Yes—if you want comfortable, awareness-friendly earbuds for everyday listening, the SoundPEATS UU2 is unusually good value at about $49. Its clip-on, open-ear design delivers surprisingly full sound from a 12 mm driver, up to 10 hours per charge and 42 hours with the case. You also get Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint and physical buttons without paying premium-earbud prices.
The compromises are important: calls are only average, the companion app feels unfinished, and the clips can shift during very intense exercise. The UU2 (called POP Clip2 on its packaging, Bluetooth menu and support documents) is best understood as an inexpensive daily-listening and light-workout earbud, not a sealed noise-blocking model or a specialist running headset.

The UU2 is a clip-on open-ear earbud that sits beside the ear rather than sealing the ear canal. SoundPEATS uses air conduction and a 12 mm dynamic driver, so music travels through the air while your ear remains physically open. That is different from both sealed in-ear earbuds and bone-conduction headsets.
The open fit lets you hear conversations, doorbells and nearby traffic naturally. It also means there is no passive ear-seal isolation. In a loud train, busy street or airplane cabin, outside noise will compete directly with your music, and low bass will depend more on how the clip sits against your ear.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
SoundPEATS says UU2 and POP Clip2 are the same product. UU2 is the marketing name; POP Clip2 is the model name used on packaging, in Bluetooth settings and in support material. Seeing either name during setup does not indicate a different version.
Are the UU2 worth $49?
For buyers prioritizing comfort, environmental awareness and value, yes. Ashley Thieme’s Tom’s Guide review after two weeks of use found impressive sound across genres, all-day comfort, reliable physical controls and exceptional value at the sub-$50 price. Those are listening impressions from one reviewer, not laboratory measurements, but they address the practical questions most shoppers have.
The value becomes less compelling if you need consistently clear phone calls, a polished equalizer app or a clip that cannot move during sprinting and jumping. More expensive open-ear designs can improve one or more of those areas, but the UU2’s low price leaves room for its limitations.
What you get for the money
- A genuinely open ear, with no ear-canal plug.
- A 12 mm dynamic driver with support for SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs.
- Bluetooth 6.0 and multipoint connection for switching between two paired devices.
- Up to 10 hours of playback per earbud and up to 42 hours including the charging case.
- Physical buttons rather than touch-only controls.
- IPX5 resistance for sweat and light splashes, but not immersion.
How good is the UU2 sound without an ear seal?
It sounds better than the price suggests. Thieme reported strong performance across different genres, with enough body to make everyday pop, rock, podcasts and electronic music enjoyable. A 12 mm driver helps provide bass presence even though the ear is not sealed.
There is a physical limit to open-ear bass: sub-bass will not feel as pressurized as it does with a sealed in-ear tip, and placement changes the tonal balance. If the speaker sits slightly farther from your ear, bass and detail can drop. That is normal for this category rather than evidence of a defective unit.

How to get the best sound
- Place the speaker so it points toward the opening of your ear, not behind it.
- Adjust the clip until it rests securely without pressing painfully on the cartilage.
- Use the companion app’s equalizer only after achieving a stable physical fit; software cannot restore bass lost through poor placement.
- Keep the volume moderate in noisy places. Raising volume to overcome traffic noise reduces the awareness benefit and can increase listening risk.
LDAC support can provide higher-quality Bluetooth transmission with compatible phones, while AAC and SBC cover broader device compatibility. Your phone and playback app must support the selected codec, and higher-quality modes can affect battery life or connection stability.
Do the clips stay put for workouts?
They are stable for walking, commuting, desk work and ordinary gym sessions. The two-week review found them comfortable for all-day wear and workouts, but noted slight movement during high-intensity exercise. Ear shape matters: a position that locks in for one person may feel loose for another.
For running intervals, court sports or repeated jumping, test the fit before relying on them. If the clip moves, sound and bass can change as well as comfort. A hook-style design such as JLab Epic Open Sport is intended for more demanding movement, while Soundcore AeroClip is positioned as a more secure option with clearer calls. Those alternatives cost more or use a different shape, so they are not direct upgrades in every category.
Workout checklist
- Shake your head and walk briskly before starting a run.
- Check that the speaker remains aimed at the ear opening after several minutes.
- Wipe away sweat after use and let the earbuds dry before charging.
- Do not use them for swimming or submersion; IPX5 covers sweat and light splashes only.
How long does the UU2 battery last?
SoundPEATS rates the earbuds for up to 10 hours on a charge and up to 42 hours total with the case. Those are manufacturer figures; actual time varies with volume, codec, multipoint use and call time. The 42-hour figure includes recharges from the case rather than 42 continuous hours from the earbuds.
The case makes the UU2 practical for commuting or travel because a short session can be topped up between uses. If you stream at high volume or use LDAC continuously, expect less than the maximum rating. Charge both earbuds in the case and confirm their contacts are clean if one side appears not to recharge.

