Yes—Phantom Blade Zero has New Game Plus at launch, but it is an optional combat-and-completion mode rather than a second story campaign. After the credits, you can carry your equipment, progression items, ability training and archives into a more difficult cycle. The main completion challenge is the missable True ending: launch-day trophy guides document two endings, while director Soulframe Liang has said the game contains eight variations driven by side quests and items. A careful first run can earn the Platinum on any of the first three difficulties, but you should follow the True-ending checklist and keep manual saves before the two points of no return. After that, replay value comes from late-game weapons, weapon-specific growth, Cycle ability ranks through NG+6 and the separate 66 Days hardcore mode—not from a live-service grind.
What does Phantom Blade Zero offer after the credits?
The post-game path is a sequence of optional choices: clean up regions and trophies on your completed save, begin New Game Plus (NG+), raise abilities through later Cycles, or attempt 66 Days. There is no Destiny-style repeatable activity list, raid tier or enemy-farming loop. Enemies remain dead after they are defeated, so each replay is a fresh route through the maps rather than an endless resource circuit.

Director Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang told interviewers that the reason for NG+ is practical: weapons obtained very late, including weapons from powerful or final bosses, would otherwise have little time to use. He estimated that at least the final ten weapons can change how early bosses feel in NG+ or 66 Days; that is a developer estimate, not a published weapon count.
Is there New Game Plus in Phantom Blade Zero?
Yes. It is available in the launch version and starts from your finished character, not from a separate story campaign. Once the credits roll, fast-travel from any bell to the Puppet Cell at the Mountain of Imprisonment and speak with Inanis. That conversation enables the next cycle.

Launch-day reporting describes NG+ as “more perilous” and more difficult, but no first-party table gives a complete enemy-health multiplier or every currency rule. Treat the published carry-over list as the reliable baseline rather than assuming every inventory category transfers.
Does NG+ have exclusive story content or trophies?
No exclusive story chapter has been announced, and no trophy is tied specifically to NG+. Liang said, “We’re not holding back exclusive story content for New Game Plus.” The mode exists so you can use late weapons, replay quests with a developed build and pursue higher ability ranks—not to reveal a hidden campaign.

There are 32 abilities, and their final ranks require The Banyan’s Heart plus Remnant Dust after you collect sets of eight Sha-Chi Ambers, Blackstones and Memory Flowers. You can allocate five ranks per Cycle, up to NG+6, and reset ability allocations. This is meaningful long-term progression, but it is optional and separate from the Platinum requirements.
How many endings does Phantom Blade Zero have?
The answer depends on whether you mean the developer’s planned variation count or the endings documented by launch-day trophy guides. Liang said in a 2025 interview, “We have 8 different endings in the game, depending on how many side quests you complete.” At launch, PowerPyx documented two reproducible outcomes: a Normal ending and a True ending, also called the Perfect ending in guides. No independent launch source has verified eight separate cinematic routes or supplied official names for all eight, so do not rely on third-party lists of named endings.
The documented routes are:
- Normal: the default conclusion after Meng Hua, the Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil. Its trophy is All Dreams Must End (“All Schemes Come to Nothing”). There is no trophy simply for viewing this ending.
- True/Perfect: completing the ending-related quest and boss requirements changes the sequence after Meng Hua and leads to the true final boss. Its missable gold trophy is With Heart and Blood (“All Comes to Light”).
These labels are descriptive guide terminology, not confirmed official names for an eight-ending taxonomy. If you want to see both documented outcomes, make a manual save before the final route; the cleanest second viewing is not officially confirmed to be NG+.

How do I get the True or Perfect ending?
It is a checklist completed throughout the game, not a final dialogue selection. Finish every required purple-icon tale, defeat two optional blade masters, complete Bloodline Awakening and then clear the true final boss route after Meng Hua.

Mirage Estate in Pangzhen is the first warning point, at the end of The Four Serpent Houses. Before entering, complete:
- Deep in the Valley
- Illusion of Inanis
- Sha-Chi Powered Boat
- Allure of Vanity
- Illusory Pipa
- Pillars of Kunlun
- Whence the Weeping
- The Herald’s Illusion

Finish the late requirements
- Complete Bloodline Awakening after the fifth Long Pillar challenge and before Mount Soulrend.
- Defeat Zhu Yuan at the Meigu Lake Sha-Chi Tower.
- Defeat Commander Bi Feng at the Mountain of Imprisonment. These two fights award The Two Blade Masters.
The second warning appears at the bell called The Last Chance in Mount Soulrend. It appears even when your checklist is complete because entering the final-boss area locks you in until the ending plays. Afterward, you can return to explore. PowerPyx reports that the listed tales are not failed by ordinary actions; the cutoffs are the important danger. If the Journal marks a tale red as failed, reload a save.
Can I earn the Platinum Trophy in one playthrough?
Yes. One playthrough on Wayfarer, Pathbreaker or Hellwalker is enough, and difficulty does not affect trophies. PowerPyx lists 36 offline trophies—one Platinum, three Gold, 14 Silver and 18 Bronze—with a 30–40-hour Platinum estimate and a minimum of one playthrough. Liang stated that all achievements can be earned on the first three difficulty levels, including Wayfarer.

