To unlock all four new MW4 Season One weapons, advance the free, linear Battle Pass to Tier 16 for the Cronen Osprey and Tier 36 for the CSG-35, then complete the in-season events that will introduce the JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk. Activision has announced the route, but Season One is not live yet: the update is scheduled for November 6, 2026 at 00:00 ET (November 5 at 21:00 PT). Activision’s October 28, 2026 Season One announcement schedules the update for November 6 at midnight Eastern Time, which is November 5 at 21:00 Pacific Time. On October 30, the season had not started, so no player could legitimately have completed these Season One unlocks in live play yet.
The timing matters because the Cronen Osprey and CSG-35 cannot be earned from the current pre-season Battle Pass. Their rewards become available when the Season One Battle Pass is active. If the publisher changes the launch schedule, the in-game Battle Pass and a newer official announcement take precedence over the times listed above.

How do I unlock the Cronen Osprey?
The Cronen Osprey is the first of the two launch weapons on the free Battle Pass track. Reach Tier 16 on the linear Season One Battle Pass and claim the base assault rifle reward.
- Install the Season One update and wait until the Battle Pass is available after the announced launch time.
- Open the Battle Pass menu and select its linear progression track. Activision describes this as a 100-tier pass with two free new base-weapon rewards.
- Earn Battle Pass progress through the activities that count in the live game, then advance to Tier 16.
- Claim the Cronen Osprey reward at Tier 16. Check the weapon section of your loadout to confirm that the base weapon, rather than a blueprint, is available.
Activision describes the Osprey as a fast-firing 5.56 assault rifle and lists a rate of 882 rounds per minute. That figure is a publisher-supplied specification, not an independently measured result, and it does not establish that the rifle is the best choice for every mode or build.

What does the Tier 87 Osprey blueprint mean?
The announcement also places an Osprey blueprint at Tier 87. A blueprint is a separate configured or cosmetic reward for a weapon that is already represented by the base reward. Reaching Tier 87 is therefore not required to unlock the Cronen Osprey, and it does not make a fifth Season One weapon.
How do I unlock the CSG-35?
The CSG-35 is the second launch weapon. Progress to Tier 36 on the free linear Battle Pass and claim it there; a premium Battle Pass, BlackCell, or Vault Edition is not stated as a prerequisite.
- Enter the Season One Battle Pass after the update goes live.
- Keep the linear track selected and earn progress until Tier 36.
- Claim the CSG-35 base submachine gun at Tier 36.
- Equip it from the SMG category and configure it as desired after the claim is registered.
Activision characterizes the CSG-35 as strongest up close and gives it a publisher-listed rate of 1,200 rounds per minute. Those descriptions explain the intended engagement range; they are not an independent ranking, damage test, or guarantee that every attachment setup will perform identically.
What is the Tier 73 CSG-35 blueprint?
A separate CSG-35 blueprint appears at Tier 73. It is an alternate blueprint reward, not the base weapon’s unlock requirement. The base CSG-35 is obtained at Tier 36, so buying or reaching a later blueprint tier is not part of the announced route to add the SMG to your inventory.

When do the JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk unlock?
The JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk are later in-season event rewards rather than Battle Pass tier rewards. Activision’s announcement says, “Later in the season, hunt down foes with the JAK 12 Shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk Melee Weapon,” but it does not assign either weapon to a named event or publish a start date and challenge list for them.
JAK 12
The JAK 12 is a full-auto shotgun earned through a later in-season event. The exact event, objectives, modes, kill counts, and activation date remain unannounced in the checked October announcement. When its event appears, open the event panel in-game and follow the objectives shown there; do not rely on challenge numbers circulating before Activision publishes them.
ZLR Talonhawk
The ZLR Talonhawk is a melee combat axe delivered through a later in-season event. It is not listed at a Battle Pass tier, and no individual event date or challenge requirement has been announced. Its eventual event instructions will determine the actual steps needed to claim it.
What you can do before those events are announced
- Finish or continue the Battle Pass so the two launch weapons are secured while the season is active.
- Watch the official Call of Duty news feed and the in-game event interface for the JAK 12 and Talonhawk announcements.
- Read the event’s own reward and objective panel once it is live instead of assuming that a generic seasonal challenge unlocks either weapon.
- Keep screenshots or notes of the displayed requirements if you need to track progress across modes or sessions.
Activision has not published an alternative post-event unlock route for either later weapon. Missing an event may therefore have consequences that cannot be stated until the publisher explains whether another acquisition method will exist.

