Evaluating Palantir stock requires two separate judgments: whether Palantir Technologies is executing well and whether the market price already discounts that execution. The latest released quarter, ended June 30, 2026, showed $1.935 billion of revenue, up 93% year over year, but an October 29 closing price of $196.42 produced an illustrative equity value of about $471.8 billion and roughly 57.9 times management’s midpoint 2026 revenue guidance. That combination makes growth durability, profit quality, dilution and downside assumptions as important as headline revenue.
This framework uses the June quarter and guidance available on October 30, 2026. Palantir’s Q3 results were scheduled for November 2 after the U.S. market close, so those results were not available for this analysis.

What numbers matter first when evaluating Palantir stock?
Start with dated operating figures, then separate recognized revenue from forward commitments, reconcile GAAP and adjusted profit, and only then calculate a valuation using matched dates. The table below is a compact snapshot of the figures available before the scheduled Q3 release.

The revenue, margin and guidance figures come from Palantir’s Q2 2026 earnings release and its June 30, 2026 Form 10-Q. Prices and share counts change, so any decision should refresh the inputs after the November earnings release.

What does Palantir actually sell, and why does that matter to the stock?
Palantir sells subscription software platforms commonly described as Gotham, Foundry, Apollo and AIP. Subscription revenue is generally recognized over the contract term, so signing a large agreement does not put the entire contract value into the current quarter. A strong operating quarter therefore does not, by itself, prove that the shares are attractively priced.
The key analytical separation is:
- Business performance: customer additions, revenue growth, retention, margins and cash generation.
- Share valuation: the price investors pay for each dollar of current or future sales, earnings or cash flow.
- Shareholder economics: dilution from stock-based compensation, capital structure and voting rights.
How fast is Palantir revenue growing?
Q2 2026 revenue was $1.935 billion, 93% higher than a year earlier. U.S. commercial revenue rose 149% to $764 million, while U.S. government revenue rose 90% to $809 million. Those are important growth indicators, but they are U.S.-only categories and should not be mistaken for Palantir’s two worldwide reporting segments or for an annualized Q2 result.
How do the annual figures provide context?
For fiscal 2025, Palantir reported $4.475446 billion of worldwide revenue versus $2.865507 billion in fiscal 2024, approximately 56% annual growth. Fiscal-2025 government revenue was $2.402287 billion and commercial revenue was $2.073159 billion. The worldwide annual figures are not directly interchangeable with the Q2 U.S.-only figures.
What does management expect for 2026?
Management’s August guidance called for Q3 revenue of $2.160–$2.164 billion and full-year 2026 revenue of $8.150–$8.158 billion. It forecast more than $3.424 billion of U.S. commercial revenue for the full year. These are forecasts, not realized revenue. The next report should be checked for both the Q3 result and any change to the full-year range.
Is growth broadening across customers?
Palantir reported 1,049 customers for the trailing period ended June 30, compared with 849 a year earlier. Its filing also said the three largest customers supplied 16% of first-half 2026 revenue. The company’s definition can count separately contracting government agencies as separate customers, so customer count alone does not establish low concentration.
Are Palantir’s bookings and backlog numbers guaranteed revenue?
No. Total contract value, remaining deal value and remaining performance obligations measure different stages of commercial activity and carry different cancellation risks.
Total contract value and remaining deal value
Q2 total contract value was $3.373 billion. U.S. commercial remaining deal value was $6.238 billion. These figures indicate deal activity and potential future business; they are not a timetable for recognized sales. They can include cancellable amounts, contract options that have not been exercised or other commitments that do not become revenue immediately.

Remaining performance obligations
Remaining performance obligations were $4.9 billion at June 30, 2026. This measure represents noncancelable contracted revenue subject to the limitations described in the filing, and Palantir expected approximately 43% to be recognized over the following 12 months. It is more constrained than a broad deal-value measure, but it is still not the same as cash received or guaranteed lifetime revenue.
What should an investor compare over time?
Track whether deal value converts into noncancelable obligations, then into recognized revenue and cash collections. Also read termination rights, renewal terms and unexercised options. Do not add total contract value, remaining deal value and RPO together or label the sum a guaranteed backlog.
How profitable is Palantir after stock-based compensation?
Palantir’s Q2 GAAP operating income was $912 million, a 47% operating margin. Adjusted operating income was $1.194 billion, a 62% adjusted margin. The distinction matters because adjusted results exclude or modify certain costs, including stock-based compensation.
What does the 155% Rule of 40 figure mean?
Palantir calculated a 155% Rule of 40 result by adding 93% year-over-year revenue growth to its 62% adjusted operating margin. This is a company-defined, non-GAAP comparison. It does not erase stock-based compensation, establish a fair share price or substitute for GAAP profitability.
How large is stock-based compensation?
Q2 stock-based compensation was $265.209 million, compared with $159.971 million a year earlier. Dividing the reported expense by Q2 revenue gives approximately 13.7%. Stock-based pay is noncash in the period, but the shares issued to employees and other holders can dilute existing owners.
Q2 diluted weighted-average shares were 2.568694 billion, versus 2.562912 billion a year earlier. Review basic shares, diluted shares and outstanding awards separately; a diluted weighted average is not automatically the same share count used for a market-capitalization calculation.
What do cash flow and the balance sheet add to the analysis?
First-half 2026 operating cash flow was $2.115332 billion, while purchases of property and equipment were $21.955 million. A simple operating-cash-flow-minus-capital-expenditure calculation is approximately $2.093 billion, but that arithmetic should not be relabeled as Palantir’s own adjusted free-cash-flow metric.

