Verdict: The Scanpan HaptIQ 26cm Frypan is a premium, Danish-made non-stick pan with a five-layer stainless-steel-and-aluminium body and SCANPAN’s Stratanium+ coating. It is induction compatible, oven-rated conservatively to 250°C, and built for metal utensils, but it is also substantial at roughly 1.35–1.5kg and expensive. It makes the most sense if you want a durable-feeling clad pan for eggs, fish, pancakes, vegetables, browning and searing, and you are willing to hand-wash it. It is harder to justify if you want a very light pan, a large flat searing area or a low-cost replacement.
What is the Scanpan HaptIQ 26cm Frypan?
HaptIQ is SCANPAN’s premium non-stick frying-pan line. The 26cm model combines a five-layer stainless-steel and aluminium construction with the company’s Stratanium+ non-stick surface. SCANPAN UK describes the design as Danish and made in Denmark, while the Singapore manufacturer page calls the coating commercial-grade and suitable for metal utensils.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe curved sides are intended to make turning, stirring and serving easier. That shape is useful for foods that need frequent movement, although it also means the flat cooking zone is smaller than the 26cm rim measurement. DEKSELS lists an 18cm bottom diameter and a 4.5cm height, so the nominal size should not be read as 26cm of flat searing space.
Manufacturer descriptions cover eggs, pancakes, fish, vegetables and meat, along with searing and browning. Those are product claims rather than results from an independent controlled test; the available evidence does not establish how the pan compares with competing coatings after a standardized number of heating cycles.

Is the HaptIQ 26cm a good size for everyday cooking?
It is a versatile middle-size pan, but its usable flat base is closer to the published 18cm bottom diameter than to the 26cm rim. That distinction matters when you are trying to brown several pieces of food without crowding.
What the 26cm measurement means
- Nominal rim size: 26cm.
- Published bottom diameter: 18cm, according to DEKSELS.
- Published height: 4.5cm, according to DEKSELS.
- Shape: gently curved sides designed for turning, stirring and serving.
The narrower base concentrates heat and gives the pan a manageable footprint on most domestic burners. It also limits the area available for a broad steak, multiple fillets or a large batch of vegetables. If your cooking routinely involves large quantities, judge the pan by its flat base rather than the rim label and consider whether a larger model would suit your hob and storage space.

Does Stratanium+ make the pan genuinely non-stick?
Stratanium+ is a multilayer non-stick surface that SCANPAN markets for everyday release and metal-utensil compatibility. The available manufacturer material supports the coating name, intended uses and utensil policy, but it does not provide an independent laboratory comparison or a controlled longevity test.
In practical terms, the coating should be treated as a performance surface rather than an excuse to overheat the pan. SCANPAN warns against overheating and aerosol cooking sprays. Use moderate heat, allow the pan to warm gradually, and avoid leaving it empty over a powerful burner. Metal utensils are permitted by the manufacturer, but sharp edges, forceful scraping and careless contact with the rim can still create avoidable wear.
What the available evidence does and does not show
- The Singapore manufacturer page says the commercial-grade STRATANIUM+ surface is suitable for metal utensils.
- SCANPAN’s product descriptions position the pan for eggs, pancakes, fish, vegetables, meat, searing and browning.
- No independent controlled cooking test is included in the available material, so claims about superiority over every other premium coating cannot be verified.
- There is no evidence here establishing a guaranteed service life for the coating under a particular cooking schedule.
Can you use the HaptIQ 26cm on induction?
Yes. Official compatibility descriptions list induction as well as gas, ceramic, radiant-ring, solid-plate and halogen cooktops. The five-layer metal construction is intended to distribute heat across those common hob types.

On induction, match the pan to a heating zone that is close to the 18cm published bottom diameter. A much larger ring can heat the centre faster than the outer area, while a very small ring may leave the edges cooler. Follow your hob’s normal cookware-detection guidance and avoid sliding the pan aggressively across a glass surface.
How hot can the pan go in the oven?
Use 250°C as the conservative ceiling unless the manual supplied in your market explicitly states otherwise. SCANPAN UK lists oven safety up to 250°C, while BuyWisely and another retailer publish 260°C. Because those figures conflict by region and seller, the lower manufacturer figure is the safer default.
Oven safety is not the same as broiler or grill suitability. The available specifications do not establish a separate broiler limit, so do not assume that a brief exposure directly under a top element is covered by the 250°C statement. Remove the pan using proper heat protection and let it cool before washing.
Is the HaptIQ dishwasher safe?
Published advice is inconsistent. Harrods and BuyWisely describe the pan as dishwasher safe, but SCANPAN UK recommends against dishwasher use and advises washing it with warm soapy water after cooling. For the best chance of preserving the coating and mirror finish, hand-wash the pan.
A safer cleaning routine
- Let the pan cool before exposing it to water; a sudden temperature change can stress cookware and makes handling less safe.
- Wash with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge or cloth.
- Loosen stuck food by soaking rather than attacking it with abrasive pads or hard-edged tools.
- Rinse and dry promptly to keep the exterior looking its best.
- Store it so that other pans cannot grind against the cooking surface.
Hand washing takes more effort than loading a dishwasher, but it follows the manufacturer guidance that is most conservative about long-term finish and coating care.

