Verdict: The Sleeping Duck Mach II is worth considering if you and your partner need different firmness levels or you are genuinely unsure what feel suits you. Its replaceable foam modules let you change firmness at home, and the 100-night guarantee adds a practical safety net. The trade-off is a premium Australian price—AU$1,649 for a Queen in 2026—and warranty conditions that are narrower than the headline “10 years” suggests.
This review explains the current Mach II system, dated Australian prices, adjustment process, trial and return terms, warranty exclusions, construction evidence and the situations in which its customisation is or is not worth paying for.

The current product is the SD Mach II — The Next-Gen Mattress, a modular hybrid sold in Australia. Sleeping Duck describes it as a “Customisable Mattress System” using replaceable foam components over twice-tempered steel springs. The foam is advertised as Global Green Tag Certified Foam. Unlike a conventional mattress, the firmness is not permanently fixed at delivery: selected internal Precision Foam Pads can be swapped later.
Three starting configurations are shown on the official buying page: Medium, Firm and Half-half. Half-half is the split option for couples who want different feels on their own sides. It is offered for Queen, King and Super King sizes, rather than every size in the range.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Sleeping Duck’s own guidance is about comfort preference, not medical treatment. The company states it is not a medical professional source, so firmness suggestions should not be treated as advice for a diagnosed condition.

The Queen price was also listed by Bedbuyer in a review updated September 14, 2026. That independent listing supports the AU$1,649 figure, but you should still check the live checkout total for your postcode, stock status and any changed terms before ordering.
At these prices, Mach II sits in the premium part of the Australian mattress market. The extra cost is easiest to justify when two sleepers would otherwise need separate mattresses, or when replacing a mattress after a firmness mismatch would be expensive and inconvenient.
How does the firmness customisation work?
Mach II’s main differentiator is that firmness can be changed without sending the whole mattress back to a factory. The process is modular: you request another Precision Foam Pad, receive the replacement and swap the relevant component at home.
Choose a starting feel
At checkout, choose Medium, Firm or Half-half. Medium and Firm are single-feel choices; Half-half divides the mattress so each side can have a different firmness. Because the split configuration is limited to Queen, King and Super King, couples using smaller sizes cannot select two feels in one cover.

Request a different feel after delivery
Soft and Extra Firm Precision Foam Pads are available after purchase, in addition to the starting choices. Sleeping Duck recommends trying a firmness for 21 nights before requesting another adjustment. That waiting period gives your body time to adapt and prevents rapid changes based on the first few nights.
- Sleep on the delivered configuration for at least 21 nights unless a serious product problem requires earlier contact.
- Contact Sleeping Duck’s customer team (SDHQ) and explain which side or section needs a different feel.
- Follow the supplied swap instructions when the new Precision Pad arrives.
- Keep the removed component safely in case you later want to reverse the change during the guarantee period.
The modular design is particularly useful for couples whose preferences differ or for sleepers who cannot confidently predict whether Medium or Firm will work in a showroom. It does not make every firmness change free forever: the official guarantee covers firmness swaps during the 100-night period, while the warranty excludes changes made because your preference or needs changed.
What does the 100-night guarantee actually include?
Sleeping Duck states that its 100 Night Guarantee applies to the mattress and bed accessories. Within the period, the company says it will either swap the firmness or provide a full refund, with free return shipping subject to the guarantee terms.
This is more useful than a standard “comfort exchange” because you can test the mattress in your own bedroom and still choose a different module. The practical limitations matter:
- You must complete the required process and meet the guarantee’s terms; the promise is not an unconditional return with no questions asked.
- The official FAQ limits guarantee returns to two mattresses per household.
- The recommended 21-night evaluation period applies before another firmness adjustment, so repeated rapid exchanges are not the intended workflow.
- Free return shipping is stated for an eligible refund, but confirm the current terms at checkout because logistics and exclusions can change.
A 100-night window is long enough to expose pressure, support or partner-disturbance problems that may not appear during a brief store test. It also means you should keep the mattress clean and retain order details while you evaluate it, because the guarantee is administered against the purchase and its stated conditions.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
The warranty is a 10-year limited mattress warranty, not a promise that every comfort concern will be repaired for a decade. The official warranty applies to mattresses bought directly from sleepingduck.com by the original purchaser and sets conditions for the base, sleeper weight and type of defect.

