The Samsung HW-LS60D/XN, sold as the Samsung Music Frame, is best understood as a stylish 2.0-channel wireless speaker rather than a complete home-cinema system. Its framed, wall-mountable design, Wi‑Fi streaming and Samsung-TV integration make it an appealing upgrade for owners who dislike conventional soundbars. However, Dolby Atmos remains a two-channel presentation, there is no discrete surround field, and independent listening tests found the sound merely good or disappointing depending on the room and mode. Buy it for discreet design and flexible streaming; choose a conventional multi-speaker Atmos system if immersion, deep bass or dialogue clarity is your priority.
What is the Samsung HW-LS60D/XN?
The HW-LS60D/XN is Samsung’s regional Music Frame model: a square, framed speaker that can sit on furniture or hang on a wall. Samsung specifies a 2.0-channel layout, Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth, optical input, AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Alexa support. It is rated at 120 W and can decode Dolby formats, including Dolby Atmos carried over Dolby Digital Plus.

The important distinction is between format compatibility and speaker geometry. Atmos content can be accepted and processed, but this product still has two output channels. It cannot create the overhead effects or fully separated rear channels produced by a multi-speaker Atmos package. The Music Frame is therefore a wireless stereo speaker with TV features, not a one-box replacement for a full surround system.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How does the Music Frame look and fit in a room?
The square enclosure is the product’s defining advantage. At 353 mm on each side and only 54.2 mm deep without its stand, it resembles wall art more closely than a conventional soundbar. On a cabinet, the stand increases the footprint and raises the total height to 143.4 mm. The stand-equipped unit weighs 4.6 kg, while the wall-mount configuration weighs 4.2 kg.
This format is useful when a long bar beneath the television would conflict with furniture, décor or a wall-mounted screen. It also gives you two placement choices: use the stand on a stable surface or mount the frame on the wall. Leave enough clearance for the optical cable or power lead if you use a wired TV connection, and confirm that the mounting surface can safely carry at least the product’s stated weight.
Placement decisions that affect sound
- On a cabinet: Keep the frame centered relative to the listening position and avoid blocking the front of the enclosure with ornaments or a television base.
- On a wall: Position it where the frame can be heard directly rather than behind curtains, shelves or acoustic panels.
- Near a corner: Boundary reinforcement can increase bass. This may be useful in a large room but can become boomy in a small one.
- With a Samsung TV: Place the frame where the TV’s audio and the speaker can combine coherently when Q‑Symphony is available.
Samsung’s SpaceFit Sound Pro is intended to adapt playback to the room. In What Hi‑Fi’s listening test, however, enabling SpaceFit made bass too boomy in that particular room. Treat calibration as a starting point, then compare it with the uncalibrated sound from your normal seat.
How good does the HW-LS60D/XN sound?
Independent impressions are mixed and point to a product whose appearance is stronger than its acoustics. What Hi‑Fi described the concept as visually appealing but called the sound quality disappointing. The reviewer preferred Music mode to Standard and Adaptive modes, and found that SpaceFit produced excessive bass in the test room. These are listening observations, not laboratory measurements, so another room or placement can produce a different balance.
Tom’s Guide’s related HW‑S60D review, published 1 June 2025, found setup easy and sound better than built-in television speakers, but “merely good, not great.” That review also reported that dialogue could sound muffled. Because the HW‑S60D is a related model rather than the HW‑LS60D/XN itself, use those comments as context rather than a direct measurement of this frame speaker.