No DLC or 66 Days attempt is required. You may change difficulty from the pause menu in standard modes, although 66 Days has its own save rules.
Which side quests can I miss?
PowerPyx flags several tripwires before the Mirage Estate cutoff. Keep a manual save at the start and end of each region; the game provides 20 manual slots and three rotating autosaves.
- Spectral Blade: start A Severed Mindseal in Weeping Valley Creek before leaving the region.
- The Healer’s Legacy: complete Apprentice Healer before Jing Ye, then A Healer’s Mercy and give Yu’er the Flesh Lily before Bai Chilian.
- The Last of Baishan: accept Secrets of the Baishan Sect from Lanlan before Bai Chilian.
- Together Till the End / A Wanderer’s Honor: accept The Journey Home and Young Master Lan in the Village of Lu and complete their first objectives before entering Pangzhen.
Many people and locations are missable beyond these trophies. IGN’s completionist account also describes a Donnie Yen training questline involving the gold-masked man. If your priority is the Platinum and the True ending, prioritize purple-icon tales and the checklist above rather than assuming every NPC remains available after each chapter.
What is 66 Days mode?
66 Days is a separate hardcore run built around a 66-death limit, Hellwalker-level enemy intelligence and permanent save consequences. It is not a loot mode or a faster way to farm weapons.

- Touching the mode’s bell triggers autosave; there is no manual save.
- You cannot reload to erase a mistake.
- When the 66-death allowance is exhausted, the game plays a regret ending and turns that session into history before asking whether you want to start over.
Liang presented Sixty-Six Days as the New Game Plus-exclusive hardcore mode after deciding that full-game permadeath from the opening minute would be excessive. Other launch reporting describes it as unlocking after a Pathbreaker or Hellwalker completion, so the exact unlock wording should be checked against the current in-game prompt. Either way, it is optional and has no trophy attached. Liang also said nobody on the S-Game team had yet completed it deathless, while believing a player eventually will.

How different are the difficulty modes?
Difficulty changes enemy behavior, not just numerical damage. Liang explained that higher settings activate more skills and more dangerous behavior trees. A PlayStation Blog description names Wayfarer, Hellwalker and Sixty-Six Days; launch guides and reviews also identify Pathbreaker as the standard middle rung.

For example, reporting on the Flower Bride/Hua says Hellwalker can send three white flowers from different directions instead of one. Standard modes allow difficulty changes from the pause menu; do not assume that safety valve applies to 66 Days.
How long is the story, Platinum and endgame?
Plan around 30–50 hours for a thorough first run, depending on how much you explore and how often you die. Liang estimated 20–30 hours for a direct main-story route in 2025 and 25–30 hours for an experienced player who does not get stuck in 2026. Those figures assume you are not pursuing every tale.

IGN’s reviewer reported nearly 200 deaths in a roughly 50-hour hardest-difficulty run, with about half caused by falls and geometry rather than combat. Bosses use phase checkpoints, so a death generally restarts at the phase reached instead of forcing a full multi-phase replay. Add extra Cycles and 66 Days on top of these campaign estimates.

The replay loop is build experimentation and route knowledge. The PlayStation Blog lists more than 30 primary weapons, up to 25 Phantom Edges and six accessories. Weapons can be upgraded and reforged, refunding materials, while weapon growth changes handling and strategy rather than only raising attack power. Liang specifically contrasts the same weapon at level 1 and level 30 as potentially having “vastly different” operation methods.

Game Informer describes very few repeated bosses outside separate trials. That supports a deliberate replay of routes and weapon matchups rather than an endgame built around endlessly respawning targets.
Is there a traditional live-service endgame?
No. At launch, the supported endgame is finite and single-player. After the credits, you can finish collectibles and tales, replay the campaign with NG+ Cycles, and attempt 66 Days. There is no announced launch raid, seasonal ladder or story expansion. Liang told 4Gamer that the team wanted every part of the game to be valuable without making players repeat the same content endlessly. The Steam launch listing contains the Digital Deluxe cosmetics, artbook and soundtrack, not a story expansion.
The game launched digitally on PlayStation 5 and Windows through Steam and the Epic Games Store on 29 October 2026 (28 October evening in the Americas). A physical PS5 Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate range is announced for 2027, but it is not a current post-game feature and its disc/download arrangement remains unconfirmed.
Which post-credits route should I choose?
- Want the Platinum and the most complete first ending? Play Wayfarer, Pathbreaker or Hellwalker, follow the purple-tale checklist, defeat Zhu Yuan and Bi Feng, and keep manual saves before Mirage Estate and The Last Chance.
- Want to compare Normal and True endings? Preserve a save before the final route, view the documented outcome available to you, then reload rather than assuming NG+ will cleanly provide the other ending.
- Want combat mastery? Enter NG+ after free-roam cleanup so late weapons and carried training are immediately available; pursue Cycle ranks toward NG+6.
- Want the harshest possible run? Reserve 66 Days for a separate attempt. Its no-reload, 66-death structure is fundamentally different from ordinary NG+.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change difficulty during a normal playthrough?
Launch reporting says standard modes can be changed from the pause menu, so you can reduce or raise the challenge without restarting the campaign. That convenience should not be assumed for 66 Days, whose separate save and autosave-only rules are designed to prevent reloading around mistakes.
Do boss deaths reset the entire fight?
Several reviews describe phase checkpoints that restart a defeated player at the phase reached rather than at the beginning of a multi-phase boss. This reduces retry time, although it does not remove the need to relearn later attack patterns or manage healing resources.
Is the Digital Deluxe edition needed for any ending or trophy?
No. The Deluxe package adds two outfits, a digital artbook and a digital soundtrack; the launch trophy roadmap requires neither those items nor paid DLC. Ending flags, missable tales and Platinum requirements are present in the Standard game.

Will the 2027 physical edition include the complete game on the disc?
A physical PS5 Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate release is planned for 2027, but the disc layout and required downloads have not been confirmed. The reported PS5 download is about 134.857 GB, so an additional download or multi-disc solution is possible.