Do not combine the two cash totals or add either one to a share price without stating exactly which assets are included. For an enterprise-value calculation, reconcile the latest cash, debt and other claims using the same reporting date as the share count and price.
How can you calculate an illustrative PLTR valuation?
Use a dated price, a dated share count and a clearly identified revenue period. The following calculation is an illustration, not a live October 30 market capitalization or a fair-value target.
Step 1: Establish the share count and price dates
The October 29, 2026 regular-session close was $196.42. Palantir reported 2,300,713,329 Class A shares and 101,340,151 Class B shares outstanding on July 27, 2026. Adding those two classes gives 2,402,053,480 shares for this illustrative common-equity calculation. Separately disclosed Class F voting shares are not silently added to that economic share count.
Step 2: Calculate indicative equity value
Multiplying $196.42 by 2,402,053,480 shares gives approximately $471.8 billion of indicative equity value. Because the price and share-count dates differ, this is an approximation rather than a precise current market capitalization.

The midpoint of the $8.150–$8.158 billion 2026 revenue outlook is $8.154 billion. Dividing the illustrative $471.8 billion equity value by that midpoint produces approximately 57.9 times guided 2026 sales.
Step 4: Compare with a trailing period
A filing-based trailing-revenue calculation is: $4.475446 billion fiscal-2025 revenue, minus $1.887552 billion first-half-2025 revenue, plus $3.568047 billion first-half-2026 revenue, equaling $6.155941 billion. Using the same illustrative equity value gives approximately 76.6 times trailing sales.
The forward and trailing multiples use different dates and definitions. A high multiple makes the stock more sensitive to slower growth, a lower margin or a missed forecast, but the multiple alone does not prove overvaluation or undervaluation. For a fresh analysis, obtain the current price and latest shares, match the forecast period, and reconcile enterprise value separately from equity value.

Palantir’s filings identify several risks that should be tested explicitly rather than left as generic warnings.
Government budgets and procurement
Government contracts can face budget limits, appropriations uncertainty, long sales cycles and termination-for-convenience provisions. A delay in a procurement decision can affect reported growth even when customer interest remains intact.
Customer and receivables concentration
The three largest customers represented 16% of first-half 2026 revenue. Separately, one customer represented 27% of accounts receivable at June 30. The latter is a receivables concentration, not evidence that the customer supplied 27% of revenue; it still matters for collection and balance-sheet exposure.
Competition and switching economics
Palantir competes for government and commercial data, analytics, cloud and artificial-intelligence workloads. Assess whether customers renew, expand and deploy additional products, rather than assuming that a successful initial deployment automatically creates permanent pricing power.

AI, privacy and contractual liabilities
AI systems can create privacy, security, intellectual-property, regulatory and performance liabilities. Contract terms, customer data rights and applicable rules can affect costs and the ability to scale deployments.
Dilution and voting control
Stock-based compensation can increase the economic share count even when it does not reduce current-period cash. Palantir’s multi-class structure also concentrates founder voting power, so economic ownership and voting influence are not identical.

Valuation compression
At a sales multiple near the illustrative levels above, a slower growth rate or a lower sustainable margin can reduce the valuation even if revenue continues to rise. Model several growth and margin outcomes instead of extending the latest percentage indefinitely.

How should you update the analysis after the next earnings release?
Palantir’s Q3 2026 results were scheduled for November 2, 2026 after the U.S. market close. Once released, replace every stale input rather than changing only the headline revenue number.
- Record Q3 revenue, U.S. commercial and government growth, customer count and any revised full-year guidance.
- Recalculate GAAP and adjusted operating margins and quantify the new stock-based-compensation expense.
- Update diluted and basic shares, outstanding awards, cash, marketable securities, debt and operating cash flow.
- Compare total contract value, remaining deal value and RPO with the prior quarter, including cancellation and option language.

What is the bottom line on evaluating Palantir stock?
Palantir’s June 2026 results describe a rapidly growing, highly profitable software business on an adjusted basis, with substantial operating cash flow and strong U.S. commercial momentum. They do not, by themselves, establish that PLTR shares are cheap. The disciplined approach is to separate operating results from the stock price, distinguish deal metrics from contracted revenue, treat stock-based compensation as an ownership issue, date every valuation input and test whether the growth and margin assumptions can withstand a slower outcome.

Should Class F shares be included when estimating Palantir’s market value?
Class F shares carry special voting rights, but the illustrative common-equity calculation uses the reported Class A and Class B shares. State clearly whether a calculation is measuring economic equity value or voting control, and do not mix the two concepts.
Why can Palantir’s adjusted margin be much higher than its GAAP margin?
Adjusted results remove or modify expenses that GAAP includes, especially stock-based compensation and other specified items. The gap is itself an analytical datapoint: compare its size and trend rather than treating the adjusted percentage as a replacement for GAAP accounting.

No. RPO covers noncancelable contracted obligations under the filing’s definitions, but recognition occurs as performance obligations are satisfied. Timing, collections, implementation and contract terms still affect when revenue and cash appear.
How should a beginner read Palantir’s customer concentration disclosures?
Read revenue concentration and accounts-receivable concentration separately. A customer can represent a large share of receivables without supplying the same share of revenue, so each disclosure answers a different exposure question.
