To add a third-party Steam bundle to your account, reveal the codes in the seller’s order page, sign in to the Steam account that should own them, and activate each separately supplied Steam key through Games > Activate a Product on Steam. Then open Library and install the activated titles. Do not assume that every bundle item has a separate code: a single key-only package can grant multiple products, while a Steam store bundle has no bundle key at all. DLC may appear inside its base game rather than as a separate Library entry.
The menu names and retailer workflow below reflect Valve and retailer documentation available October 30, 2026. Individual sellers can use different order-page labels, and a key’s platform or region restrictions still apply.

What should I prepare before redeeming bundle keys?
Have access to the purchase record, every code supplied with the order, and the Steam account that is meant to keep the licenses permanently. You also need the Steam desktop client if you want to install immediately; browser registration can register a code but does not install a game on your computer.
- Purchase record: Open the seller’s order history or key-inventory page.
- Platform labels: Confirm that each code is marked for Steam. Bundle retailers can sell items for several platforms, and a non-Steam code cannot be entered in Steam.
- Account: Sign out of other Steam accounts or verify the account name before entering the first code. Activated licenses normally stay with the account used for registration.
- Tracking list: Record each code’s product name and result (activated, duplicate, invalid, or region-restricted). Never publish the codes or store them in an unprotected document.
- Storage: Make sure the computer has enough disk space for the games you intend to install. Activation and downloading are separate operations.
Do not start by assuming that the number of games advertised equals the number of codes. Some offers list a soundtrack, expansion, or other downloadable content alongside full games. Others use one code configured to grant several products. The seller’s item list and Steam’s confirmation screen are the authoritative checks for what you actually received.

Keep the order number and payment receipt available. If a code fails, the retailer will generally need the order details and the exact error, but never send a complete key in a public post or an unprotected support forum.
How do I reveal the keys in a bundle order?
Use the seller’s own order page to expose the codes. The exact labels differ, so follow the platform instruction shown beside each item rather than assuming the whole order is Steam-compatible.

Fanatical’s support workflow is Your Account > Order History and Keys > View Order and Keys > Reveal Key. Reveal one item, read its platform designation, and copy the code exactly. Select Redeem for an individual Steam game only after confirming that the item is intended for Steam. This is a retailer-specific example, not a universal menu path for every bundle seller.
Inventory the order before entering anything
- Write down the displayed product name next to each revealed code.
- Mark whether the item is a full game, downloadable content (DLC), or another entitlement.
- Separate Steam codes from codes for other stores or launchers.
- Count the codes you actually received. A missing code may mean the package uses one multi-product key or that the seller has not released an item yet; check the order description before contacting support.
- Note any country or region wording beside the item. Restrictions can differ between products in the same order.
If a retailer offers a one-click Redeem link, it should still lead you through activation for that individual product. Verify the Steam account shown in the resulting page or client before confirming.
How do I activate each Steam key in the desktop client?
For a normal bundle made of separate Steam keys, repeat the activation flow once for every Steam-designated code.
- Open the Steam desktop client and sign in to the account that should own the games.
- Choose Games > Activate a Product on Steam. Valve also documents + Add a Game > Activate a Product on Steam as an alternative route.
- Read the product-registration terms, continue, and enter one Steam key. Paste carefully or type it exactly as displayed.
- Confirm the product name Steam shows before accepting. If it is not the expected title, stop and check the code and seller record.
- Finish activation and note the result in your tracking list.
- Return to the same menu for the next separately supplied key. Do not combine several codes in one field.
When Steam accepts a code, the entitlement is attached to the signed-in account. Activation does not download files; use the Library’s Install control afterward. A successful registration is therefore not evidence that the game is already present on the disk.

Can I register a key in a browser instead?
Yes. Valve provides browser-based product-key registration as another way to register a Steam code. The browser route and the desktop-client route perform the registration, but you still need the Steam client (or the relevant installation workflow) to download and play the game on a PC.

Whichever route you choose, check the account identity first. Registering on the wrong account is not a way to create a transferable spare license. If you register several keys in a browser, make a note of each confirmation and then open the client on that same account to locate the resulting products.

Do I have to activate every key separately?
Only when the seller supplied separate keys. There is no universal “redeem the whole bundle” command for third-party bundles: each independently listed Steam key needs its own activation attempt.

There are two important exceptions to the one-code-per-game assumption:
- Multi-product key-only package: Valve allows a key-only package to grant multiple products. One successful activation can therefore add more than one entitlement. Verify the confirmation and your Library contents before looking for another code.
- Steam store bundle: Valve’s Steamworks documentation states that Steam Bundles do not have the ability to have keys associated with them. A direct Steam store bundle is a store transaction, not a single “bundle key” that you should expect to receive by email.
Because sellers package products differently, compare the order page’s item list with the activation confirmation. Never infer that a missing second code is an error until you have checked whether the first key grants multiple products. Conversely, do not assume that one code will unlock every advertised item when the seller clearly lists separate keys.
How do I find and install the games after activation?
Use the Steam client’s Library after each successful registration. A game can be owned before it is installed.
- Open Library and search by the product name shown in the activation confirmation.
- Clear restrictive filters if the title is not visible. Steam can hide entries when a collection, platform, or installed-only filter is active.
- Select the game and choose Install, then select the destination and confirm the download options.
- Repeat for each standalone game you activated. Downloading one title does not automatically install every other key in the order.
If you redeemed through a browser, allow a moment for the account’s Library to refresh after opening the client. Search for the exact product name rather than only the bundle’s marketing name. A compilation may register its constituent games under their individual titles.

