It is worth considering if you want flexible storage and do not want to connect a water line. What is the Haier HRF575XHS?
The HRF575XHS is Haier Australia’s 500 Series S+ three-door side-by-side refrigerator freezer. Its published 574L total volume is divided into a 385L refrigerator section, an 86L freezer section and a 103L variable-temperature SwitchZone compartment. Those figures describe a useful distinction: the 103L is not extra capacity on top of the 574L, but a section whose role can change.

How does the SwitchZone compartment work?
Haier says the SwitchZone can be set from −18°C to +5°C. At the colder end it can be used as freezer storage; at warmer settings it can serve as additional refrigerator space. The value is practical flexibility, not a claim that the compartment automatically changes its role based on what you put inside.
This can suit households whose storage needs change over time: for example, a period when extra frozen-food capacity matters can be followed by a setting that favours chilled groceries. Think through the arrangement you expect to use most often, because changing the compartment’s role changes how much dedicated refrigerator or freezer capacity you have. The published figures do not specify how long a temperature change takes, how quickly it responds to a full load, or how evenly temperatures are maintained.

Haier also lists Multi-Zone Air airflow and separate temperature control for the refrigerator and freezer. Those are design and control features; without public numerical independent test results, they should not be treated as a guarantee of temperature uniformity or food lasting longer.
Does the HRF575XHS need plumbing, and how does its ice maker work?
No mains-water connection is required. The water dispenser draws from an internal refillable tank, which must be filled by hand. That makes the dispenser an option for kitchens without a nearby water connection, but it also means chilled water depends on keeping the tank filled.
The ice system is a manual twist ice maker with a storage bin, not an automatic plumbed ice dispenser. If you want ice without filling or operating a tray-style mechanism, confirm that this arrangement suits your household before choosing the model. Will the Haier HRF575XHS fit in my kitchen?
The appliance itself measures 1775 mm high × 905 mm wide × 707 mm deep. CHOICE lists recommended installation dimensions of approximately 183 cm high × 101 cm wide × 76 cm deep, giving a more realistic planning envelope than the cabinet measurements alone. Do not treat the product dimensions as the complete cavity dimensions you need.

The difference between the cabinet and recommended installation dimensions matters for ventilation, door movement and fitting the appliance into place. Measure the intended position rather than relying on a nominal kitchen-appliance opening, and check the installation instructions for the clearances and door requirements that apply to your layout.
Check the delivery route as well as the cavity
A refrigerator can fit its final position and still be difficult to bring into the home. Before ordering, measure the narrowest points on the route, including entry doors, hallways, internal turns and any stair or lift access. Also check whether doors or handles must be removed for delivery and whether the delivery provider will perform that work. The product weight is listed as 103 kg by Appliances Online; ask the retailer about handling and delivery arrangements rather than assuming the appliance can be moved like a small domestic fridge.
How much usable storage does it offer?
The headline 574L figure is useful for comparing total stated capacity, but the split is more useful for deciding whether the layout suits your shopping and cooking habits. The refrigerator section is 385L, fixed freezer capacity is 86L, and another 103L can be assigned to either role within the stated temperature range.

There is no single best configuration for every household. For everyday organisation, Haier lists three adjustable glass shelves, three door shelves and a Humidity Zone drawer in the refrigerator, along with LED lighting. These provide options for arranging groceries, but the published material does not establish a specific usable shelf area or demonstrate that food lasts longer than it would in another refrigerator.
How much electricity does it use, and what will it cost?
Haier lists a four-star energy rating and claimed annual energy consumption of 394 kWh. That label figure is the useful published comparison point; it is not a promise that every home will use exactly that amount. Ambient temperature, loading, door-opening frequency and chosen settings can all affect actual consumption.
To make a simple annual electricity-cost estimate, multiply 394 kWh by the energy rate on your bill, expressed in dollars per kWh. For example, at a hypothetical rate of $0.30 per kWh, the label-based calculation is 394 × $0.30 = $118.20 per year. This is an illustration using the stated rate, not a quoted Australian tariff or a prediction of a particular household’s bill. Use your own rate, and remember that real consumption can differ from the label figure.
When comparing refrigerators, look at both the star rating and the annual kWh figure rather than relying on stars alone. A star rating helps with like-for-like comparisons under the applicable rating system, while the kWh figure can be used with your electricity rate to estimate a running-cost scenario.
What cooling features and independent test results are published?
Haier lists Multi-Zone Air airflow, separate refrigerator and freezer temperature control, a frost-free freezer, an inverter-controlled compressor, Super Cooling, Super Freeze and Holiday mode. These describe the available systems and settings. They do not, by themselves, establish how quietly the appliance runs or how stable its temperatures are in a particular kitchen.

CHOICE lists the HRF575XHS as tested in 2023 and identifies test categories including temperature stability, temperature evenness, temperature range, response to outside temperature, heat-load processing, noise and running cost. The numerical results are marked members-only on the public page extract. Consequently, specific scores or claims that the model outperforms another refrigerator cannot be supported by those public results.
