront licenses.