Where does redeemed DLC appear?
DLC is often attached to its base game rather than listed as an independent game. Open the base title in Library and inspect its DLC area or choose Properties > DLC. If the code was accepted but no new standalone tile appears, check this location before reporting a missing game.
The same applies to some soundtracks and other non-game entitlements: activation can succeed without creating a separate launchable tile. Check the base product’s management view and the activation confirmation for the exact item name.
What is the difference between bundle and key models?
The entitlement model determines what you should expect to receive and where to look for it.

Steam’s direct-store bundle rules also differ from third-party key handling. Valve distinguishes Complete The Set, which charges for items you do not already own, from Must Purchase Together, which cannot be bought if you already own an included item. Those rules do not promise a spare gift copy when a separately supplied third-party key duplicates an owned game.

In practical terms, a store bundle is purchased inside Steam, while a retailer bundle key is registered after the purchase elsewhere. Do not use the store-bundle rules to predict how a third-party seller will handle duplicate or missing codes.
What should I do when Steam reports a problem?
Read the exact error first. “Duplicate,” “invalid,” “unavailable in your territory,” and “missing from Library” have different remedies.
“Duplicate product code”
Steam uses this message when the key is already tied to a Steam account. Check your other accounts and the activation log to see whether it was redeemed elsewhere. If you are certain the code was never successfully activated, contact the retailer for a replacement; Steam does not provide a button to transfer that license to another account.
Do not repeatedly submit the same code or assume that a duplicate can be converted into a gift. Preserve the order evidence and ask the seller to investigate its issuance history.
“Invalid product code”
First confirm that the seller designated the code for Steam, then re-enter it while checking look-alike characters such as letters and numbers. If it remains invalid, send the retailer the order details and error message. Adding a non-Steam title with Add a non-Steam game only creates a Library shortcut; it does not convert an Epic, GOG, or other entitlement into a Steam license.
Check that you did not copy an order label, redemption URL, or wallet code instead of the actual product key. If the platform is correct and the transcription is accurate, stop testing and let the retailer handle the failed code.
“This item is unavailable in your territory”
Regional restrictions are set by the publisher and can differ by key. Steam Support says it cannot remove a region restriction or refund a CD key purchased from another retailer. Check the package’s stated regions and ask the seller about an unsuitable purchase; do not treat a VPN as a legitimate fix.
A bundle can contain several keys with different regional terms, so a successful activation for one game does not prove that every other item is usable in the same country.

The code was accepted, but the game is missing
- Confirm that the client is signed in to the account used for activation.
- Remove Library filters that hide uninstalled or uncategorized titles.
- Choose View > Hidden Games and search again.
- Check the base game’s DLC view or Properties > DLC if the redeemed item is an add-on.
- Review the activation confirmation for a different product name or a multi-product grant.
If none of these checks finds the entitlement, contact the retailer with the order number and the Steam activation result. Avoid sending the full key in a public forum. Include the platform label and a masked screenshot so support can distinguish a missing item from a successful multi-product activation.

How can I avoid losing track of a large bundle?
A simple ledger prevents repeated attempts and makes a support request easier to resolve.
- Use one row per code, with the seller’s product name, platform, and date revealed.
- After activation, record the exact Steam product name and whether it is a game or DLC.
- Mark duplicate or invalid results without deleting the original code or order evidence.
- Keep the seller receipt and screenshots of error messages, but redact the key itself.
- Install only after the activation list is complete if you want to verify that every entitlement arrived; installation is optional and can happen later.
- For a multi-product result, list every product shown in Steam’s confirmation rather than creating a second, speculative row.
These records also clarify whether an apparently absent item is a missing code, a multi-product key result, a DLC attachment, or a Library display issue. They are especially useful when a bundle contains codes for several platforms and only some belong in Steam.

No. A Steam Wallet gift card adds account funds and is not a product-activation code. Use the product-key activation flow only for a code explicitly identified as a Steam game or DLC key.
What if my bundle includes a code for another launcher?
Leave it out of Steam and follow the platform named by the seller. Steam’s “Add a non-Steam game” option can place an external game in your Library as a shortcut, but it does not redeem or manage that platform’s license.
Can I give a duplicate key to someone else?
Do not assume so. A duplicate message means the code is already tied to a Steam account, and the documentation does not promise a gift copy or a transferable license. Ask the retailer about its replacement policy instead of attempting repeated registrations.
Will Steam Support fix a key bought from another retailer?
Steam Support can explain Steam-side errors, but its region-restriction guidance says it cannot remove a restriction or refund a CD key bought from another retailer. For a retailer-issued invalid, duplicate, or unsuitable code, the seller is the appropriate first contact.
Where should I look if only the soundtrack or add-on is missing?
Open the associated base game and inspect its DLC list in Library or under Properties > DLC. A non-game entitlement may not create a separate, launchable game tile even when activation succeeded.
What if I already own one game in the bundle?
For separate third-party keys, Steam may report the owned title’s code as duplicate. Do not expect the key to become a spare copy or to reduce the price of the other items. The direct Steam store’s Complete The Set and Must Purchase Together behaviors apply to Steam store transactions, not to a retailer’s separately issued codes.
Can I activate the remaining keys later?
The activation flow itself does not require every code from one order to be entered in a single session. Keep unused codes secure and follow any terms the seller displays. When you continue, sign in to the same intended account and update your ledger after each result.

How long can I wait between activating keys from the same order?
The activation steps do not require that codes from one order be redeemed in one session. Keep the order record and unused codes secure, then redeem them whenever you are ready, subject to the seller’s stated validity or regional terms.
Why did one activation add several games?

What evidence should I send a retailer for a failed key?
