How do I fix a room that I cannot see or join?
Make the version check the first step. Ratata Arts says that players on different versions may be unable to match, and a room code cannot overcome that mismatch. Ask every participant to check the installed version on their own device rather than relying on a screenshot from the host.
- Install every available update. Have the host and every joining player update the game on their own platform. Do not assume that one player’s successful update means everyone has received the same build.
- Use the intended invitation path. In Ratatan, open Multiplayer, use friend matchmaking, or enter the host’s room code. On Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, the FAQ also describes platform-invitation routes. If an invitation fails, try the room-code route only after confirming that all versions match.
- Confirm the console online subscription. The FAQ names Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation Plus, and an Xbox Game Pass subscription that includes online multiplayer as the applicable console prerequisites. A paid game alone does not replace the platform’s online-play requirement.
- Check which player is hosting. Record whether the failure happens only when one particular person hosts. That detail gives support a useful comparison without assuming that the host is automatically at fault.
- Retry after all players are on the same build. If the room still fails, note the platforms involved instead of repeatedly changing router settings. Matching versions do not prove that a particular cross-platform pairing is currently enabled.
There is no single-system local co-op fallback. If two people are trying to play on one console, they need separate systems and the relevant online service. Buying a second controller for the same system will not change that limitation.
How do I update Ratatan on each platform?
Use the platform-specific route below. These are the FAQ’s menu paths; labels can vary slightly with the system’s language or firmware. After updating, fully close and relaunch the game before generating a new room code.

A mid-session drop needs two tracks: rule out a local connection problem, while recognizing that the developer has acknowledged broader reports. On October 16, the Ratata Arts development team wrote: “We have received multiple reports of connection issues, disconnections, and problems during gameplay.” That statement means a player-side setting is not guaranteed to be the cause.
- Capture the circumstances. Write down who was hosting, who was joining, each platform, the installed game version, and the exact point of failure: loading screen, room entry, a particular stage, or after a period of play.
- Compare host and joiner results. If the same two players can enter when the host changes, record that comparison. If every participant drops at once, record that too. These observations are more useful than simply reporting “lag.”
- Check whether other internet activity is stable. If the same connection is dropping in other services, resolve that broader connection problem first. If only Ratatan fails, keep the game-side report possibility open.
- Run one wired-versus-wireless comparison if practical. A temporary Ethernet connection can be a diagnostic experiment. A result that changes the symptom helps identify local wireless instability; it is not an official Ratatan fix and does not prove that new networking hardware is required.
- Retry with the same versions and network requirements satisfied. If the disconnect recurs under the same conditions, report the pattern rather than repeatedly reinstalling or changing unrelated settings.

Steam lists broadband internet and a non-symmetric NAT type for online co-op. The listing gives open or moderate NAT as examples. A symmetric NAT can prevent peers from establishing the connections the game needs even when ordinary web browsing works.

- If the NAT is symmetric or otherwise restrictive, review the router’s documentation and ask the network administrator or internet service provider what options are available.
- Test from a connection you are authorized to change; school, workplace, hotel, and carrier-managed networks may block the required peer connections.
- Keep the firewall and router protected. The FAQ does not instruct players to disable a firewall, expose a device directly to the internet, or forward unspecified ports, so do not use those as generic fixes.
- Write down whether the problem affects every room or only one host. That distinction helps separate a broad network restriction from a session-specific failure.
Network eligibility is a prerequisite, not a promise that every room will work. The acknowledged connection reports mean a compliant NAT and broadband line can still encounter a Ratatan-side failure. How do I stop slow PC play or stutter?

Those are specifications from the Steam system-requirements listing, not a measured frame-rate guarantee or a multiplayer-success rate. If your system is near the minimum, lower the game’s graphics options and compare solo play again. Keep the test consistent: use the same stage and settings, and note whether the problem appears before a room is created.
If solo play is smooth but a room becomes unstable, preserve the distinction in your support report. It points toward an online or game-session issue rather than proving that the GPU or RAM caused the disconnect. Conversely, if solo play already stutters, changing NAT settings is unlikely to address that local rendering problem.
Why is my controller not detected on Steam?
Steam’s official Ratatan listing labels the game as having full controller support and specifically lists Xbox controllers and DualShock/DualSense controllers. The same listing labels the PlayStation-controller support as USB only; it does not establish guaranteed Bluetooth support.

Calibration changes when the game accepts the command; it does not repair a controller that Steam cannot see or a network connection that is dropping. If the timing problem appears only online, compare it with a short solo test before describing it as lag.
Should I buy a cable, Ethernet adapter, or physical edition?

What does “non-symmetric NAT” mean for a Ratatan player?

Does buying a second controller enable local multiplayer?
