For more reliable Pikmin Bloom tracking on Android, allow the app to run without battery restrictions, grant it location access all the time, and permit physical-activity and background-data access. Turn Battery Saver and Data Saver off while troubleshooting, and use a reliable connection. These settings can help prevent missed steps, delayed updates, and lost background location—but they may use more battery. They improve the chance that the app can do its work; they do not promise longer battery life.
Which Android settings matter most for Pikmin Bloom?
The key is to let Pikmin Bloom access the activity, location, and data it needs while Android is limiting fewer background tasks. Start with the app’s battery setting and permissions, then check system-wide saver modes if tracking still fails. Android menu names and paths vary by phone maker and software version, so look for the equivalent setting if the wording on your device differs.

- Remove the app’s battery restriction: Open Settings > Apps > Pikmin Bloom > Battery and select No Restrictions, if that option is available.
- Allow background location: In Pikmin Bloom’s app permissions, set Location to Allow all the time, and make sure the device’s Location service is on.
- Allow activity access: Permit the app’s Physical activity permission. If you use a connected health app, check its tracking and connection settings too.
- Check data access: Turn off Data Saver during troubleshooting and make sure background data has not been restricted for Pikmin Bloom, Google Play Services, or Google Play Store.
- Reduce competition while playing: Close other apps, use a reliable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection, and keep Pikmin Bloom and Android updated.
These are troubleshooting settings, not a guarantee of a particular step count, battery runtime, or performance gain. Niantic’s guidance focuses on allowing the app and related services to operate; it does not publish a measured battery-life or performance improvement for changing these settings.
How do I stop Android from limiting Pikmin Bloom in the background?
Set Pikmin Bloom’s battery usage to No Restrictions when your phone offers that choice. This app-specific exception is particularly relevant when tracking or updates stop after you lock the screen or leave the app.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Change the app’s battery setting
On many Android phones, start at Settings > Apps > Pikmin Bloom > Battery. The final screen might instead be called App battery usage, Battery usage, or something similar. Choose No Restrictions if available. Some phones use other labels for allowing background activity; use the least restrictive option offered for Pikmin Bloom rather than assuming every device has the same menu.
Changing this setting does not turn off every system-wide power-saving feature. If a device is still limiting activity, check whether Battery Saver is enabled. Niantic also advises disabling restrictive modes such as Restrict apps and home screen on devices that offer that feature. That label is not universal, so check your phone’s battery or power-saving settings for an equivalent restriction.
Check Battery Saver separately
Turn Battery Saver off while diagnosing missed steps, delayed updates, or background tracking. This helps determine whether a system-wide saver is contributing to the problem. If you need broad power saving at other times, you can turn it back on when you no longer need Pikmin Bloom’s background functions.
There is a trade-off: Battery Saver and app battery limits exist to reduce power use. Removing those limits may let Pikmin Bloom do more in the background, but it can consume more battery. A less restrictive setup is therefore a reliability choice, not a battery-life optimization.
What location permission does Pikmin Bloom need?
For location to update while the app is not running, Niantic recommends Android’s Allow all the time location permission. Keep the phone’s Location service enabled as well; app permission cannot provide location if the device service itself is off.

Open Pikmin Bloom’s app information in Android Settings and find Permissions > Location, or the closest equivalent on your phone. Choose Allow all the time if the option appears. A permission that only allows location while the app is in use does not provide the same background access. Niantic says that without background location access, “the app will not reflect your location when it is not running,” and some features are restricted.

Location access has a privacy and power cost: the app can access location in the background, and location use can draw power. If you do not want to allow that access, choose a more limited permission knowingly; background location features may then be unavailable or less reliable. Do not assume that a step-counting setting alone will restore location updates while the app is closed.
Why is Pikmin Bloom not counting steps when my phone is locked?
A locked screen is a useful clue that background activity may be limited, but it does not identify one cause by itself. Check the app’s battery setting, physical-activity permission, step-tracking method, and any system-wide saver mode before changing several things at once.
- Confirm Physical activity permission: Open Pikmin Bloom’s permissions in Android Settings and allow Physical activity.
- Check the selected tracking method: Niantic recommends Track with your phone for Android step-counting problems. If you use Google Fit instead, confirm its tracking preference and its connection to Pikmin Bloom.
- Remove background limits: Verify Pikmin Bloom is set to No Restrictions where available, then check Battery Saver and any manufacturer-specific restriction on background apps.
- Review health-data access: If using Health Connect, make sure the required step and background-data access has been granted. Pikmin Bloom support for Health Connect requires Android 14 or later.
After changing a permission or tracking method, allow the app and its connected service to operate under the new configuration, then check whether the missed tracking problem continues. The official guidance does not establish a universal delay or a single fix for every Android phone, so avoid treating one unchanged screen immediately after a setting change as proof that all steps will be lost.
Should I use Track with your phone or Google Fit?
For Android step-counting issues, Niantic’s recommended method is Track with your phone. Google Fit is an alternative, but it depends on Google Fit’s own tracking preference and a correctly configured connection to Pikmin Bloom.

