What exactly is The Wolf Among Us Remastered?
Remastered is a rebuilt presentation of Telltale’s original five-episode narrative thriller. The story, directorial choices and overall art direction are preserved rather than rewritten. Telltale describes the project as elevating the game people already know, not replacing it with a new interpretation.
The package contains all five episodes: Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf. Your decisions, investigations and relationships still unfold in that same order, with the same central mystery and cast. What changed between the original and Remastered?
The upgrades affect nearly every layer of presentation, but they are designed to support the original staging rather than alter its plot. Telltale moved the game to a newer version of its engine, created new shaders and relit every scene after discovering that scene changes required fresh lighting work.

Character models and textures
Character art was rebuilt from the initial concept work through high-end models and the final in-game versions. The goal was recognizability: characters such as Bigby Wolf retain their established silhouettes and design language while gaining substantially more surface detail.
Bigby’s werewolf form receives one of the most visible redesigns. The remastered version is described by its director as more feral and powerful while remaining faithful to the original game’s identity. That means the transformation should read as a more detailed version of the same character, not a new creature design that changes the scene’s meaning.
Lighting, environments and animation
Every scene was relit for the newer engine and shader system. Audio, resolution and frame-rate presentation

Interface and accessibility
The remaster includes interface updates and accessibility improvements. Those changes are intended to make menus, prompts and play on current hardware easier to navigate, but the launch information does not list every individual accessibility option. If you need a specific feature, check the platform store’s current feature list before buying.
Noir Mode
Noir Mode is the largest new presentation option. It converts the game to a black-and-white look inspired by classic detective cinema. You can switch between the normal remastered color presentation and Noir Mode during the complete story, so choosing one at the beginning does not lock you into it for every episode.
Noir Mode changes the visual treatment, not the narrative content. Dialogue, choices, episode order and outcomes remain those of the original five-episode game.
Behind-the-scenes and archival material
Remastered adds more than one hour of supplementary video and interview material. The package includes cast interviews, developer commentary, image galleries, concept art, restored material and playable deleted scenes. These additions are separate from the main campaign, so they expand the context around the game without inserting new story chapters into the five-episode structure.
Does Remastered change the story or choices?

Is Remastered worth buying if you already own the original?

The additional interviews, commentary, galleries, concept art, restored material and playable deleted scenes make the remaster more attractive to fans interested in how the game was made. More than one hour of bonus content is included according to the launch materials.
Keep the original when the existing story is enough
If you already own and have finished the game and only want to replay the same narrative, the original still provides that experience. Consider sequel continuity separately
Remastered offers a documented way to link defining choices to The Wolf Among Us 2 through a Telltale Account. That may matter if you want your playthrough associated with the sequel’s setup. Can you transfer an original save into Remastered?
