Verdict: The Radic8 Hextio H-100 (also identified in product materials as the HX-100) is a compact, directional air-cleaning device for a desk, counter or bedside table—not a replacement for a whole-room or HVAC purifier. The differences in enclosure dimensions and weight are small enough that they are unlikely to change the basic use case, but they can matter when replacing a unit or fitting it into a confined space. Confirm the exact revision, adapter and replacement-part compatibility with the seller or an approved distributor.

Incoming air passes through the composite carbon and HEPA filter, then through the UV-C reactor and TiO2 elements described in the product documentation. That number is a stated product assumption, not an independently verified room-performance result, and it should not be read as a promise that every 215-square-foot room will receive the same air-cleaning effect.
For practical placement, treat the unit as strongest near the person it is aimed at. A desk user can place it beside or slightly in front of the monitor, with the outlet directed toward the breathing zone and without blocking the intake. At a bedside table, keep the outlet clear and aim it across the pillow area rather than into a wall or curtain.
Why the room estimate needs caution
Room volume, doors, windows, ceiling height, furniture and the position of the user all affect the result. A room with an 8-foot ceiling does not have the same volume as one with a taller ceiling, even when floor area is identical. Airflow from a heater, ceiling fan or open window can also disperse the directed stream before it reaches the user.

If you need verified whole-room performance, compare products using a published clean-air delivery rate and an independently measured test method. Hextio’s “Personal” label is more informative for this purpose than treating the 215-square-foot figure as a universal rating.
Is Hextio quiet enough for a bedroom or desk?
Radic8 and associated product materials publish a sound range of 40–49 dB and describe a sleep mode. That is consistent with a relatively low-power personal appliance, but this review did not perform an independent sound measurement, and the supplied documents do not specify the acoustic test distance, room conditions or the exact airflow used for each number.
At a desk, the lower end of the published range should be easier to tolerate than the upper end, particularly when the unit is positioned close to your ears. In a bedroom, personal sensitivity to fan noise varies widely. Listen to the exact revision at its normal setting if possible, and do not assume that “sleep mode” means silent operation or that it preserves the same airflow as the highest setting; the materials do not define those details.

Does Hextio really kill viruses?

Those qualifications are essential. A single-pass kill result describes air that passed through the test system under the stated test conditions; it is not a measurement of the percentage of viruses removed from an occupied room, nor proof that a person is protected from SARS-CoV-2. The 99.9999% figure should therefore be presented as a published product claim for specified comparison viruses, not as independent evidence of real-world COVID-19 protection.
What the claim can and cannot support
- It can support: the existence of a very high single-pass inactivation claim for the named test context.
- It cannot support: a guarantee of room-wide sterilization, elimination of transmission risk or regulatory approval.
- It does not replace: ventilation, source control, filtration sized for the room, or public-health measures appropriate to the situation.
For a purchase decision, give more weight to the complete evidence package: airflow, test protocol, independent verification, serviceability and emissions documentation—not the headline percentage alone.
Does Hextio produce ozone?
Distributor and manual materials describe the technology as ozone-free or as creating zero ozone. That is a manufacturer/distributor claim. What is the final buying recommendation?
Buy the Radic8 Hextio H-100/HX-100 for close-range, one-person use when its compact form and directed airflow solve a specific desk or bedside problem.
