Skullcandy Crusher Evo Review: Is Its Bass Worth Buying in 2026?

The Skullcandy Crusher Evo is worth considering only if its defining feature—the adjustable, physically felt bass—is what you want. Its bass slider can add anything from a modest thump to a strong rumble, but the headphones have no active noise cancellation, lack multipoint Bluetooth, and were reported discontinued in November 2024. The Skullcandy Crusher Evo Wireless Headphones make the most sense when you find reliable remaining stock at a price that reflects those trade-offs; they are a poor fit if you mainly need noise reduction, easy device switching, or a dependable everyday headset.

What are the Skullcandy Crusher Evo headphones?

The Crusher Evo is a Bluetooth 5.0, over-ear wireless headphone announced by Skullcandy on September 3, 2020. Gadgets 360 lists November 19, 2020, as its release date. It has 40 mm drivers, folding ear cups, a 312 g listed weight, USB-C charging, and a 3.5 mm AUX option for wired listening. Its central selling point is not simply strong bass: a physical slider lets you control a haptic effect that makes low frequencies feel like vibration.

Skullcandy introduced the model with two distinguishing features: its Sensory Haptic Bass system and Personal Sound, an audio-personalization feature enabled through the Skullcandy app. In use, those features address different preferences. The slider changes the intensity of the physical bass sensation; the app offers EQ presets and Personal Sound. Neither turns the Crusher Evo into a noise-cancelling headphone or changes its basic wireless limitations.

The key question is whether you want that tactile bass effect enough to accept a product from an older, discontinued line. If so, evaluate the specific seller and unit as carefully as the headphone itself.

How does the Crusher Evo bass slider work?

A physical slider controls the amount of haptic bass, so you can dial the effect down or up without committing to one fixed level. RTINGS describes a range from a moderate thump to an intensely powerful rumble. The sound remains bass-forward even when the haptic effect is reduced, so turning the slider down does not make the headphone neutral.

When the haptic effect is useful

The vibration adds a tactile dimension to low-frequency content. It can make bass-heavy music and other material feel more forceful, and the control is immediate: adjust the slider to suit a particular track or your tolerance for vibration. This is the feature to prioritize if you already know that ordinary boosted bass is not enough and you want the sensation itself.

When it may be too much

The same effect can be distracting if you prefer restrained low end, listen for long stretches, or want a consistent sound across different kinds of material. The slider gives you control over intensity, but it does not remove the Crusher Evo’s bass-forward tuning. If you want a conventional balanced presentation, the haptic feature may be less important than the headphone’s underlying sound profile.

For adjustments beyond the physical control, the Skullcandy app supplies EQ presets and Personal Sound. The available information establishes those functions but does not specify preset names, the personalization procedure, or the app’s current device and operating-system requirements. Check the app listing for your phone before buying if app-based setup is essential to your decision.

How good is its sound apart from the rumble?

Reviews describe the Crusher Evo as fun-sounding, with a bass-forward signature and a balanced mid-range. That combination means vocals and other midrange content are not simply overwhelmed by bass, but the overall presentation still leans toward low-end impact rather than neutrality. RTINGS also finds a poor passive soundstage, a limitation for listeners who want a spacious, speaker-like sense of placement.

SoundGuys notes that the headphones do not support aptX or LDAC. Bluetooth codec support is documented as SBC and AAC, alongside wired 3.5 mm operation. If codec choice is part of your buying decision, do not assume that the haptic system or app features imply support for higher-bitrate wireless formats.

Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones - True Black | Multi-Sensory Crusher Bass, Over-Ear Fit, Bluetooth, 60 Hours Battery, Working Out, Gym, Travel, Studying, Music, Gaming

  • ADJUSTABLE 4-MIC ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING. Designed with adjustable 4-mic active noise canceling that allows you to hush the chaos around you
  • UP TO 60 HOURS BATTERY + RAPID CHARGE. Get hours of uninterrupted listening with up to 60 hours of battery life with ANC off. With Rapid Charge, just 10 minutes of charging gives you 4 hours of listening
  • PERSONALIZED SOUND IN THE SKULLCANDY APP. Customize your sound with Personal Sound by Mimi, adjustable hearing modes: Active Noise Canceling, Stay-Aware, and fine-tune your EQ
  • MULTIPOINT PAIRING. Connect to two devices at once with seamless transitions

There is no single best slider setting for every listener or track. A practical approach is to start with the haptic control low, listen to familiar material, and raise it until the physical effect becomes enjoyable without masking the sound you care about. For a more conventional presentation, reduce the haptics and try an app EQ preset rather than expecting the headphones to become entirely neutral.