| Warranty point | What the stated terms mean |
|---|---|
| Eligible purchase | Direct purchase via sleepingduck.com by the original purchaser. |
| Base requirement | A firm, flat base or a properly supported slatted base. |
| Weight condition | Each sleeper must be no heavier than 140 kg for the stated warranty conditions. |
| Sagging threshold | Indentation or sagging must be greater than 30 mm to qualify. |
| Likely remedy | A successful claim replaces the affected component; it does not automatically replace the entire mattress. |
| Warranty clock | The warranty period does not restart after a replacement component is supplied. |
The terms exclude firmness preference changes, natural foam odour, an inadequate base, accidents, ordinary wear and indentations of 30 mm or less. A sleeper who becomes uncomfortable because their preference changes cannot use that reason as a warranty defect, even though the modular system may allow a paid or guarantee-period firmness change.
Before buying, photograph the base and keep the invoice. If you use slats, make sure the support is firm and properly designed for a foam-and-spring mattress; the warranty’s base condition is a requirement, not merely setup advice. Also check that every regular sleeper meets the 140 kg condition, because exceeding it can remove the stated warranty protection.

Sleeping Duck’s current retail description confirms a modular hybrid construction, twice-tempered steel springs and Global Green Tag Certified Foam. It does not publish every current layer dimension in the buying-page material summarized here.
CHOICE’s publicly visible specification summary lists a pocket-spring core, 253 springs per square metre, 10 layers, a 44 kg weight and 32 cm thickness. However, CHOICE marks that listing as a discontinued model. Those figures are useful historical context, not guaranteed specifications for the current Mach II. Do not use the 32 cm or 44 kg numbers to size sheets, frames or delivery access without confirming the current model’s measurements with Sleeping Duck.
Is Sleeping Duck good for side sleepers and couples?
It can be a strong fit for couples and for sleepers who are uncertain about firmness, because the split-side configuration and replaceable pads address preference differences more directly than a fixed-feel mattress. The product’s customisation is a practical feature, not evidence of a medical benefit.
For couples with different preferences
Half-half lets one side begin Medium while the other uses Firm, or otherwise use the available split configuration. Each person can then pursue a later adjustment on their side rather than compromising on one shared feel. This avoids the cost and bedroom space of two separate mattresses, but only Queen, King and Super King sizes support the listed split option.

