How do you link Apple Music to Google Home?
Use the Google Home app to authorize Apple Music for the Google account connected to your Nest speaker or display. The exact Settings label can appear as Settings or Home settings; from there, the music-service path is the same.

- Check your accounts. Open Google Home on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device and confirm that the displayed Google account is the one linked to the Nest device.
- Open music services. In Google Home, tap Settings or Home settings, then tap Music.
- Choose Apple Music. Under More music services, find Apple Music and tap its link control.
- Authorize your Apple Account. Tap Link Account, sign in with the Apple Account used for Apple Music, and complete the onscreen authorization.
- Choose whether it is the default. In Your music services, select Apple Music if you want Google Assistant to use it when you make a music request without naming a service.
- Test playback. Say, “Hey Google, play [song, artist, album, or playlist].” If you did not make Apple Music the default, specify the service: “Hey Google, play [title] on Apple Music.”

What can you ask Google Assistant to play or control?
You can make requests by song, album, artist, genre, mood, activity, curated playlist, or personal playlist. Naming the item and, when useful, its artist or playlist type helps Google Assistant distinguish the result you mean.

These are voice requests, not a separate setup process. If a phrase returns the wrong content, add an artist, album, playlist, or the words “on Apple Music” rather than repeating the same broad request.

How do you make Apple Music the default service?
In Google Home, open Settings or Home settings, tap Music, and select Apple Music under Your music services. Once selected, you can usually leave the service name out of a request: “Hey Google, play [song or artist].”
If another music provider remains selected as the default, Google Assistant may use that provider for an unqualified request. Add “on Apple Music” to the request when you want to specify the service, or change the selection under Your music services. Default selection changes how Google interprets an ordinary music request; it does not replace the account-linking step.
Why is Google Home not playing Apple Music?
Start by checking the connection and the exact account in use. Apple’s documented recovery is to link Apple Music again; Google also advises confirming the provider is linked and making requests more specific.

Google’s single-account guidance matters when more than one Google account is available on a phone or in a household. Check the account selected in Google Home rather than assuming the device is using whichever account is currently open in another app.
Which Google Nest speakers and displays are compatible?
Apple Music works on compatible Google Nest speakers and displays after account linking; the integration is not limited to one specific Nest model. Google announced support in 2020 for Google Assistant-enabled devices, including Nest Audio, Nest Hub Max, Nest Mini, and other compatible speakers and displays. That announcement establishes examples, not a current exhaustive compatibility list, so check whether the specific device is Assistant-enabled and available for setup in Google Home.
You do not need to choose a speaker based on a different Apple Music connection method: the documented setup is account linking through Google Home. Does Apple Music on Google Nest work in every country?
No. Apple explicitly states that Apple Music on a Google Nest speaker or display is not available in all countries and regions. Can I ask Google Assistant to play a personal Apple Music playlist?
Yes. Google’s supported voice-request examples include personal playlists; using the playlist name and the word “playlist” can help identify it. If the result is ambiguous, add “on Apple Music.”