What the 2.0 layout means in practice
- Voice and TV programmes: You should hear a clearer, fuller presentation than many thin TV speakers, but dialogue intelligibility is not guaranteed in every mode or room.
- Music: Music mode was the preferred setting in What Hi‑Fi’s test. Stereo tracks benefit from the left-right arrangement, while the frame’s compact enclosure limits the physical scale of the sound.
- Film effects: Dolby decoding can preserve compatible soundtracks, yet effects remain rendered through two channels. You should not expect sounds to arrive distinctly from behind or above you.
- Bass: The independent review did not establish a measured low-frequency limit. Room placement and SpaceFit settings can materially change perceived bass, including making it too prominent.
Does the HW-LS60D support Dolby Atmos?
Yes. Samsung lists Dolby Atmos playback, and the technical documentation specifies Dolby Atmos delivered through Dolby Digital Plus. The speaker also supports Dolby 5.1, Dolby Digital Plus and LPCM 2ch.
Atmos support here means the unit can receive and process an Atmos-compatible stream; it does not turn the frame into a discrete multi-speaker Atmos system. With only two output channels, the result is virtualized or downmixed spatial information from a stereo enclosure. If you want clearly separated height and rear effects, you need additional speakers designed for those channels.
Atmos expectations by television type
| TV setup | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Non-Samsung TV using optical | Basic digital audio connection; the TV’s output options determine which signal reaches the frame. |
| Non-Samsung TV using supported wireless or network playback | Streaming availability depends on the TV, app and connection method. Verify compatibility before purchase. |
| Compatible Samsung TV and soundbar combination | Q‑Symphony can combine compatible Samsung devices, subject to the specific models and firmware. |
| Standalone HW‑LS60D/XN | Two-channel playback, even when the source carries Dolby Atmos metadata. |
What is Q‑Symphony, and which TVs can use it?
Q‑Symphony is Samsung’s feature for combining audio from a compatible Samsung TV with a compatible Samsung sound device. The TV speakers and external device work together instead of the TV muting its own speakers. The exact behavior depends on the TV, the connected audio product and current firmware.
Do not assume that any Samsung television will unlock every feature. Tom’s Guide’s related review noted that flagship wireless Dolby Atmos and enhanced-dialogue functions were restricted to compatible Samsung TVs. Before buying, check the HW‑LS60D/XN specification page and your television’s manual for the exact model-year compatibility, then update both devices before troubleshooting.
Which streaming services and connections are available?
The Music Frame has an unusually broad wireless feature set for a speaker that can also serve a television. Samsung lists Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and optical input. Independent coverage confirms AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Tested and Alexa support.

Choosing a connection
- Use Wi‑Fi casting or direct playback for home-network listening through services such as Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, AirPlay 2 or Chromecast. This lets the service send audio directly to the frame rather than keeping your phone as the audio source.
- Use Bluetooth when you need a quick connection from a phone, tablet or computer without configuring the home network. Bluetooth is convenient, but app-specific network controls and multi-room behavior may differ.
- Use optical for a straightforward TV connection when your television has an optical output. Set the TV’s digital-audio output to a format the frame supports, then select the corresponding source on the speaker.
- Use a compatible Samsung wireless TV path when your television and frame support it. This is the route to investigate if you want Samsung-specific features such as Q‑Symphony.
Because wireless features can vary by regional suffix, app version and firmware, confirm that the exact HW‑LS60D/XN sold in your country lists the service you intend to use. Roon Tested indicates compatibility testing with the Roon platform; it is not the same as a claim that every Roon feature works identically in every network configuration.
How do you set up the Samsung Music Frame?
Setup should be uncomplicated, but the best sequence depends on whether you are using it for TV audio, music or both.
- Decide between the supplied stand position and wall mounting, then place the frame with a clear path to the listening area.
- Connect power and allow the speaker to complete its startup process.
- For optical TV audio, connect the television’s optical output to the frame’s optical input and select optical output in the TV’s sound settings.
- For Wi‑Fi services, connect the frame to the same home network used by your phone or tablet, then open the relevant streaming app and choose the frame as the playback device.
- For Bluetooth, select the frame from the phone or computer’s Bluetooth device list and confirm pairing.
- If you own a compatible Samsung TV, enable the TV’s supported Q‑Symphony or wireless-audio option after both devices are updated.
- Play speech, music and a film scene from your usual seat. Compare Music, Standard and Adaptive modes, and test SpaceFit both on and off rather than assuming calibration is automatically better.
Menu names can change with television model, region and firmware. If a setting mentioned in a manual is missing, check the exact model number and update both devices before treating it as a hardware fault.
How does it compare with the alternatives?
The right comparison is not simply “which speaker is louder?” The Music Frame trades cinema performance for visual discretion and network flexibility.

| Option | Strength | Compromise | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TV’s built-in speakers | No extra hardware or setup | Usually less fullness and limited placement flexibility | Casual viewing and minimal equipment |
| HW‑LS60D/XN Music Frame | Framed design, broad streaming support and Samsung integration | 2.0 output; Atmos is not discrete surround; sound reviews are mixed | Samsung TV owners who prioritize décor and simple wireless listening |
| Conventional compact soundbar | Usually wider front presentation and TV-focused placement | More visible beneath the screen; features vary by model | Viewers wanting a conventional TV upgrade |
| Multi-speaker Atmos system | Separate channels, stronger immersion and upgrade paths | More equipment, cables, space and setup | Film and game enthusiasts seeking genuine surround effects |
The HW‑LS60D/XN does not include a subwoofer or rear-speaker array as part of its 2.0 configuration. If deep bass or enveloping effects are central to your decision, budget for a different class of system rather than expecting a software mode to supply missing physical channels.

