Stay in motion, use Cloak to break contact, let your Pilot health regenerate instead of panic-peeking, and swap BT-7274’s loadout whenever the arena changes. Those habits matter more than memorizing a single weapon or Titan build.
Titanfall 2 is a 2016 Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts action FPS with a complete solo campaign starring Militia rifleman Jack Cooper and Vanguard Titan BT-7274. A focused story run takes about five hours according to GameSpot (2016), but a player new to FPS movement may need around 10 hours, while achievement and helmet cleanup commonly takes 7–12 hours. Yes. The campaign is the safest place to learn Titanfall’s unusual mobility before multiplayer. It introduces wall-running, double-jumping, sliding, Titan combat and the strengths of different loadouts in controlled scenarios. Prima Games described completing the campaign as highly recommended preparation for multiplayer, while GameSpot called it a place to learn the game’s movement and combat basics.
You play Jack Cooper, a Militia Rifleman who wants to become a Pilot. After the operation on IMC-controlled Typhon goes wrong, Cooper inherits BT-7274 and must complete Special Operation 217 behind enemy lines. Respawn said it prototyped more than 100 action blocks before locking the missions, and kept the relationship between Cooper and BT as the campaign’s constant even as traversal, puzzles and combat change dramatically.

What is the best difficulty for a first playthrough?
Regular is the best default for anyone with some shooter experience. Choose Easy if you are new to FPS games or mainly want to see the story and collect helmets. Save Master for a later run after you know encounter layouts; Hard is a reasonable challenge for experienced shooter players.

The difficulty can be changed from the menu after The Pilot’s Gauntlet, and Mission Select lets you replay completed missions. Difficulty trophies stack when you finish on Master, so many players do a relaxed Regular or Easy story run and return later for Master and helmets. Nothing important is permanently missable.
How do I learn Titanfall 2 movement?
Movement is your main defense. As GameSpot put it, the faster you are, the harder you are to kill. Run The Pilot’s Gauntlet more than once before speaking to Captain Lastimosa and locking in a difficulty.
- Scan ahead for walls. Jump Kits enable wall-running, wall-hanging and double-jumping. Look for vertical surfaces and chain one wall-run into the next instead of treating each wall as a separate jump.
- Slide on landing. Hold crouch before touching down from a jump or wall-run; the slide starts as your feet hit the ground. A slide preserves momentum through low gaps and makes your movement harder to track.
- Jump out of the slide. Jump from a slide into the next wall-run. This repeated loop—wall, air, slide, wall—keeps speed through combat spaces.
- Crouch for control. Crouching helps with tight passages and steadier shooting. Use it while running to initiate a slide.
- Keep moving during fights. You can shoot while wall-running. Standing still is usually more dangerous than taking a less accurate shot while moving.
For Gauntlet practice, enable Auto-Sprint in Options. TrueAchievements’ timing notes suggest staying above roughly 35 km/h by remaining airborne and wall-running; throwing grenades slows you, and spending less time clinging to a wall is faster than lingering on it. The course’s target times are 56.65 seconds for The Student… and 33.65 seconds for a top-three finish in …Becomes the Master, but those are optional challenges, not campaign requirements.
The first Pilot Helmet (1 of 46) is in the Gauntlet. Near the final area, wall-run along the left side onto the floating platform overlooking the finish. Grab it if it is obvious, but do not delay starting the story to chase a perfect time.

How does health and Cloak work for a Pilot?
Pilots have no visible health bar. After you avoid damage for several moments, your health returns to full. Break line of sight, hide, or activate Cloak instead of repeatedly peeking an unwinnable angle.
Titanfall 2 Cloak campaign tips
Cloak is the campaign tactical ability. On Xbox it is mapped to LB; the EA PC manual lists Q. It hides Cooper for a short duration, but firing a weapon or throwing a grenade ends it immediately. Use it to cross a dangerous lane, revive your position behind cover, or bypass a group on Master rather than insisting on clearing every room.
Starting a Spectre hack while cloaked can consume Cloak before the hack finishes, so cloak first to reach safety and hack only when you have time. Cloak also enables a held-melee takedown that unlocks the Apex Predator achievement. Tap melee for a quick strike; hold it for a takedown.
Targets and weak spots
- Grunts: weak human enemies; headshots drop them quickly, while melee is efficient against a tight cluster.
- Drones: destroy these early because their fire makes movement routes unsafe.
- Spectres: robots that can be hacked with the Data Knife in the campaign. A hacked Spectre draws fire and can sometimes chain to nearby Spectres.
- Stalkers: tougher robots that cannot be hacked. Shoot the head; bullets into the orange back pack can trigger an explosion that kills you at close range.
- Ticks: spider-like bombs. Keep distance; shooting them causes detonation.
- Reapers: heavy enemies that appear on foot in Into the Abyss. Aim for the head and waist, use electric smoke, and expect Ticks when they die.
How should I use BT-7274’s Titan loadouts?
BT is the campaign Titan, not a Titan class you choose once at the start. New weapon loadouts appear on the ground throughout the story. Open the Loadout Database from the pause menu and switch whenever the range or enemy type changes; the menu pauses the game, so there is no reason to panic-pick.
Titans have a health bar. Batteries replenish it, dashes help you evade fire, defensive abilities should be held for incoming volleys, and Core abilities are strongest when you commit to a push. If BT dies while you are disembarked, the game returns you to the checkpoint, so protect him during mixed Pilot-and-Titan sections instead of wandering too far away.

The first sewer weapon pickup in Blood and Rust also grants a new Core. Tone is the early Mission 3 pickup after the opening Titan skirmish. Achievement guides consider BT’s loadouts effectively unmissable because missed kits are granted later, but walking over each one lets you use it immediately.
Which loadout should I use against each boss?
Boss encounters are easier when you match BT’s kit to the arena. These recommendations come from Prima Games’ campaign guide; they are not a universal multiplayer tier list.

At the end of BT-7274, raise your own shield when an enemy raises theirs so you do not lose a Vortex or shield trade. In Blood and Rust, firing Burst Core immediately after an enemy Titan’s shield drops is a straightforward way to learn Core timing. Keeping Lt. Shaver and Lt. Freeborn alive for Close Shave is fiddly on Master; return on a lower difficulty rather than repeatedly resetting the arena.

Should I collect all 46 Pilot Helmets on the first run?
Only if you enjoy exploring. There are 46 glowing Pilot Helmets across the nine missions, and any difficulty counts. Mission Select recovers missed helmets, so a practical approach is to grab obvious ones during a Regular story run and clean up the rest on Easy later.

The first three are in the Gauntlet finish area, just after the second long wall-run in BT-7274, and on wreckage to the left after the second battery. Achievements or trophies award milestones at 10, 25 and all 46 helmets. Do not stall the story for a helmet hidden behind a difficult jump; you can return without losing your save.

Steam community user WithoutWarning estimated four to five hours for experienced movement players and about 10 hours for someone brand new to FPS mechanics. A Master run with helmets is commonly described as roughly eight to 10 hours by an Xbox Achievements guide. A raw longplay of all nine missions can be a little over three hours, but that is a speed-agnostic floor and not a realistic beginner schedule.

The game remains sold on Steam, commonly as Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition. The Steam listing showed a $29.99 list price when checked for this guide, with discounts varying over time.