For side sleepers
Side sleepers often care about pressure relief at the shoulder and hip, but the supplied evidence does not establish a medical outcome or a universal best firmness. Use the 100-night period to assess whether your shoulder, hip and spine feel comfortable after normal sleep, and change the pad only after the 21-night evaluation recommended by Sleeping Duck.
Motion transfer and edge support
No published independent measurements provide motion-transfer or edge-support scores for the current Mach II. Bedbuyer reviews comfort, support, build quality and value, but no quantified edge or motion results are established here. Couples who prioritize minimal disturbance or full use of the edge should specifically test those traits during the home trial rather than assuming the spring count or modular design guarantees them.
How does Mach II compare with other mattress approaches?
The fairest comparison is not a brand-versus-brand scorecard; it is whether the extra modularity solves your problem. The table separates what is established for Mach II from information that varies by alternative and must be checked model by model.
| Decision factor | Sleeping Duck Mach II | Fixed-feel hybrid or foam alternative | What to verify before choosing an alternative |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firmness after delivery | Replaceable Precision Foam Pads; Medium, Firm and Half-half starting choices, with Soft and Extra Firm available after purchase. | Usually fixed, but policies vary. | Whether an exchange changes the whole mattress, uses a topper or is unavailable. |
| Different sides for couples | Half-half on Queen, King and Super King. | Not stated; depends on the model. | Whether split firmness is built in and whether both sides remain supported. |
| Home trial and returns | 100-night guarantee with firmness swap or eligible full refund and free return shipping under terms. | Not stated; each seller sets its own window and pickup rules. | Minimum nights, pickup fees, cleaning rules and household limits. |
| Warranty remedy | 10-year limited warranty; qualifying defects generally lead to component replacement. | Not stated. | Who is covered, base requirements, sagging threshold and whether the remedy is a part or a whole mattress. |
| Independent current specifications | Current retail page confirms modular hybrid construction; CHOICE’s visible measurements are for a discontinued listing. | Not stated. | Whether published dimensions and test data apply to the exact model currently sold. |
Mach II is therefore differentiated by adjustability rather than by a proven independent performance lead. A cheaper fixed mattress may be the better value when both sleepers already agree on firmness and the return policy is generous. A modular mattress is more defensible when avoiding one wrong firmness purchase is worth the premium.
What are the main advantages and drawbacks?
Advantages
- Unusually broad firmness choice: Medium, Firm and split Half-half at purchase, with additional Soft and Extra Firm pads available later.
- At-home changes: You can replace a component instead of shipping the complete mattress to a factory.
- Couple-friendly design: Different sides can be selected on eligible larger sizes.
- Long evaluation window: The 100-night guarantee allows a real bedroom test and an eligible refund.
- Clear defect threshold: The warranty specifies a measurable sagging threshold rather than leaving “sagging” undefined.
Drawbacks and risks
- Premium Queen price: AU$1,649 is substantial if you do not need split firmness or post-purchase adjustment.
- Adjustment patience required: Sleeping Duck recommends 21 nights before another change, so finding the right feel can take several weeks.
- Warranty eligibility is narrow: Direct purchase, original-purchaser status, a suitable base and the 140 kg-per-sleeper condition all matter.
- Comfort is not a warranty defect: Preference changes, normal wear, foam odour and indentations of 30 mm or less are excluded.
- Component, not automatic whole-mattress replacement: Even a successful claim may replace only the affected part, and the warranty term does not restart.
- Current performance data is limited here: Historical CHOICE dimensions are marked discontinued, and no current independent edge or motion measurements are established.
What should you check before ordering?
- Measure the room and access route. Confirm the current packaged and assembled dimensions with Sleeping Duck rather than relying on the discontinued CHOICE measurements.
- Choose the size based on the split requirement. If you need two firmnesses, select Queen, King or Super King; smaller sizes do not show the listed Half-half option.
- Inspect your base. It must be firm and flat or a properly supported slatted base for the stated warranty conditions.
- Confirm sleeper weights. Each sleeper must be no heavier than 140 kg for the warranty conditions described by Sleeping Duck.
- Save your purchase records. Direct purchase and original-purchaser status are part of warranty eligibility.
- Plan the trial. Keep the mattress clean, allow the recommended 21 nights before another firmness request and use the 100-night period to assess pressure, support, temperature and partner disturbance.
- Read the live terms. Prices, stock, return logistics and guarantee wording can change after the 2026 figures reported here.
Who should buy the Sleeping Duck Mach II?
Buy it when customisation is the reason you are shopping: partners disagree about firmness, you have repeatedly chosen the wrong feel, or you value changing internal components instead of replacing an entire mattress. The 100-night guarantee reduces the risk, provided you are comfortable following the 21-night adjustment guidance and the return conditions.
Look elsewhere when your budget is tight, both sleepers already agree on a firmness, or you require a warranty that covers ordinary comfort changes. Also pause if your base or sleeper weight falls outside the stated warranty conditions, because the headline 10-year period may not protect your purchase in that situation.

Sleeping Duck Mach II review: final assessment
Sleeping Duck Mach II earns its premium position through a specific, useful idea: firmness is changeable after delivery. The Queen price of AU$1,649 and the 100-night guarantee make that flexibility accessible, while Half-half gives couples a solution that fixed-feel mattresses cannot always provide.
Its limitations are equally concrete. You must wait 21 nights between recommended adjustments, buy directly to retain the stated warranty, use an appropriate base, stay within the 140 kg-per-sleeper condition and accept that qualifying repairs may replace one component rather than the entire mattress. For shoppers who need customisation, those conditions are manageable; for shoppers who simply want an inexpensive fixed mattress, they are reasons to choose a simpler option.

Frequently Asked Questions
How are replacement Precision Foam Pads delivered?
Sleeping Duck says new Precision Pads are sent by Australia Post and include swap instructions. Keep the removed pad until you are satisfied with the new configuration, especially while the 100-night guarantee is still running.
Can one household return more than one mattress under the guarantee?
The official FAQ limits guarantee returns to two mattresses per household. If several people at one address are considering separate purchases, confirm how that household limit will be applied before ordering.
Are the CHOICE measurements definitely for the current Mach II?
No. CHOICE marks the publicly visible specification as a discontinued model, so its 253-springs-per-square-metre, 10-layer, 44 kg and 32 cm figures should not be treated as current Mach II specifications.
Does a warranty replacement give me a new 10-year term?
No. Sleeping Duck’s warranty states that the warranty period does not restart after a replacement component is provided. The remedy may also be limited to the affected component rather than the complete mattress.
