Yes, provided condition and support matter more to you than having the latest model. The PMS400 has the core features expected of a serious domestic rotary mower: a heavy-duty steel chassis, a 135 cm³ petrol engine, a 460 mm cutting width, a large catcher and genuine mulching capability.
Its main weakness is not the basic design but age. Does the PMS400 mulch and catch grass?
Yes. Sanli describes the Power Mulch as a dual-function mower, and the PMS400 manual lists both a rear catcher and a mulching plug. You can therefore configure it for conventional cut-and-catch mowing or remove the catcher and fit the plug for mulching.
Cut-and-catch operation
With the supplied rear catcher attached, clippings are directed into the 60 L bag. Keep the discharge path and catcher openings clear; a full or blocked catcher reduces airflow and can leave clumps behind.
Mulching operation
The mulching plug closes the rear discharge path so the blade can recut clippings and return them to the turf. If the lawn has become tall, take a higher first pass or use the catcher rather than forcing a large volume of material through the mulching setup.
Changing configurations safely

What size lawn can the PMS400 handle?

Aftermarket listings can incorrectly combine several Sanli models. Confirm the seller’s fitment policy, return terms and whether the part is intended for the PMS400 specifically before paying.
What warranty did the PMS400 have?
The PMS400 manual states: “Sanli provides an express warranty for this product for 2 years from the original purchase date, except for commercial use (90 days).” The coverage is for the original purchaser who can provide proof of purchase. Walk away when the seller cannot demonstrate a cold start, the blade adaptor is damaged, the catcher or mulching plug is missing, the deck is badly corroded, or no credible source exists for basic service parts. A very low price does not compensate for an unavailable blade or an engine problem if the machine cannot be returned.

- Buy confidently: complete machine, clean start, stable running, sound chassis and verified parts source.
- Negotiate carefully: cosmetic wear, worn wheels or overdue service with documented compatible replacements.

The 75 dB figure is the listed specification, not a guarantee of perceived loudness at the operator or property boundary. Actual sound varies with engine condition, blade balance, grass load and surrounding surfaces, so local noise rules and neighbours’ proximity still matter.
