Set up Ethernet on the PS5
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the PS5’s LAN port to an available LAN port on the router or a wired network switch.
- On the console, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.

How do I update router firmware for a PS5 connection problem?
PlayStation lists current router firmware as a remedy to try for certain connection errors. The exact buttons and update file depend on the router manufacturer or ISP, so use that provider’s documented procedure rather than a generic firmware file.
Safe update sequence

What PS5 advanced network settings should I change?

Multi‑Link Operation and IPv6
MLO appears only on supported CFI‑7000 model-group consoles and depends on compatible network equipment; its presence is not a reason to invent a custom value. PS5 supports IPv6, but it does not support an IPv6-only connection. A home network that disables IPv4 entirely therefore cannot be treated as a supported PS5 setup.

- List every box between the PS5 and the internet: ISP gateway, mesh system, standalone router, switches and access points.
- Open each device’s status page or app and note which devices show a public or upstream address and which are operating only as access points or switches. Labels differ, so consult the device manuals.
- Determine which single device you want to provide routing, DHCP and NAT for the home. Ask the ISP before changing a provider-managed gateway.