How long does the Crusher Evo battery last?

Skullcandy claims up to 40 hours of battery life and says a 10-minute charge provides about four hours of playback. Independent results differ substantially: SoundGuys measured 66 hours and 50 minutes in its test at 75 dB with the bass slider at minimum, while RTINGS measured more than 34 hours of continuous use. Those are test-specific results, not a guarantee of how long every owner will get.

Figure Who reports it Qualification
Up to 40 hours Skullcandy Manufacturer’s stated maximum; real-world endurance varies.
About 4 hours from a 10-minute charge Skullcandy Manufacturer’s quick-charge claim.
66 hours 50 minutes SoundGuys, 2024 review Measured at 75 dB with bass at minimum; not a universal result.
More than 34 hours RTINGS, review updated 2024 Continuous-test result; test conditions differ from SoundGuys’.

The long SoundGuys result should not be read as the expected runtime with the bass slider turned up: that measurement was taken with bass at minimum. The independent measurements also use different conditions, so they are not a direct head-to-head comparison. For a buyer, the useful conclusion is that the model has substantial stated endurance, but playback volume, haptic-bass use, battery age, and other conditions matter.

Because the headphones were reported discontinued in 2024, battery condition is especially important when buying old or used stock. A new-in-box unit can still have an aged battery after sitting in storage. Ask about the unit’s condition, check the return terms, and test charging and playback promptly while a return option remains available.

Does the Crusher Evo have noise cancellation?

No. The Crusher Evo has no active noise cancellation (ANC). RTINGS reports poor isolation against engine noise and chatter, so do not choose it as a solution for flights, commutes, or noisy offices if reducing outside sound is a priority.

Its over-ear design does not change that distinction: passive isolation is not the same as electronic noise cancellation, and the available review assessment indicates that passive isolation is poor for the tested types of environmental noise. If quiet listening in a loud setting matters more than tactile bass, look at a model with ANC instead. RTINGS positions the Sony ULT WEAR as a better all-rounder with much stronger ANC and comfort, while describing the Crusher Evo as the stronger choice for maximum haptic bass.

Are the Crusher Evo comfortable for long listening sessions?

The headphones weigh 312 g and fold at the ear cups, but those practical features do not make them particularly compact or comfortable for everyone. SoundGuys calls them bulky and notes possible discomfort, a rubberized headband that can pull hair, and ear cups that may feel warm during long sessions. Treat comfort as a personal fit question rather than assuming the over-ear format will suit you.

If possible, try them on before committing, especially if you are sensitive to headband feel, heat, or weight. For an online purchase, a clear return policy is valuable because the listed weight alone cannot tell you how the fit will feel over an hour or more. Folding ear cups aid storage, but the review description of the headphone as bulky is a reminder that folding does not guarantee a small travel footprint.

What wireless and wired connections does it support?

The Crusher Evo supports Bluetooth 5.0, SBC and AAC codecs, and wired listening through a 3.5 mm AUX connection. Multipoint Bluetooth is absent, so it does not provide the documented ability to stay connected to two devices and switch between them automatically.

The wired option can be useful when you prefer a cable or want to connect to equipment with a headphone jack, but the available specifications do not establish every detail of wired operation, such as whether the headphone battery is required in every mode. If that distinction matters for a particular device or use case, verify it with the seller or manufacturer before purchase. Do not assume that wired capability adds a microphone or other functions unless the listing explicitly confirms them.

Is the Crusher Evo discontinued, and can you still buy it?

SoundGuys’ November 8, 2024 update says the Crusher Evo was discontinued and recommends newer headphones for most buyers. Discontinued does not mean that every listing has vanished: remaining stock may still be offered, but availability, seller reliability, and warranty terms can vary. Gadgets 360 recorded an Amazon price of ₹15,499 on September 11, 2026; that is a dated listing, not a current price guarantee or proof of available stock.

