ProducerAI is Google’s browser-based generative music studio. Announced as a Google Labs experiment on February 24, 2026, it turns plain-language directions into music, then lets you revise lyrics, melody, tempo, arrangement and sound. Google Labs now lists the experience as Google Flow Music (formerly ProducerAI). It is different from making a short track in Gemini: Flow Music is organized as a conversational producer workspace and includes “Spaces,” where you can generate small instruments, effects and audio tools. Gemini provides a separate Create music workflow powered by Lyria models. Both services can mark generated audio with Google’s invisible SynthID watermark, while access, duration and controls depend on the product, account and rollout.
What is ProducerAI, and what can it do?
ProducerAI is a web application for creating original music through natural-language conversation. Google announced on February 24, 2026 that the project was joining Google Labs. The current Google Labs directory calls it Google Flow Music (formerly ProducerAI) and describes it as “your music studio for creating original songs and music videos with an AI producer.” The service is presented as available globally at producer.ai, with free and paid plans; Google notes that names, limits and availability can change.

Instead of choosing every sound from a traditional digital audio workstation, you describe an outcome: for example, “Make a 92-BPM lo-fi beat with dusty drums, warm Rhodes chords and an eight-bar section for a spoken-word verse.” The system generates a starting point, after which you can ask for changes in ordinary language. Google positions the tool as a collaborator for writing lyrics, refining melodies and inventing genres rather than as a one-click song button.
The announced technology stack combines Gemini, a preview of the Lyria 3 music model, Veo and Nano Banana. Lyria 3 is described as high-fidelity and professional-grade, with an understanding of rhythm and arrangement. Its announced controls include tempo and time-aligned lyrics. Veo and Nano Banana support the visual side of the Flow Music concept when a project includes music-video work, although the precise set of video controls can change while the experiment is in Labs.

Google says generated outputs include SynthID, an imperceptible watermark intended to identify Google AI-generated content. The mark is not something you hear in the track, but it provides a provenance signal that can be checked with Google’s audio-verification tools in supported workflows.
Is ProducerAI the same as Gemini’s Lyria music generator?
No. They use related Google models, but they are separate experiences. Flow Music is a producer-style studio with conversational iteration and Spaces; Gemini has a dedicated Create music tool inside chat. The following differences are the practical ones.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Area | ProducerAI / Google Flow Music | Gemini Create music |
|---|---|---|
| Interface | A music-studio workspace where you converse with an AI producer and can build or remix Spaces. | Gemini chat menu: Upload and tools → Create music. |
| Input | Natural-language musical direction, revisions to an existing idea, and requests to create instruments or effects in Spaces. | A text description, with an optional uploaded image or video to guide the result. |
| Controls | Google describes controls for tempo, arrangement and time-aligned lyrics, plus the experimental Spaces system. | Choices for vocals or instrumental output, genre, style, templates and track length where the account has access. |
| Typical duration information | No single public duration is stated for every Flow Music project; limits can vary by experiment and plan. | Google’s help page describes a short track of about one minute or a full track of about two to three minutes. The initial Lyria 3 announcement described 30-second tracks. |
| Account model | Google states that Flow Music has free and paid plans; plan quotas and features are subject to change. | Requires an eligible Google account, age and activity settings, and may apply subscription or usage limits. |
| Downloads | Use the export options shown in the current Flow Music interface; the available formats can change during the Labs period. | Google documents MP3 audio and MP4 video with cover art as download options for completed tracks. |
| Provenance | Google says generated outputs carry SynthID. | Gemini-generated tracks carry SynthID, and Google documents an audio check for the watermark. |
If you want a quick song from a prompt or image, Gemini is the more direct route. If you want to keep negotiating arrangement decisions, make custom mini-tools or develop a song-and-video concept in one workspace, Flow Music is the closer fit.
How do I access ProducerAI or Google Flow Music?
Start at producer.ai and sign in if the current experiment requests an account. Google describes the service as globally available, but Labs products can impose regional, age, capacity or plan restrictions without notice. Check the product’s own sign-in screen for the current eligibility message rather than assuming that a feature shown in a demonstration is enabled for every account.
For Gemini’s separate music generator, Google’s help documentation lists these requirements:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Sign in with a personal Google Account or a supported work or school account.
- Keep Activity must be enabled.
- Your account must be in a location and language where Gemini music generation is available.
- Your plan may determine whether longer tracks, higher limits or newer model options are shown.
Availability in Gemini is not proof that Flow Music has the same quota or model version. Treat each product’s current interface and account notice as authoritative.

