Measure these points before ordering
- Check finished height. Measure from the completed floor surface to the lowest obstruction, including overhead cabinets, cornices and lighting. The recommended 1,980 mm installation height leaves substantially more room than the cabinet itself.
- Check the full width. Allow for the approximately 700 mm recommended installation width rather than measuring only the 600 mm cabinet. Confirm that side panels, walls and handles will not obstruct the door.
- Check depth and rear clearance. Plan around the approximately 770 mm installation depth, including the plug, lead and ventilation space. Do not assume a 720 mm cabinet will finish flush with shallow cabinetry.
- Check the hinge side. The door is fixed to the right-hand hinge. Ensure that a wall, tall pantry or island will not block opening, because the hinge cannot be transferred to the other side.
- Check delivery access. Measure entrances, corridors, lifts and turns. The refrigerator’s height and depth can be more restrictive during delivery than the kitchen opening itself.
The 10A plug-and-lead connection means it uses a conventional electrical outlet rather than a water line. Keep the outlet accessible and follow the installer and retailer guidance for ventilation and levelling.

To estimate electricity cost, multiply 323 kWh by your retailer’s tariff per kilowatt-hour; use the result as a comparison baseline, not a bill forecast. A tropical climate, poor ventilation or frequent door opening can increase consumption.
When comparing another refrigerator, compare its energy label and annual kWh under the same regional scheme. Newer FAB32 models may display different ratings or consumption figures, so their numbers should not be carried over to the NA1.
What warranty and service coverage do you get?
Australian retailer listings document a five-year warranty covering parts and labour. The listing evidence does not establish whether every seller offers identical claim procedures, transport arrangements or exclusions, so read the terms attached to the specific invoice and seller.
The appliance is made in Italy and uses a standard 10A electrical connection. Before purchase, confirm who performs in-home service in your area, whether discontinued-model parts remain available and whether the warranty follows the original purchaser or the appliance. ProductReview.com.au lists the model as discontinued and contains one detailed owner account. That reviewer described constant flooding, defrosting, food spoilage, broken plastic pieces and a damaged seal, then reported excellent service from Smeg. One historical account can help you ask better service questions, but it cannot establish a failure rate or predict the experience of every owner.
Smeg Philippines describes a related, newer FAB32RPG5 variant as blending iconic 1950s design with modern innovation. That statement is official marketing for the newer variant, not independent evidence about the NA1’s performance, and its specifications should not be used for this review.
Is the Smeg FAB32RPGNA1 discontinued, and what does it cost?
Availability is unsettled. Appliances Online displays an offer of $4,040, while Winning Appliances shows a $2,990 comparison price and marks the product no longer available. The retailer pages do not provide a publication date for those figures, so treat them as listing snapshots rather than a guaranteed current price.