The Cronen Osprey and CSG-35 are explicitly described as free base-weapon rewards on the 100-tier linear Battle Pass. The announcement does not say that a premium Battle Pass, BlackCell, or Vault Edition is required to reach Tier 16 or Tier 36 and claim them.
Premium products still contain their own rewards. Activision advertises more than 50 guaranteed premium rewards and says the Vault Edition includes one season of BlackCell, but those benefits are separate from the two free weapon tiers. Purchasing a premium pass may change which cosmetic or bonus items you receive; it is not the stated condition for the Osprey or CSG-35.

The JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk are described as event rewards, not paid-store items. Because no event rules or later purchase option has been announced, avoid treating a premium pass as a shortcut to either one.
What is the difference between a base weapon, a blueprint and an attachment?
A base weapon is the underlying gun or melee item added to the armory. A blueprint is a separate reward that supplies a named configuration or appearance for that weapon. An attachment reward changes a weapon’s setup but does not count as another new base weapon.

For Season One, the four base weapons are the Cronen Osprey, CSG-35, JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk. The Osprey blueprint at Tier 87 and the CSG-35 blueprint at Tier 73 should not be added to that count. The announcement also discusses seasonal attachment rewards, including Apex attachments; those are equipment items, not a fifth or sixth weapon.
This distinction prevents a common mistake: seeing a later blueprint or attachment in the Battle Pass and assuming the weapon itself is locked until that later tier. For the two launch weapons, the base unlock points are Tier 16 and Tier 36.
What should I do on launch day?
Use this sequence when the update is available. It separates the rewards that can be earned immediately from the events that have not yet been dated.
- Check the game’s update status and confirm that Season One is live in your region. The announced global reference point is November 6 at 00:00 ET, or November 5 at 21:00 PT.
- Open the Battle Pass and verify that the 100-tier linear track is selected. Do not confuse premium reward lanes with the free weapon tiers.
- Work toward Tier 16 first if you want the earliest new gun, then continue to Tier 36 for the second launch weapon.
- After each claim, look in the appropriate loadout category for the base weapon. An Osprey or CSG-35 blueprint displayed elsewhere is not a replacement for the base reward.
- Review the event tab periodically. The JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk will require their own in-season event rewards once Activision turns those events on.
- Read the complete event rules before starting an objective. Until the publisher posts them, there is no reliable basis for a specific number of eliminations, a required mode, a map, or a deadline.
How can I avoid the most common unlock mistakes?
Mistake: trying to claim weapons before Season One starts
The season was still unreleased on October 30. If the Battle Pass does not show the new tiers, that is expected before the scheduled update; it is not evidence that the weapon is permanently unavailable.

Mistake: stopping at a blueprint tier
The Osprey’s Tier 87 blueprint and CSG-35’s Tier 73 blueprint are later rewards. The base weapons are at Tiers 16 and 36, respectively, so a blueprint’s tier should not be used as the unlock target.
Mistake: assuming BlackCell is mandatory
Activision calls the two launch weapons free. A premium purchase is not identified as a requirement for either base weapon, so do not buy one solely to reach those two rewards.
Mistake: treating an event teaser as a complete challenge list
The announcement confirms that the JAK 12 and ZLR Talonhawk arrive through events but omits their individual objectives and dates. Wait for the event’s official rules rather than following unverified kill counts or mode requirements.
Mistake: counting attachments as new weapons
Seasonal attachment rewards can appear alongside weapon content. They modify equipment and do not expand the announced four-weapon list.

Do I need to own MW4 before I can pursue the rewards?
You need access to the game and its Season One Battle Pass or event menus to claim the weapons. Activision confirms a Modern Warfare 4 Physical Standard Edition for PS5 and an Xbox Series X disc edition; it says there is no physical PC edition and no physical Vault Edition, and physical preorders cannot be upgraded to Vault. These edition details affect how you obtain the game, not whether the two Battle Pass weapons are free once you are playing.
