Pokémon UNITE will shut down on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC on Nintendo Switch and mobile. After that moment, you will not be able to log in or play battles. Your account will not remain a playable online profile, and the official notices do not promise continued access to matchmaking, progression, inventory, licenses, Holowear, or other live-service features.
The one announced preservation option is the Library. If you complete its required data download before service ends, you can view certain records and in-game content afterward. That download is device-sensitive, generally cannot be transferred to another device, and cannot be activated after the deadline.

What happens to your Pokémon UNITE account and progress?
Your live account stops functioning as an online game account when the service closes. The official notice does not say that battles, matchmaking, ranked history, account progression, online inventory, or cloud-synchronised data will remain available. It promises only limited viewing through the Library for eligible players.
Live gameplay progress
Levels, rankings, battle results, missions, event status, and other systems that depend on UNITE’s servers should be treated as unavailable after March 23, 2027. Do not assume that linking the same Nintendo Account, Apple account, Google account, or Pokémon Trainer account will recreate a playable profile after shutdown; the closure notice makes no such promise.

Licenses, Holowear, and records
The Library is intended to preserve certain records and in-game content, but the announcements do not describe it as a replacement for the game or guarantee that every item in your account will appear. A license or cosmetic that was usable during the live service should not be assumed to remain usable after the deadline. The Library is a viewing feature, not a way to start battles or continue earning rewards.
What the Library actually requires
After the scheduled November 12 update, follow the in-game instructions to download the required Library data. The download must be completed before service ends. Players who miss that step cannot turn on the Library afterward, according to Pokémon Support.
Library data generally cannot be transferred when you change devices. If you want to preserve the records on a particular Switch or phone, complete the download there and avoid treating a later device migration as a backup. The official announcement also warns that post-shutdown support for the Library will not be available; if the game or its Library data is deleted or becomes corrupted after closure, recovery may not be possible.

Can you still use Aeos Gems before Pokémon UNITE closes?
Aeos Gem sales stopped on October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC. Gems already in your account can be used until the service deadline, but the official announcement says unused Gems will no longer be usable once service ends.
What to do with a remaining balance
- Check your current Aeos Gem balance and the expiration date of any time-limited content you are considering.
- Use Gems before March 23, 2027, unless an official refund process in your region tells you to preserve an eligible balance.
- Do not buy gift cards or attempt new Gem purchases after sales have been suspended; a failed transaction cannot extend server access.
Spending Gems does not preserve your account or convert the balance into a permanent offline version of UNITE. Any purchase decision should be based on whether you want to use the content before the shutdown, not on an expectation that it will remain playable afterward.
Will Pokémon UNITE refund your purchases?
There is no single worldwide refund answer in the published notices. The general terms say that fees paid for virtual content cannot be exchanged for cash or credit unless required by law, and that account closure does not create a refund or compensation obligation unless the law requires it.
A separate official Japan notice describes a specific post-shutdown process for unused purchased paid Aeos Gems. It says those Gems can be eligible for a refund request through an in-game form. Bonus Gems and Gems granted as UNITE membership benefits are excluded. The Japan procedure should not be treated as a universal policy for other countries.
If you are in Japan
- Read the Japanese shutdown notice and the in-game instructions for the refund form.
- Keep the game installed until you have completed any required application.
- Submit the request for eligible purchased paid Gems through the stated in-game process.
- Retain any confirmation or transaction information the form provides.
The Japan notice specifically warns players not to delete the game before completing the refund procedure because deletion may prevent an application. It does not say that bonus or membership-benefit Gems qualify.

If you are elsewhere
Look for a notice from Pokémon UNITE or Pokémon Support for your country before assuming a refund exists. The general terms are not a promise of a shutdown refund, and a regional law or consumer-protection rule may change what is available. Until your region publishes a process, the safest distinction is between using Gems before the deadline and preserving them only when an official local procedure tells you to do so.
What happens to UNITE Club?
New UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals stopped on October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC. If you already had a membership at that time, its benefits continue only through the end of the membership period already in force.
There is no indication that UNITE Club will renew after its current period or continue after service closure. Check the membership end date shown in your account rather than assuming a recurring charge or benefit will continue. Membership-benefit Gems are also treated differently from purchased paid Gems in the Japan refund notice.
What should you do before March 23, 2027?
Use this checklist in order. It separates preservation steps from spending and support decisions so you do not accidentally remove evidence needed for a regional process.

- Complete the Library data download. Follow every in-game confirmation and wait for the download to finish. A partially started download is not the same as a completed one.
- Keep that device and installation intact. Because Library data generally cannot be transferred, avoid deleting the app, resetting the console, or changing devices until you have decided how to preserve the data.
- Review your Aeos Gems. Use the balance before the deadline unless an official refund process for your region specifically covers it.
- Check UNITE Club. Record the end of your current membership period and verify that no renewal is expected after October 27, 2026.
- Resolve open support cases. The Library announcement says support will not be available after service ends, so raise account, purchase, or access problems while the service is live.
- Follow any regional refund instructions before uninstalling. In Japan, the notice says the game must not be deleted before the in-game refund application is completed. Other regions may publish different requirements.
- Do not delete your account. Account deletion is separate from the server shutdown and permanently removes account data, including purchases.
Is deleting your account the same as the shutdown?
No. The shutdown is a service-wide event; deleting your account is an individual, irreversible action. Pokémon Support says that deleting an account removes all data, including purchases, and that the data cannot be recovered.

Deleting the account is therefore not a preservation method and may interfere with a regional refund process. If your goal is to retain Library records or document a purchase issue, leave the account and installation intact until you have completed the relevant steps.
What will still work after the servers close?
The only post-shutdown feature explicitly announced is the Library for players who completed its data download in advance. It is designed for viewing selected records and in-game content, not for online play.
- Login to the live game: unavailable after March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC.
- Online battles and matchmaking: unavailable after the deadline.
- New progression, missions, events, and server-synchronised inventory: not promised after closure.
- Unused Aeos Gems: no longer usable after closure.
- Library: available only when the required download was completed before closure, on data that may be tied to the original device.
- Post-shutdown customer support: not available for the Library according to the official announcement.
How should you decide between spending Gems and preserving them for a refund review?
Use five questions: your region, whether the Gems were purchased or granted as a bonus, whether an official refund process exists, whether that process requires the game to remain installed, and how close you are to the March 23, 2027 deadline.

What is the safest way to preserve your Pokémon UNITE history?

Save receipts and correspondence for any purchase or support dispute while support remains available. These records cannot extend the service, but they can help you follow a regional process that asks for transaction details.

Can I move my Pokémon UNITE Library from Switch to a phone after shutdown?
The official announcement says Library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices. Treat the device used for the completed download as the copy you must preserve; there is no announced post-shutdown migration service.
Will linking my Nintendo Account preserve my Pokémon UNITE purchases?
Account linking does not create a separate offline entitlement. The shutdown notice promises only limited Library viewing after the download, not continued access to purchased content or a playable account.
Can I reinstall Pokémon UNITE after March 23, 2027?
