The SleepTailor Craftsman is discontinued, so it is not a model to buy new from the current SleepTailor range. Its appeal was a choice of firm, medium or plush comfort—including different feels on each side for partners—but its old specifications, prices and 10-year warranty describe the discontinued model, not a current offer. If you are replacing one, Snooze now lists the Gold, Platinum and Bespoke mattresses; the right choice depends especially on your preferred feel and whether you need an adjustable base.
Is the SleepTailor Craftsman still available?
No. CHOICE labels the Craftsman a discontinued model, and Bedbuyer’s review is dated 7 June 2021. That makes it a historical review, not confirmation that a retailer can still supply the mattress. Any remaining second-hand or old-stock listing should be treated separately: check the seller, exact model and condition, and do not assume the old warranty or retailer terms will transfer.

The practical replacement question is whether you want the Craftsman’s two-sided feel customization, its reported pocket-spring construction, or a particular base compatibility. Snooze’s current SleepTailor lineup is Gold, Platinum and Bespoke. Those models share some broad features with the Craftsman, but the available evidence does not establish that any one is a direct successor or an identical construction.
What did the Craftsman cost, and what were its specifications?
CHOICE’s historical product record gives a useful snapshot of the queen-size listing. Its prices are not current quotes: CHOICE shows a list price and a sale/after-bargaining figure, neither of which should be used to estimate today’s replacement cost.

The listed 36.5 cm height matters when checking a bed frame or fitted sheets, but it is only one part of fit: confirm the replacement mattress dimensions against the bed’s actual internal measurements. CHOICE’s figures apply to the queen listing; they are not a spec sheet for every size.
How did the Craftsman feel, and could partners choose different firmnesses?
Bedbuyer described three feels—firm, medium and plush—and reported that the two sides could be ordered with different firmness levels. That side-by-side choice is the Craftsman’s most distinctive practical feature for couples who do not agree on one feel.
What the firmness numbers mean
Bedbuyer’s firmness guide rated Firm at 7.5/10, Medium at 5.5/10 and Plush at 4/10, describing the Firm option as medium-firm. These are the reviewer’s guides, not laboratory measurements or universal firmness standards. A number from one review cannot guarantee how a particular sleeper will experience the mattress.

Bedbuyer also reported pressure relief in all sleeping positions. That is a reviewer observation rather than a controlled test result, and comfort depends on the sleeper and chosen feel. If buying a replacement, use the stated feel labels as a starting point, then check the retailer’s current options and any opportunity to try or exchange the model before committing.
What Bedbuyer reported about couples
Bedbuyer described the Craftsman as having sound edge support and minimal partner disturbance, while noting that disturbance varies with the occupants’ size. These observations offer a clue about the reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee that movement will be unnoticeable for every couple. The independently customized sides address a different issue: they let partners select different feels without choosing two separate mattresses.
What was inside the Craftsman?
Bedbuyer reported that all versions used Dutch stretch-knit fabric, wool-blend fibre cushioning and premium foams, alongside TwinTech® pocketed coils. The review also identifies an Aerate 3D gusset. Together, those details describe the reported cover, comfort materials and spring system; they do not establish the precise composition or thickness of each layer.

CHOICE records 13 layers and 266 pocket springs per square metre for its queen listing. The two sources describe the construction at different levels of detail, and the available specifications do not justify assuming that every size or firmness configuration has exactly the same internal build.
Can the Craftsman go on an adjustable bed?
Bedbuyer explicitly advised against using the Craftsman with an adjustable electric base. If you already own one, or need a mattress that bends with an adjustable base, do not treat the Craftsman as a safe fit based only on its spring construction; Bedbuyer’s recommendation is to avoid that pairing.
Snooze’s current SleepTailor page says every feel except Ultra Firm is adjustable-base friendly. That is a statement about the current range, not a retroactive approval for the discontinued Craftsman. Confirm the compatibility of the exact current model and feel with the retailer before ordering.

What replaced the Craftsman?
Snooze currently lists SleepTailor Gold, Platinum and Bespoke, plus a SleepTailor Base. The current mattress range is described as made to order, with independently customized sides, German-made Nested Duo pocket springs, four feels and 15-year warranties. The shared SleepTailor name and custom sides make these relevant alternatives, but available information does not identify a one-for-one replacement for the Craftsman.

Start with the requirements that can rule a mattress out, rather than choosing by tier name alone. An adjustable base is a clear example: the Craftsman is not recommended for one, while the current range has a specific exception for Ultra Firm. Then compare the feel and the precise current terms for the model you are considering.

- Decide whether a shared mattress with different sides matters. The Craftsman supported different firmness levels across the bed, and Snooze describes independently customized sides in the current range. Ask which pairings can actually be ordered on the specific model, since the broad range description does not list every combination.
- Choose the feel before comparing prices. The current range lists Ultra Firm, Firm, Medium and Plush. The Craftsman had Firm, Medium and Plush, with Bedbuyer’s firmness numbers serving only as a historical reviewer’s guide. Ask for a current explanation of how the retailer defines each feel.
