Short answer: the Panasonic NR-CY54BGWAU is a roomy, relatively narrow French-door refrigerator with useful freshness features, but it is no longer a current model. Its 445L rated storage is split into a large refrigerator section and a comparatively small freezer, and owner feedback is mixed on that layout. Is the Panasonic NR-CY54BGWAU any good?
It can be a sensible buy for a household that prioritises refrigerator space, French-door access and a cabinet under 800mm wide. It is a weaker choice if you need a large frozen-food reserve, adjustable door storage or the certainty of a current manufacturer’s warranty.
Panasonic’s operating instructions identify a 547L gross-capacity white French-door refrigerator with 445L of rated storage. The storage figure is the more useful one for planning groceries: 346L is assigned to the refrigerator compartment and 99L to the freezer. That split explains the model’s central trade-off. You receive substantial fresh-food capacity, but the freezer is modest for a refrigerator of this external size.

The model uses an inverter compressor and carries ECONAVI branding. Panasonic also promoted Prime Fresh light freezing and Fresh Safe vegetable storage. Those features are reasons to consider the design, not proof that it will preserve food better than every newer appliance. How much usable storage does the 445L rating provide?
The 445L total is divided unevenly. The refrigerator’s 346L storage rating is generous for fresh food, drinks and prepared meals, while the freezer’s 99L storage rating may be restrictive for bulk buying or a household that freezes many meals.
Why the gross and storage numbers differ
Gross figures count the space inside the cabinet before internal equipment and fittings reduce the area available for food. Storage figures account for those losses, which is why 547L gross becomes 445L storage. When comparing this model with a newer refrigerator, compare storage with storage and gross with gross; mixing the two can make one appliance appear larger than it is.
What the freezer split means in daily use

Will the NR-CY54BGWAU fit my kitchen and delivery route?
The cabinet is 770mm wide, 743mm deep and 1714mm high. A 770mm opening may be workable where wider French-door models cannot fit, but the listed width is not a delivery guarantee. Doors, packaging, hinges, stairwells, lift entrances and tight turns can all require more room.

A refurbished-appliance listing for a related NR-CY54BG variant describes touch controls, automatic defrost and quick ice-making. Because that listing is not confirmed as the exact NR-CY54BGWAU unit, inspect the refrigerator and its accessories rather than assuming every control, tray or ice component is included. Another owner criticised the small freezer, fixed (non-adjustable) door shelves and the chilled-meat compartment. Choose a different refrigerator if your household depends on a large freezer, needs adjustable door storage, requires guaranteed parts availability or cannot verify the appliance’s service history.