SoundGuys lists a $199.99 MSRP in its review. That is a stated MSRP, not a current street price. Since the model is discontinued, compare the actual price and seller terms available to you rather than treating either the MSRP or the dated India listing as a reliable measure of today’s value.

What to check before buying remaining stock

  • Seller and condition: Confirm whether the unit is new, open-box, refurbished, or used, and whether the seller has a clear returns process.
  • Battery: Ask how long the item has been stored if that information is available, and test charging and playback soon after delivery.
  • Warranty: Check which warranty applies to this specific seller and unit. Do not assume that older inventory receives the same coverage as a current model.
  • Price: Judge the offer against what you value: the haptic-bass effect, not a promise of ANC, multipoint, or a current-generation feature set.
  • Fit: Use a return window to assess comfort, particularly if headband feel or warm ear cups tend to bother you.

If a listing does not explain the product’s condition, returns, and warranty clearly, the low price may not compensate for the risk of an old battery or a difficult return.

Should you buy the Crusher Evo or choose another model?

The choice depends on whether the haptic effect is your main requirement or one feature among several. RTINGS says the Sony ULT WEAR is a better all-rounder with much stronger ANC and comfort, while the Crusher Evo wins for maximum haptic bass. Skullcandy’s Crusher ANC 2 is described as the newer ANC option in the same family. The available comparisons do not establish matched prices, battery figures, or a complete specification-by-specification ranking for these alternatives.

Your priority What the evidence suggests Decision
Maximum tactile bass RTINGS identifies the Crusher Evo as the stronger choice for maximum haptic bass. Consider the Evo if the slider’s physical effect is the reason you are shopping.
ANC and broader everyday use RTINGS describes Sony ULT WEAR as having much stronger ANC and comfort. Look beyond the Evo if blocking noise and general comfort matter more than its bass effect.
ANC within Skullcandy’s Crusher family Crusher ANC 2 is identified as the newer ANC option in the family. Compare its current listing and warranty with the Evo before deciding.
Low-risk purchase and current support The Evo was reported discontinued in November 2024; remaining stock can vary. Favor an available current model if a clear warranty and easy replacement matter most.

These are preference-based distinctions, not a claim that one model is universally best. The available data establishes the direction of the comparison for haptic bass, ANC, and comfort, but not current prices or every alternative’s features. Check live specifications and local warranty terms before choosing between models.

Who should buy the Skullcandy Crusher Evo?

The Crusher Evo fits a specific listener better than it fits a broad audience. Its appeal is strongest when you want to feel the bass, expect to use the slider, and can buy a unit with credible condition, return, and warranty information.

It may suit you if

  • You want adjustable physical bass rather than only a conventional EQ boost.
  • You value the option to reduce or increase the haptic effect with a physical control.
  • You are comfortable with Bluetooth 5.0, SBC/AAC, and the lack of multipoint.
  • You can find reliable remaining stock at a price that makes sense for a discontinued product.

It is a poor fit if

  • You need ANC or strong isolation from engines and chatter.
  • You regularly switch between two Bluetooth devices and expect multipoint.
  • You prefer neutral tuning or a spacious passive soundstage.
  • You are sensitive to a bulky fit, a rubberized headband, or ear cups that may become warm over long sessions.
  • You need the certainty of a current model’s availability and clearly established support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Crusher Evo while it is charging?

The available specifications and reviews do not establish whether playback is possible during charging. If listening while plugged in is essential, confirm that behavior with the seller or manufacturer before buying.

Can I use the Crusher Evo on a plane?

It can be used for listening, but it does not have ANC and has poor isolation against engine noise according to RTINGS. A wired connection may be useful with equipment that has a headphone jack, but check that your specific onboard system supports the connection you plan to use.

Does the Crusher Evo support high-resolution Bluetooth audio?

The documented Bluetooth codecs are SBC and AAC, and SoundGuys notes that aptX and LDAC are not supported. The 3.5 mm wired option is a separate connection and should not be confused with a high-resolution wireless codec.

Is the Crusher Evo good for phone calls?

RTINGS describes its microphone as understandable but muffled and weak in noisy environments. It may be adequate for a quick quiet-room call, but the review evidence does not support choosing it for consistently clear calls in busy places.