- Open the studio and start a project. Enter a plain-language request instead of a list of unrelated keywords. Include the mood, approximate tempo, instruments, structure and intended use. “Instrumental” or “with a restrained vocal” is more useful than simply saying “make it good.”
- Specify the first arrangement. Ask for identifiable sections such as an eight-bar intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus and short outro. If you need room for your own voice-over, request an instrumental break and leave space in the midrange.
- Review the first generation critically. Listen for timing, unwanted sounds, crowded frequencies, repeated words and a chorus that fails to become distinct. Write down one or two changes; a focused revision is easier to evaluate than a complete rewrite.
- Iterate with measurable instructions. Ask to raise or lower the tempo, change the drum pattern, move the vocal entrance, simplify the bass or rewrite only a specific lyric line. Lyria 3 is described as understanding rhythm and arrangement, so references to bars, transitions and tempo are meaningful controls.
- Refine lyrics and melody separately. If the words are close but the tune is not, ask for a melodic variation while preserving the lyric meter. If the melody works but a phrase is awkward, request a replacement for that phrase rather than regenerating the whole song.
- Request visual material when needed. Flow Music is described as supporting original songs and music videos. State the visual mood, setting, pacing and relationship between cuts and musical sections; keep the visual brief separate from the audio changes so you can tell which revision affected which output.
- Save versions before major changes. Keep a named copy of a promising arrangement before asking for a new genre, different singer or structural rewrite. Generative revisions are not guaranteed to preserve every successful detail.
- Export and label the result. Record the prompt, date, model or product name shown in the interface and any account or plan information. If the file will be shared, note that Google identifies generated content with SynthID.
What are Spaces, and why are they different from ordinary music generation?
Spaces are Flow Music’s most distinctive idea: you describe a small instrument, effect or creative utility in natural language, and the system builds a shareable mini-application. Google gives examples ranging from a simple keyboard to a node-based modular audio-patching environment.
Instrument Spaces
An instrument Space might be a keyboard with an unusual tuning, a drum pad with velocity-sensitive variations or a synthesizer with a narrowly defined tone. Describe the playable controls you need, the range, the sound character and how notes should respond. Start small; a request for one clear instrument is easier to test than a complete workstation.
Effect and routing Spaces
An effect Space can represent a delay, filter, distortion or other processing idea. For a modular Space, explain the signal path in order: input, processing nodes, modulation source and output. Ask for visible controls with meaningful names so another person can understand the patch without reading your original prompt.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Sharing and remixing
Google says Spaces can be shared and remixed. That makes them useful as collaborative building blocks: publish a playable idea, let another creator alter its controls, and keep the original version as a reference. Sharing does not turn a generated Space into a conventional plug-in or guarantee compatibility with another audio application; it remains an experiment inside the supported Flow Music environment.
Can ProducerAI make full songs?
It can generate song-like arrangements, but “full song” depends on which Google product and account you use. Flow Music’s public description emphasizes original songs, yet Google has not stated one universal duration for every Flow Music project. Limits can vary by experiment, plan and rollout.
Gemini’s documented choices are more specific. Google’s initial Lyria 3 announcement described a 30-second custom track from a text description or uploaded image, with custom cover art. Current Gemini help instructions describe a short track of about one minute or a full track of about two to three minutes when the account has access. Google’s Lyria 3.5 overview advertises tracks up to three minutes. These figures describe Google’s stated product options, not a guarantee that every user will see every length.
For a longer composition, create a clear section plan and generate compatible parts rather than assuming one request will produce a radio-length master. Keep the key, tempo, vocalist description and instrumentation consistent in each prompt, then check transitions manually. The service can help with ideas and arrangements, but you remain responsible for continuity, editing and final mastering.

What changed with Lyria 3.5?
Google’s September 4, 2026 update says Lyria 3.5 is available globally in Gemini and adds richer vocals, improved arrangements, templates, genre selection and vocal-or-instrumental selection, along with short or longer track choices. Google also lists Lyria 3.5 availability in Flow Music, Google AI Studio and Google Vids. Because model routing can depend on account and product, look for the model or feature label shown in your session instead of assuming every generation uses Lyria 3.5.
How should I write prompts that produce controllable music?
A useful prompt gives the model musical constraints and a reason for each one. Put the most important decisions first, then describe structure and exclusions.
A practical prompt pattern
- Purpose: “Create an instrumental bed for a five-minute technology explainer.”
- Genre and reference characteristics: “Minimal electronic, syncopated but not aggressive, with a clean modern mix.” Avoid naming a living artist as a command to copy.
- Tempo and key feel: “Around 100 BPM, bright minor-key tension resolving to a hopeful chorus.”
- Instrumentation: “Soft synth bass, muted plucks, brushed percussion and a restrained pad.”
- Structure: “Four-bar intro, 16-bar main section, eight-bar lift, 16-bar return and a clean ending.”
- Vocal direction: “Instrumental,” or specify language, delivery and lyrical subject if vocals are wanted.
- Exclusions: “No crowd noise, no spoken countdown, no abrupt stop.”
After the first result, change one variable at a time. “Keep the arrangement and melody; replace the snare with a softer rim sound and reduce the bass during the verse” gives the system a preservation target. A vague request such as “make it better” provides no testable instruction.
Can I ask ProducerAI to imitate a named artist?
Google says the music tools are designed for original expression rather than direct imitation of named artists. Its product documentation explains that an artist name is treated as broad creative inspiration, with filters and reporting processes for potentially infringing content. Describe musical attributes instead: tempo range, instrumentation, vocal character, harmonic density, production era and emotional tone.
You are still responsible for how you use the output. Follow Google’s Terms of Service and generative-AI prohibited-use policies, and do not present a generated performance as an authentic recording by a real person. Avoid uploading material you do not have permission to use as a prompt or reference.
What does SynthID mean for a generated track?
SynthID is an imperceptible watermark that Google embeds in generated content. It is intended to help identify that audio came from Google’s generative systems; it is not a license, a copyright ruling or a guarantee that every downstream copy will remain verifiable after aggressive editing.
Google’s Gemini music overview says users can upload audio and ask Gemini to check for SynthID as part of its audio-verification capability. Keep the original exported file and generation details if provenance matters for a client, classroom or publication. A positive check supports the claim that Google-generated content is present, but the check does not establish who owns every musical element in a mixed or edited track.