| Setup | What to check | Practical consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Track with your phone | Allow Pikmin Bloom’s Physical activity permission; Niantic recommends this option when Android step counting is incorrect. | Fewer connected-app settings to verify. |
| Google Fit | Enable Google Fit activity tracking and confirm the connected-app relationship with Pikmin Bloom. | Useful if you choose Google Fit, but a tracking preference or connection issue can affect whether steps are shared. |
| Health Connect | Grant the required step and background-data access. | Pikmin Bloom support requires Android 14 or later. |
These methods are not a promise that every phone will count identically. If steps are missing, check the method you actually use and its permissions rather than configuring several tracking routes without knowing which one Pikmin Bloom is using.
Can Data Saver or a weak connection delay updates?
Yes, restricted background data or an unreliable connection can interfere with updates and synchronization. Turn Data Saver off while troubleshooting, and confirm that background data has not been blocked for Pikmin Bloom or relevant Google services.
In Android Settings, search for Data Saver or open the network and data-usage settings. The exact path varies. If Data Saver is on, disable it temporarily to see whether updates improve. If you keep it on, look for an option to allow unrestricted or background data for Pikmin Bloom. Niantic also advises checking that background data access has not been restricted for Google Play Services or the Google Play Store.
Use a reliable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection when checking synchronization. If the problem appears to involve connection or time synchronization, enable automatic date and time and automatic time zone in Android’s date-and-time settings. These checks address connectivity and clock settings; they do not substitute for location or activity permissions.
Why does Pikmin Bloom drain my battery?
Allowing background location and unrestricted background activity can increase power use, and disabling Battery Saver removes one system-level way to conserve energy. The appropriate setup depends on whether you prioritize background reliability or limiting battery use when you are not playing.

Niantic’s official guidance provides no numeric battery-life change, percentage, or performance benchmark for these Android settings. It would be misleading to promise a specific improvement or claim that unrestricted battery use extends battery life. If you notice higher power use after enabling background access, decide whether the location and tracking features are worth that cost; when you do not need them, you can use Android’s broader power-saving options again.
For a practical balance, change the app-specific settings needed for the features you want, and use Battery Saver or Data Saver when conserving power or data matters more. Remember that a system-wide saver can reintroduce the conditions you were troubleshooting, so check it again if tracking or updates become unreliable.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which Android versions and phones are supported?
Niantic’s supported-device guidance lists Android 9.0 or later and 64-bit support, and recommends at least 2 GB of RAM for optimal performance. Those are compatibility guidance and a recommendation—not a measured promise that every device meeting them will perform the same way.
Health Connect is a separate version consideration: Pikmin Bloom support for it requires Android 14 or later. If a device is on an earlier Android release, do not expect Health Connect integration to become available just by changing permissions; consider the other supported tracking setup instead.
Menu labels and background-management behavior differ among Android manufacturers and versions. If the path in this article does not match your phone, use Android Settings search for the setting name—such as Pikmin Bloom, Battery, Location, Physical activity, or Data Saver—and check the app’s information page. A manufacturer may add its own background or power restriction beyond the standard Android app permission.

What should I check if tracking still fails?
Use a short, ordered diagnosis so you can identify whether the problem is permission, power management, tracking configuration, or connection-related. Niantic also recommends keeping the app and Android current and closing other apps while playing.
- Check compatibility and updates: Confirm the device meets Niantic’s Android 9.0-or-later and 64-bit guidance, and install available Android and Pikmin Bloom updates.
- Check app permissions: Verify all-the-time location access if you need background location, and allow Physical activity for step tracking.
- Check background power limits: Set Pikmin Bloom to No Restrictions if available. Turn Battery Saver off during diagnosis and look for additional manufacturer-specific background limits.
- Check the tracking route: Use Track with your phone as Niantic recommends for Android step-counting trouble, or verify Google Fit tracking and connection settings if you chose that route.
- Check data and time: Turn Data Saver off while troubleshooting, verify relevant background data access, use a reliable connection, and enable automatic date/time and time zone.
- Reduce competing activity: Close other apps while playing, as Niantic advises.
If the issue continues after these checks, the available official guidance does not establish a universal device-specific fix. Make a note of the Android version, phone model, tracking method, and which symptoms occur—missed steps, stale location, or delayed synchronization—so support can distinguish the likely cause.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Pikmin Bloom need to stay open on screen to count steps?
Not necessarily: background tracking is one reason to allow the relevant location and activity access. Whether steps register with the screen off can still depend on the selected tracking method and the phone’s background restrictions.
Can I deny background location and still play Pikmin Bloom?
You can choose a more limited location permission, but Niantic says some features are restricted without background location. The choice is a privacy-versus-background-functionality trade-off, not a setting that guarantees the same feature behavior.
Does Pikmin Bloom support Health Connect on Android 13?
Niantic’s guidance specifies Android 14 or later for Pikmin Bloom support with Health Connect. On an earlier Android version, use another available step-tracking setup instead.
Will updating Android fix Pikmin Bloom by itself?
An update can address outdated software, but it does not automatically grant location, activity, or background-data permissions. Check those settings separately if the symptom persists.