Are calls clear on the SoundPEATS UU2?
Calls are the clearest reason to consider spending more. Thieme described call quality as mediocre. The open design does not block surrounding voices, and microphones must pick up your speech while managing environmental noise. In a quiet room, calls can be usable; on a windy street or beside traffic, the person on the other end may hear distractions.
If your earbuds are mainly for music, podcasts and staying aware outdoors, this limitation may be acceptable. If you take frequent work calls, compare models specifically for microphone performance rather than assuming a higher driver count or newer Bluetooth number guarantees better speech.
How do the controls and app work?
The UU2 uses physical buttons, which the review found responsive and dependable. A real click is easier to confirm while walking or wearing gloves than a touch surface that can misread hair, rain or accidental contact. Button assignments can vary by firmware, so check the current in-app control screen rather than relying on a generic shortcut list.
The companion app is the weak point. Thieme found it clunky, so expect more friction when changing equalizer settings, checking firmware or customizing controls than with polished premium ecosystems. Pairing and playback do not require constant app use; once the earbuds are configured, you can generally use the phone’s Bluetooth controls.

Can you hear traffic and people while listening?
Yes. Because the ear canal is not blocked, you can normally hear nearby speech and traffic without activating a transparency mode. That awareness is the central reason to choose open-ear earbuds for walking, office work or cycling on roads where local rules permit audio use.
Awareness is not the same as guaranteed safety. Loud music, poor visibility and unpredictable traffic remain hazards, and a noisy environment can tempt you to increase volume. Keep one earbud or lower playback when you need to concentrate on surroundings, and follow local regulations for cycling or running with headphones.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you set up the UU2?
- Charge both earbuds in the case, then open the lid.
- On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and select “POP Clip2” or the displayed UU2 name.
- Install the official companion app only if you want firmware updates, equalizer adjustments or control customization.
- Fit each clip with the speaker aimed at the ear opening and walk around to check stability.
- Pair a second device through the app or Bluetooth settings if you need multipoint, then verify that switching works before relying on it for work.
If pairing fails, remove the old entry from your phone’s Bluetooth list, place both earbuds in the case, close and reopen the lid, and pair again. If only one earbud plays, check charging contacts and confirm that the phone has not connected to a different saved audio device.

Who should buy the SoundPEATS UU2?
Buy it if your priorities are low cost, open-ear awareness, long battery life and comfortable listening for music, podcasts and calls in relatively quiet places. It is a particularly sensible first open-ear purchase because the compromises are visible in everyday use rather than hidden behind a premium price.
Choose another type of earbud if you need strong isolation on aircraft, consistently excellent microphones for meetings, swimming protection or a fit guaranteed for explosive exercise. The UU2 does not try to solve those problems; its achievement is delivering a convincing open-ear experience for around $49.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the SoundPEATS UU2 have active noise cancellation?
No. It is an open-ear air-conduction design without active noise cancellation, so outside sound remains audible and music will not be isolated like it is with sealed earbuds.
Can I use the UU2 with an iPhone and an Android phone?
Yes, its Bluetooth connection and AAC/SBC support cover common iPhone and Android use, while LDAC availability depends on the Android device and its settings. Multipoint is useful when switching between two compatible paired devices.
Is IPX5 enough for rain?
IPX5 is intended for sweat and light splashes, not immersion. Avoid swimming, showering with the earbuds or leaving them exposed to heavy rain, and dry them before returning them to the charging case.
Why does the bass change when I move the earbud?
Open-ear sound depends on the speaker’s distance and angle relative to your ear opening. Repositioning the clip so the driver points directly toward the opening usually restores fuller bass more effectively than increasing volume.
