Is the SleepMaker Ventura firm or medium?
CHOICE records the Ventura as firm, but that is a claimed feel rather than a publicly available independent measurement. The available information does not establish whether the Ventura feels firm to every sleeper, or whether a particular used example still feels as it did when new.
Firmness is only one part of fit. If you can inspect a Ventura in person, lie on it in your usual sleeping position and check whether your shoulders and hips feel comfortable and supported. For a used mattress, allow for the possibility that wear has changed its feel; the original firmness claim cannot tell you how much it has sagged or softened.

This distinction matters: knowing that a mattress has pocket springs and 14 layers does not show how it performed in a test, how evenly it supports a sleeper, or how it will wear over time. A fair assessment can confirm the recorded design and dimensions, but cannot claim that the Ventura is durable, cool-sleeping or better-performing than another mattress on the basis of those specifications alone.
There is also no Ventura-specific owner-review aggregate established here. ProductReview.com.au’s 3.7/5 score across 412 reviews is for the SleepMaker brand page, not this model; individual model reports vary. It should not be treated as a Ventura rating.

If you are weighing up an old Ventura against a current mattress, compare like with like: size, firmness feel, support design, condition, thickness and base compatibility, warranty terms, and whether you can try the mattress in-store. A current listing for a different product is not a direct price comparison. For example, Harvey Norman’s Smart Rest page displayed A$549 for the selected single size when it was crawled; it describes a different Australian-made pocket-spring mattress with Climatex quilting, Dreamfoam cushioning, Ultra-Fresh treatment, four comfort feels and a 120-month express warranty. That single-size listing does not establish the price or equivalent specifications of a queen Ventura.
Can you still buy a SleepMaker Ventura mattress?
CHOICE labels the Ventura discontinued, so it should not be assumed to be available as a current model. A retailer or private seller may still have old stock or a used example, but the available information does not establish a current official listing, replacement model or verified source of remaining stock.
If one is offered, establish exactly what is being sold before paying. Ask whether it is new, floor stock or previously owned; get the manufacturing or purchase date if available; and inspect it in person. For a used mattress, inspect the sleeping surface and edges for visible dips, unevenness, stains or damage, and ask whether it has been stored appropriately. A clean cover alone does not confirm that the mattress core is sound.

What should you check before buying a used or leftover Ventura?
Because the model is discontinued and public performance scores are unavailable, the condition and terms of the individual mattress matter more than its original specifications. Use this checklist before committing:

- Age and history: Ask for the original invoice and the clearest available purchase or manufacturing date. The Ventura’s age can affect both condition and any remaining warranty.
- Sagging and wear: Look across the surface from several angles for dips or uneven areas, then lie on the mattress to check whether it feels level. Ask the seller about its use and whether it has been rotated.
- Base compatibility: Confirm the base type and size are suitable for the mattress, and check the full 201.5 × 152 cm footprint and 30 cm height against your room and bed setup.
- Warranty paperwork: Request the original invoice and the warranty terms that apply to this specific purchase. Do not assume a warranty transfers to a second owner or covers a mattress bought as clearance or floor stock; confirm those points with the retailer or SleepMaker.
- Price: Treat the recorded A$1,199 list price and A$899 sale-or-bargained price as historical only. Judge the asking price against the mattress’s present condition, usable warranty and comparable current options.
- Trial opportunity: If possible, try the exact mattress in-store rather than relying on a generic “firm” label or a different example of the model.
What warranty applies to a SleepMaker Ventura?
The available sources do not establish a Ventura-specific warranty length or confirm whether warranty coverage remains for a particular mattress. SleepMaker says warranty periods vary by range from five to ten years, and Beds R Us says SleepMaker selections carry either five- or ten-year warranties against faulty workmanship or materials. Those general statements do not identify which term applied to the Ventura or settle whether a particular purchase remains covered.
Before buying, ask the seller or SleepMaker to confirm the applicable warranty in writing, including its start date, what proof of purchase is required, whether the coverage can transfer, and how it applies to floor stock or a second-hand sale. Is the SleepMaker Ventura worth buying?
It may be worth considering if the individual mattress is in demonstrably good condition, suits you when tried, fits your base and room, and is priced with its age and warranty status in mind. Its known pocket-spring construction, firm claim and dimensions provide a useful starting point, but they are not enough to establish comfort, durability or value by themselves.
Be more cautious if the seller cannot establish the mattress’s age, refuses an inspection, or relies on the historical price as proof of value. With no publicly visible Ventura-specific expert scores and no established model-specific owner rating, the decision should turn on the exact mattress in front of you and the documentation you can verify.
