Yes—if you want one high-powered appliance for cold food preparation, the Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770 family remains a capable choice. Its 1,500-watt motor, 72-ounce pitcher, 64-ounce processor bowl and personal cups handle smoothies, ice, nut butter, chopping and dough work well. RTINGS’ testing gave it an overall 7.0 score, with especially strong results for ice crushing and single-serve smoothies.

It is not a heating appliance. Neither the motor base nor the containers are intended to blend hot liquids, so soup and other steaming mixtures require a different appliance or a cooling step before blending.

For the most even blend, add liquid before dense or frozen ingredients, avoid exceeding the 64-ounce liquid limit and use the appropriate vessel for the batch size. The machine uses manual presets rather than a sophisticated sensor-controlled program, so you may need to stop and inspect a thick mixture.
Ice and frozen drinks
Ice crushing is the standout result: RTINGS awarded 9.7 and described the output as snow-like. That makes the system well suited to frozen drinks, shaved-ice-style textures and recipes that depend on thoroughly crushed ice. Use the pitcher for larger batches and respect the vessel’s fill guidance so the ice can circulate.
Nut butter
The motor can produce smooth nut butter, but the process may require scraping the sides and allowing extra time. Thick mixtures can form an air pocket or cling to the container walls, so stop the machine, unplug it before opening, scrape with a suitable utensil and resume in short intervals.
Can it make hot soup?
No. Do not hot-blend soup or other steaming liquids in this system. RTINGS gave soup performance a 5.0 and specifically warns that the appliance is unsuitable for hot mixes. The containers and blade assembly are intended for cold preparation; pressure and heat can create a dangerous situation if a sealed blender vessel is used with hot contents.
If you are making soup, cook it separately and use an appliance rated for hot blending, or let the food cool to a safe temperature before transferring it to a suitable cold blender. Cooling does not turn the Ninja into a heating appliance: it will blend a cooled soup, but it will not cook or reheat it.
What else can the processor bowl do?
The 64-ounce processor bowl broadens the system beyond drinks. Its chopping and dough attachments can handle tasks that would otherwise require a separate food processor or mixer.
- Chopping: Process vegetables, herbs and other solid ingredients in batches sized for the bowl.

How loud and bulky is the machine?
RTINGS measured 96.9 dB at maximum speed. That is a very loud operating level for a kitchen appliance: expect conversation to be difficult nearby and consider hearing protection for prolonged high-speed use. The measurement is from the review’s test conditions, not a guarantee that every kitchen will produce exactly the same reading, but it accurately signals that quiet operation is not a strength.
The design is also tall and bulky. Before buying, measure the counter location with the pitcher, lid and feed area in place, then check whether the assembled unit can be stored under your cabinets. If you plan to put it away after each use, reserve cabinet space for the base, pitcher, processor bowl, blades, lids and any personal cups. A system that replaces several appliances can still feel cumbersome if its attachments remain scattered around the kitchen.
Are the controls easy to use?
The controls are manual presets rather than automatic, recipe-specific programs. They provide straightforward operation, but there is limited fine speed adjustment compared with newer systems that offer more granular control or timed cycles.

What should you do if the motor overloads?
A thick mixture or jammed blade can trigger the motor-overload protection. Do not repeatedly press the controls while the blade is stuck.
- Unplug the unit.
- Allow the motor to cool for about 15 minutes.
- Remove the lid and blade assembly only after the unit is unplugged.
- Clear the jam and reduce the load if the container was overfilled.
- Reassemble securely, reconnect power and restart with a smaller amount or more suitable liquid.
If the motor still will not run after cooling and clearing the obstruction, stop using it and consult the owner’s support information rather than bypassing the protection.