How heavy is the 26cm HaptIQ?
Published weights range from 1.35kg to 1.5kg. SCANPAN’s official two-piece-set specification gives the 26cm pan as 1.35kg, while DEKSELS lists 1.5kg. That difference can reflect a regional specification, production variation or different weighing conventions; either way, this is a substantial pan.
The weight can help the pan feel stable on a hob and is consistent with a multi-layer clad body. It can also make one-handed tossing tiring, particularly when the pan contains food. Cooks with limited wrist strength, or anyone who regularly moves a pan from hob to oven, should handle a similar-size pan in a shop if possible and check that the handle and balance feel comfortable.
What does the HaptIQ cost, and is it good value?
SCANPAN Australia’s collection page showed an A$268.95 sale price against an A$449 recommended retail price when accessed in 2026. That is an Australian reference, not a universal current price. Currency, promotions, local distribution and stock can change the amount substantially, so check the price and seller in your region immediately before buying.
At that level, the value proposition depends on more than release performance. You are paying for the five-layer construction, induction compatibility, a premium coating, Danish manufacture and the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty wording does not promise that the non-stick surface will remain perfect indefinitely, and normal wear, misuse or overheating should not be confused with a manufacturing defect.

- Flat cooking area: compare the actual base diameter, not only the rim size.
- Weight: decide whether the stability of a heavier body outweighs easier lifting.
- Induction response: confirm that the base is designed for your particular hob.
- Oven limit: use the lowest clearly documented temperature when specifications conflict.
- Coating policy: check whether metal utensils are allowed and what care the maker requires.
- Cleaning: factor in the time and inconvenience of hand washing.
- Warranty: read whether coverage applies to manufacturing defects, the coating, or both.
- Total price: include delivery, local taxes and the cost of replacing a pan if the size does not suit your cooking.
What is the difference between HaptIQ and cheaper SCANPAN ranges?
The supplied specifications establish HaptIQ’s five-layer stainless-steel-and-aluminium body, Stratanium+ surface, broad cooktop compatibility and premium positioning. They do not provide a complete, model-by-model specification for every less expensive range, so it would be misleading to assign exact differences in layer count, coating chemistry, thickness or warranty without the individual manuals.

When comparing a cheaper SCANPAN pan, look for those details rather than relying on the family name. A lower-priced model may suit you perfectly if it has the required base size, induction support and oven limit. HaptIQ is the more clearly specified choice in this material for buyers who specifically want the five-layer construction and Stratanium+ coating, but the evidence does not prove that it will outlast every cheaper model in every kitchen.
What are the main advantages and drawbacks?
Advantages
- Five-layer stainless-steel-and-aluminium construction.
- Stratanium+ non-stick surface marketed for metal utensils.
- Works on induction and other common cooktops.
- Suitable for stovetop-to-oven cooking within the documented temperature limit.
- Curved sides help with turning, stirring and serving.
- Made in Denmark and covered by a stated lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
Drawbacks
- At roughly 1.35–1.5kg, it is heavy for cooks who toss food one-handed.
- The 18cm published base is considerably smaller than the 26cm rim.
- Hand washing is the safer care choice despite some retailers calling it dishwasher safe.
- Oven specifications conflict between 250°C and 260°C; 250°C is the prudent limit without a local manual.
- The Australian reference price is high, and prices vary by market and date.
- Independent durability or cooking-performance testing is not established by the available material.
Who should buy the Scanpan HaptIQ 26cm?
Buy it if you want a premium non-stick pan that can move between induction or another common hob and the oven, appreciate a stable multi-layer body, and are prepared to hand-wash it. It is particularly logical for cooks who value easy release for delicate foods but still want to brown meat and vegetables and use metal tools when necessary.
Look elsewhere if your priority is the lightest possible pan, the largest uninterrupted searing area or the lowest replacement cost. The 26cm label hides an 18cm published base, and the weight is significant enough to affect daily comfort.
How should you use the HaptIQ to maximize its service life?
- Choose a burner or induction zone close to the base diameter rather than automatically selecting the largest ring.
- Preheat gradually at low or medium heat; avoid leaving the empty pan over a high setting.
- Add food once the pan is ready, using only the amount of oil your recipe needs.
- Use metal utensils only as intended, avoiding stabbing, gouging or scraping with sharp corners.
- Keep aerosol cooking sprays away from the surface, following SCANPAN’s warning.
- For oven finishing, stay at or below 250°C unless your local SCANPAN manual gives a different, explicit limit.
- Cool the pan, then wash it by hand with warm soapy water and a soft implement.
- Dry it before storage and protect the cooking surface from contact with other cookware.
Final verdict: is the Scanpan HaptIQ 26cm worth it?
The HaptIQ 26cm is worth considering as a premium everyday pan, not as a universal bargain. Its strongest case is the combination of Danish manufacture, five-layer construction, induction compatibility, Stratanium+ coating and oven capability. Its weaker points are the high and region-dependent price, the relatively small 18cm base, contradictory dishwasher and oven claims, and a weight that some users will find tiring.
Buy with confidence only after checking the current local specification, price, seller and warranty terms. If those match your needs and you will hand-wash the pan, HaptIQ offers a well-specified premium option. If not, a lighter or larger pan may deliver better value even if its headline rim size appears similar.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the lifetime warranty cover a worn non-stick coating?
SCANPAN UK’s quoted warranty wording covers manufacturing defects. The available specification does not say that ordinary coating wear, scratches, overheating or misuse receives lifetime coverage, so ask the local seller for the exact exclusions before purchase.
Why does one listing say 1.35kg and another say 1.5kg?
The 1.35kg figure comes from SCANPAN’s official two-piece-set specification, while DEKSELS lists 1.5kg. Treat the difference as a regional or specification variation and plan for a pan in the heavier range.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Is the 26cm measurement the area that gets hot?
No. It is the nominal rim size. DEKSELS publishes an 18cm bottom diameter, which is a better guide to the flat area contacting the hob and the space available for searing.
How many independent reviews support the pan’s performance?
BuyWisely displayed 98 reviews when accessed in 2026, but that is a retailer aggregation count, not an independent laboratory or controlled cooking statistic. It should not be treated as a measured durability or heat-performance result.