What are the main limitations and failure modes?
The option or model is missing
Confirm that you are signed in to an eligible account, that Keep Activity is enabled for Gemini, and that your region, language and plan support music generation. A feature may be enabled in Flow Music but not Gemini, or vice versa. If the product displays a waitlist or capacity message, retrying prompts will not bypass that account-level restriction.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The result is too short
Check whether you selected the short or full-track option in Gemini. The documented lengths are approximate and account-dependent. In Flow Music, save the strongest section and request a continuation with the same tempo, key feel and instrumentation rather than expecting an undocumented duration setting.
Lyrics are mispronounced or poorly timed
Use shorter lines, mark the desired section boundaries and specify pronunciation for unusual names. Ask for time-aligned lyrics or a rewrite that preserves syllable count. Listen for consonants at phrase endings and correct those lines individually.
The arrangement changes too much during revision
State what must remain unchanged: tempo, key, chord progression, vocal identity or drum groove. Save a version before each major edit and make one request at a time. Generative systems can still alter details, so export promising versions instead of relying on an undo history that may not preserve every state.
The output resembles a real artist too closely
Remove the artist’s name and describe general traits. If a result appears to imitate a recognizable performer or contains material you believe infringes someone’s rights, do not publish it; use the product’s reporting process and regenerate with broader, original direction.

Treat the generation as a creative source, not a guaranteed mastered release. Check headroom, clipping, vocal intelligibility, low-frequency buildup and abrupt endings in an audio editor. Flow Music and Gemini documentation do not promise a particular loudness target, mastering standard or commercial distribution clearance.
Which workflow should a beginner choose?
Choose Gemini when the goal is a fast experiment: open Gemini, select Upload and tools → Create music, optionally add an image or video, choose vocals or instrumental and select a genre or length if those controls appear. Choose Flow Music when the project needs ongoing producer-style conversation, custom Spaces or a combined song-and-video concept. Begin with a short brief, preserve versions and add constraints progressively. Musicians can use it for sketches, lyric alternatives, arrangement ideas and unusual instruments; educators can use it for demonstrations; video creators can prototype beds and transitions. In each case, review rights, provenance and technical quality before public release.
How much does ProducerAI cost?
Google’s announcement states that ProducerAI is offered with free and paid plans, but it does not establish a permanent price list or universal quota. Labs pricing, generation limits and plan names can change. Gemini music generation can also vary by account and subscription. Check the plan and usage information displayed at the time you sign in, and treat promotional or limited allowances as temporary unless Google explicitly labels them recurring.
What should I document before publishing AI-generated music?
Keep a simple production record:
- The product used: Flow Music/ProducerAI or Gemini.
- The date, model label and account or plan shown in the interface.
- The exact prompt and any uploaded reference media.
- Which parts were generated, edited, performed or mixed by people.
- The exported file before later mastering or format conversion.
- Any SynthID check result and the date it was performed.
This record helps you answer attribution questions, reproduce a successful prompt and distinguish a Google-generated element from your own recording. It does not replace legal advice about copyright or licensing in your jurisdiction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a musical instrument to use ProducerAI?
No. The core interaction is text-based, so you can describe rhythm, harmony, lyrics and arrangement without owning a keyboard or microphone. Instruments become useful only if you want to perform or edit the generated material outside the browser.
Can I upload my own song and have Flow Music finish it?
The documented workflows emphasize natural-language generation, revision and Spaces; they do not promise a universal stem-upload or continuation feature. If an upload control appears in your account, read its rights and file-use terms before submitting material you do not own.
Will SynthID prove that I own the song?
No. SynthID is a provenance signal for Google-generated content, not an ownership certificate or copyright registration. Keep your prompts, source recordings and editing records if you need to explain authorship.
Why does Gemini show a different track length from a friend’s account?
Google makes music availability and duration dependent on account eligibility, plan, region, language and rollout. One account may show the short option while another also receives the longer two-to-three-minute choice.
