To see phonetic lyrics in Apple Music, play a song on an iPhone or iPad, open its lyrics, tap Translation and Pronunciation, then choose Show Pronunciation. The feature displays a phonetic rendering of the lyrics; it is separate from a translation and is available only for select songs and languages.
How do I see pronunciation of lyrics in Apple Music?
Use the lyrics controls on the Now Playing screen. Apple’s documented consumer instructions cover iPhone and iPad.

- Open the Apple Music app and play a song from the Apple Music catalog.
- Tap the playing song at the bottom of the screen to open Now Playing.
- Tap Lyrics.
- Tap Translation and Pronunciation.
- Choose Show Pronunciation.
The lyrics view will show phonetic text to help with pronunciation. If you want to return to the original writing, use Hide Original. When Apple offers a translation for the song, the same menu may also include Show Translation.
What does “Show Pronunciation” display?
It displays lyrics phonetically rather than translating their meaning. Pronunciation and translation are distinct options, and seeing one does not mean the other is available.

Apple says its lyric translations and pronunciations use machine learning with fine-tuning from language experts, and are offered for select songs. Apple does not publish a coverage percentage or a song count, so availability cannot be assumed for every track or language.
Why is “Show Pronunciation” missing or unavailable?
The option depends on Apple having pronunciation data for that song and language. Apple notes that translations and pronunciations may not be available in all languages or regions.

- The Lyrics button is missing: Check that the track is from the Apple Music catalog and that lyrics are available. Lyrics can also be unavailable when the device is offline or when the song has not been downloaded for offline use.
- Translation and Pronunciation is missing or disabled: Apple may not have pronunciation information for that song or language.
- The menu appears, but Show Pronunciation is unavailable: Availability varies by song and language; Apple describes pronunciation as a feature for select songs, not a guaranteed catalog-wide option.
For a quick check, confirm the song is in the catalog, connect to the internet or download the track, and try another song. If pronunciation is still unavailable, the song, language, or region may not have supported data.
How can I make phonetic lyrics easier to read?
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Apps > Music > Larger Text. Choose Pronunciation to enlarge phonetic text, or Lyrics to enlarge the original script.

Does this workflow work on Mac or Apple TV?
Apple’s cited consumer instructions document the pronunciation workflow for iPhone and iPad. They do not establish that the same controls or steps are available on Mac, Apple TV, or other Apple Music clients.

Does “Show Pronunciation” play the lyrics aloud?
No spoken playback control is described in Apple’s instructions. The option changes the lyrics display to phonetic text.

Can I see the original script and phonetic text at the same time?
Apple’s instructions describe switching the lyrics display with Hide Original; they do not specify a side-by-side view.
Does Apple say how many songs have pronunciation guides?
No. Apple describes pronunciation as available for select songs but does not publish a song count or coverage percentage.