Who should buy the HW-LS60D/XN?
It makes sense when
- You own a compatible Samsung TV and want to investigate Q‑Symphony.
- A framed, wall-mountable speaker suits your room better than a long soundbar.
- You use Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth or another listed streaming path.
- You want a simple improvement over TV speakers and accept stereo rather than true surround.
- You are willing to test listening modes and placement instead of assuming SpaceFit will suit every room.
Look elsewhere when
- Discrete rear and height effects are non-negotiable.
- You expect a compact enclosure to deliver cinema-scale bass without a subwoofer.
- Dialogue clarity is your overriding concern and you cannot audition the speaker.
- You use a non-Samsung TV and are buying specifically for Samsung-only wireless or dialogue features.
- Your room requires a very wide soundstage for several seats spread far apart.
What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the suffix: Make sure the listing is the HW‑LS60D/XN regional model, not a similarly named Music Frame or the related HW‑S60D soundbar.
- Check current firmware: Feature availability and compatibility can change with updates.
- Verify your TV: Q‑Symphony and enhanced Samsung features require compatible models, not merely a Samsung logo.
- Measure the location: Allow for 353 mm square wall space or the 353 × 364.8 × 143.4 mm stand footprint.
- Decide how you will connect: Confirm optical output, Wi‑Fi coverage or the streaming protocol you actually use.
- Compare regional pricing: The available data does not establish a current HW‑LS60D/XN price. Retail prices and availability vary by country, so check the exact suffix and seller at the time of purchase.
- Plan your return option: Reviewer impressions of sound vary, and a return window is valuable if bass, dialogue or room integration do not suit you.
How can you troubleshoot common problems?
No sound from the TV
Confirm that the optical cable is fully seated, the TV is set to output through optical, and the frame is on the optical source. If you are using a wireless Samsung feature, verify model compatibility and that both devices run current firmware.
Atmos is shown but does not sound surround-like
That behavior is consistent with the product’s 2.0 design. Check that the source is sending a supported Dolby Digital Plus stream, but do not expect discrete rear or overhead channels from the frame alone.
Music sounds too bass-heavy
Move the frame away from a corner, compare Music with Standard and Adaptive modes, and test SpaceFit disabled. What Hi‑Fi specifically found SpaceFit too boomy in its test room, so calibration should be judged from your seat.
Dialogue is hard to understand
Try the available sound modes and reduce excessive bass that can mask voices. If the issue persists, audition the speaker in your room before keeping it; the related HW‑S60D review also reported muffled dialogue.
A streaming app cannot find the frame
Ensure the phone and frame are on the same Wi‑Fi network, then restart the app and speaker. For Bluetooth, remove an old pairing and pair again. Service support can differ by region and firmware, so check the exact HW‑LS60D/XN documentation.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Samsung HW-LS60D/XN review: final verdict
The HW‑LS60D/XN is a specialized choice, not a universal soundbar recommendation. Its 353-mm framed enclosure, 120-W rating, extensive streaming support and Samsung-TV features solve a real problem for people who want better audio without a prominent bar. The trade-off is equally clear: two-channel output, no included subwoofer or rear array, and sound quality that independent reviewers found inconsistent.
Choose it when visual integration and wireless music matter as much as TV impact, especially with a compatible Samsung television. Choose a conventional surround package when your priorities are convincing Atmos height, physical rear effects, powerful bass or consistently intelligible dialogue.

Can the Samsung Music Frame replace a soundbar?
It can replace a basic TV speaker upgrade if you value its framed appearance and stereo music playback. It does not replace a surround-oriented soundbar system in channel count, bass hardware or discrete effects.
Does the HW-LS60D/XN work with an iPhone?
The listed AirPlay 2 support allows compatible Apple devices to send audio over Wi‑Fi. Bluetooth is another option, while exact behavior depends on the phone, network and current firmware.
Is Q‑Symphony available with every Samsung television?
No. Q‑Symphony requires a compatible Samsung TV and compatible audio device combination. Check the exact television model and firmware rather than relying on the brand name alone.
Why does Dolby Atmos not sound three-dimensional on this speaker?
The frame accepts Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus but has only two output channels. It can process spatial information, yet it cannot produce physically separate height and rear channels without additional speakers.
