Yes. Nintendo has officially announced a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 that adds a dedicated jump command and modern right-stick camera control—the clearest repairs to two long-standing complaints about the 1998 Nintendo 64 game. It launches exclusively on Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. “Biggest problem,” however, is an editorial judgment: Nintendo has published a feature list, not a ranking of the original game’s shortcomings.
What problem does the Ocarina of Time remake fix?
The remake addresses the original’s unusual movement and camera systems. Nintendo says players can “jump and run freely with newly added button commands” and use the Right Stick for improved camera control. Nintendo’s Singapore product description similarly promises that Link can jump and dash through the action with enhanced controls and modern camera movements.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →In the N64 release, Link did not have a normal jump button. Running toward a ledge triggered an automatic jump, while movement speed encouraged players to chain rolls. The arrangement was deliberate rather than an oversight: a 2011 report on an Iwata Asks discussion quotes Satoru Iwata describing The Legend of Zelda as the game in which “you don’t press a button to jump,” and confirms that Ocarina of Time originally had a button jump during development before auto-jump was adopted.
GamesRadar identifies the lack of a manual jump, roll-based traversal and the original camera as recurring player complaints. The announced button commands and right-stick camera therefore target the most visible control limitations, even though Nintendo does not label any one of them the game’s single biggest problem.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Is “biggest problem” an official Nintendo claim?
No. Nintendo’s September 8, 2026 announcement describes the remake as rebuilt with new visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music and reworked controls, but it does not rank the original’s flaws. Calling the control scheme the “biggest problem” is a reasonable editorial framing for the headline, not an official Nintendo verdict.
The distinction matters because the remake is changing far more than jumping. It is a broad reconstruction of presentation, navigation and supporting systems rather than a single-system patch.

Nintendo is also adding systems aimed at exploration, replayability and accessibility. The Threads of Time display tracks progress and objectives, while Zelda Notes adds daily records, location-hint quests, a virtual ocarina and an Ocarina of Time quiz containing more than 2,000 questions. The remake supports microphone-responsive ocarina play, and the Hall of Fallen Heroes provides rematch battles.
These additions are layered on top of the rebuilt world rather than replacing the original adventure. Nintendo describes the project as “a classic tale, built from the ground up for the Nintendo Switch 2 system.”

When does it release, and what does it cost?
Nintendo lists November 5, 2026 as the release date, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The regular price is $59.99, and Nintendo estimates a 27 GB game file size. A physical edition has also been announced. The game is single-player and supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes on Switch 2.

Is the remake worth buying if I already played the original?
For returning players, the strongest reason is the control redesign: a real jump command and right-stick camera address friction that cannot be changed by simply increasing resolution. The rebuilt visuals, orchestral score, voiced and expanded scenes, remodeled locations, faster loading and new progression tools offer a substantially different presentation of the same story.

What is still unknown before launch?
The announcement is not a review. As of the October 27, 2026 reporting date, the game has not reached its November 5 release, so there are no independent tests in this information set for final frame-rate behavior, image quality, loading measurements or the practical feel of the new controls. Nintendo’s feature list establishes what it plans to ship; it does not establish performance under every play condition.

What should former N64 players expect on day one?
Expect the same single-player quest framework presented through a substantially modernized interface: press a button to jump, use the Right Stick to adjust the camera, follow updated progress guidance and explore locations rebuilt for Switch 2. The remake’s central change is therefore practical as well as cosmetic: it removes the need to rely on contextual jumping and repeated rolls while preserving the original adventure’s structure.
