How do you use the Sunbeam glass kettle?
The operating sequence is straightforward, but the fill level and lid position matter for both performance and safety.
- Open and fill: Press the lid button and add clean water to a level between the minimum and maximum marks. Do not exceed the 1.7L maximum; the guide warns that overfilling can eject boiling water.
- Lock the lid: Close the hinged lid until it locks. The kettle should not be operated with the lid open or partly latched.
- Seat the jug: Place the kettle on its 360-degree base. The cordless design lets you lift and replace it without aligning a fixed connector.
- Start heating: Press the on/off switch. The blue illumination indicates that the kettle is heating.
- Wait for shut-off: The kettle is designed to switch off automatically after the water boils. Lift it from the base by the handle and pour carefully.
- After use: Turn the appliance off and unplug it when it is not in use, as directed by the manual.
Never move the kettle while it is switched on, and never run it empty. If the water level is below the minimum mark, add more before starting a cycle.
Does the KE6450K boil quickly?

The Good Guys’ review summary includes noise among the occasional criticisms. ProductReview.com.au reports a 3.0/5 noise sub-score from four reviews, while that site gives the product 4.8/5 overall. Does the Sunbeam glass kettle switch off automatically and is it safe?
Yes. Sunbeam documents a three-way safety system: automatic shut-off after boiling, a boil-dry cut-out and an overheating shut-down. The automatic switch-off is intended to end a normal boil; the other two protections are safeguards if the kettle is run without enough water or becomes excessively hot.

For one or two drinks, fill to the nearest marking rather than automatically boiling a full jug. That reduces waiting and avoids reheating water you will not use. Always remain at or above the minimum mark so the kettle’s heating and boil-dry protection operate within the conditions described by the manufacturer.
Is the lid and pouring design convenient?
